On March 10, 2010 I received a collection bill from A.C.A. Recovery in Ridgewood, NJ for $574.00 from goyellowpagesonline.com based out of North Miami Beach, FL. I called A.C.A. and spoke with Mr. Born and conveyed to him that I have never heard of this company nor have I ever ordered any online service from this company. He did not have a contract but said he had an invoice. I asked him to fax it to me and I received a very blurry fax that did not have my name or my company name anywhere on it. I began to research go yellow pages online and all I found was one complaint after the next from companies who had the identical amount of $574.00 charged to them on a collection notice sent from A.C.A Recovery. I spoke to Mr. Born again and he told me he would put my claim into dispute and go yellow pages would have to deal with it directly. This is nothing but a scam!!! I am going to report this to the BBB, the NJ Attorney General and the Florida Attorney General. I am also going to send go yellow pages a letter stating that I want a refraction of the bill with a zero balance sent to me. Beware of this company!

I don't know about the other two companies you spoke of, but I do know about general yellow pages.com and they are actually a legitimate company. It's usually because people click on the free listing icon and subscribe for 90 days for a free trial however after those 90 days you start to pay if you don't cancel you have to read before you register. General yellow pages was actually really good to me they made me my website and at a lot cheaper cost than any other company would have charged so I'm happy with them. : )

That's not true, I worked there for 2 days! If you look up something on the website, you see that they have very few clients. Therefore, it's not a good place to advertise. You don't have to read before you register, they register you on the phone. They make in sound as if they were the regular yellow pages.

generalyellowpages.com. These people have trapped me into their noose. A phone solicitor talked me into a 30 day free trial stating they would contact me a few days before the end to cancel if I had wanted. Needless to say the whole phone call was forgotton in the heat of running my business. I was assured they would contact me in time for the cancellation. I am disputing all the charges. They even have the nerve to bill me for the next year. They state they called me in time for the cancellation and have sent me 3-4 pages on how to cancel. Hmmm I wonder where they got lost to. Don't touch these guys with a 10 foot pole. My disputes are pending. I have contacted our States Attorney' office and made out a complaint but they won't go to bat unless they have a certain number of similar complaints. I find them definite scammers.

generalyellowpages.com.  I got into trapped same way. Lady called offered me free month of listing. The listing was nothing but my business information. Tried calling multiple time and cannot get hold of them to cancel. next think I know got bill for the entire year. The also recorded my conversation as I agreed on 63.00 monthly for one year. My true understanding was that it was monthly and can be cancelled anytime. The invoice that I got had 24% interest charges from day 1 for the entire year of service ( which I haven't even used). I also complained over the phone that the listing that they promised wasn't even there on their website. I offered to cancel so I don't get charge again for another year. The guy said he will send me paperworks for cancellation. From then I figured it was scam. They started the service over the phone I'm sure they can cancel over the phone as well. You don't need any paperworks.
I called multiple times and complained on BBB. Called multiple time to the generalyellowpage.com and offered for 2 month of payment but he would not take it. He would continue to insist it was one month contract for $63.00 monthly per our phone conversation. I begged and offered to cancel multiple time but they would not. I got tired and told him hell with it. He told me he will have his lawyers come after me and send it to collection agency.

I did my research and called a lawyer friend. Verbal contracts are enforced since the guy had conversation recorded. I never signed to pay up front fee as well as interest charges. Also one thing to know that verbal contract are enforced with limit in amount. In the state of MD is 500. Over $500 contract you need written documents. Also verbal contract gets nulled if any of the parties changes their terms. He told me 63 monthly for one year that's more than 500 annually. Additionally, I got invoices with 24% interest charges which I never agreed on. Thus I am not paying anything to them. I felt compelled and offered to take care of the  2 month invoice but that didn't work.

          Hope this helps.

I received a call this afternoon from a woman at yellow pages on line wanting to know why I cancelled my credit card after authorizing payment a couple days before. Told her about my call to AT&T; her responce was that ypol was NOT a scam and owed them 509.00. Repeatedly told her I never ordered an ad and was not going to pay them whereupon she said they would take legal action and the account would remain open. Said their office was in Virginia. So, will see what happens. There wasn't a phone number on my caller ID but will see what I can find on Virginia's BBB.

Today (2-3-12) I got a call from General Yellow Pages. Conversation began with "would I like to continure advertising or cancell" so they could send out the appropriate bill for the 2011 book. She alluded to a phone call from Dec. 2010 where someone authorized a 90 day trial subscription that when not cancelled automatically rolls into a recurring yearly subscription for $599.00/yr. This is something I really watch out for and would never initiate something like that. She went on to say I could cancell and recieve a 7 digit number verifying the cancellation. I asked to speak to a superior and was hung up on. Never got a phone number, never got a name, never got the cancellation number. When I tried to look up General Yellow pages online, I could not find any mention of my business. Something is definately wrong here.

We've been receiving invoices from generalyellowpages.com over our fax machine for over a year.  The original bill was $599.95, and no one from our office authorized this account.  The company calls us from a blocked number and demands to speak to someone in charge of AP.  I've reported them to the FTC and to the FL Atty General.  Will not pay this invoice. BEWARE!

I was called by General Yellow Pages in May. They said that in 2011, Theresa, a prior owner had authorized the advertising for 1 year and they were calling to see if we would renew. When I heard the price, I asked them to cancel it. After being asked if I would consent to the conversation being recorded for "quality assurance purposes" I was given to a manager who verified my information and then hung up on me. The next day, the first invoice appeared. My general manager advised me that this was a scam and said that we would be ignoring the invoices. However, we found out from another company that we do business with that they attempted to sue him for not paying the invoices. After the 2nd invoice arrived today via fax, I called the company. After speaking to a representative, I advised him that the owner that they had received authorization from had not been with the company for 3 years. He then told me that this would go to the "Review Department" and hung up on me. I will let you all know if this works.

I too have been getting the phone calls, the bogus invoices and even the collections letter from ACA Recovery. Let me start with the collections letter...it was address to an employee who not only passed away but hasn't worked for the company in 9 yrs. The invoices all come via fax and don't even have the correct business name on it. The billing goes all the way back to 12/2/11. Now for the phone calls...most of the calls come in on the caller ID as "Private" which I will not answer. Unfortunately b/c I work in a satellite office my phone will automatically roll up to the regional office for someone to answer the call. We had a temp receptionist who inadvertanly gave them my cell number without asking me first. The harrassment began and quickly ended when I filled a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry, the FTC, and the FCC. They stopped calling my cell but still continued to call my office. I knew they wouldn't stop until I talked to them. I spoke to "Carlos" who told me that he could cancel the listing but needed my authorization. I told him that I wasn't authorized to make those decisions. He didn't care for that and got pissy with me. I told him that unless he had a written contract with my regional manager's signature on it that the service couldn't have been agreed to by my company. He responded back with how he wasn't going to cancel the service and send me the bill. I told him to go right ahead and send the bill b/c I wasn't going to pay for service that wasnt' authorized. This apparently wasn't what he wanted to hear b/c he hung up. Haven't gotten another phone call since.

I can't stress to all of you how important it is to get things in writing!!! Also if you talk to these jerks...never answer a question with a "Yes" or "No" b/c they record the conversation without you knowing and then create a doctored recording of you "agreeing to service". And they are tricky and will ask you every day questions like "Is it raining there?"

We've been receiving invoices from generalyellowpages.com via fax, email, or phone call to various people at our company over the last year.  Invoice states their address is in Upper Mountclair, New Jersey.  The bill is for $599.95 for online directory service to post our address on their website.  We started receiving their invoices at least a year ago.  The invoices include a name of a person from our company.  Interestingly - they change that name from time to time depending on who they talked to on the phone.  They call from a blocked number as well.  They play a recording of the so-called authorization, clearly a manipulated recording that makes it sound like there was a verbal approval.  Like most reputable companies, we only make such agreements in writing.  I spoke with "Ben Brown, Quality Control Manager".  I let him know their company is listed all over the internet for fraudulant billing.  He said that is not the GeneralYellowPages.com, but some other yellow pages company.  The website generalyellowpages.com often doesn't work at all, or has a fuzzy appearance when it does come up online.

As of the summer of 2013 this scam is still going strong. I finally got hold of somebody on the phone who identified herself as "the answering service," in a nearly impossible to understand heavy Indi accent, to whom I explained that I had declined all services during the cold call I had recieved from this company selling peddling this scam.  I was informed that some fellow would be calling me by 1700 CST to discuss the matter. At 1658 CST (1758 EST - the scam company is in NJ) somebody rang, started playing my new phone message that stated "this call may be recorded," then promptly hung up...who knows. I have lodged a complaint with the FTC and will turn the matter over to my attorney to sue these scammers to get them off my back. I would imagine that the last thing they want is a subpoena directing them to appear before a judge to explain their conduct.

I received a call May 2013 from a lady at General Yellow Pages.com.  She had a heavy accent so it was hard to understand her. She stated that she wanted to update my company's information so I did so since I had moved my company to a new location.
At no time was there any talk  of checking a web site or following up with a cancellation after 3 days also there was never any talk of price.
I assumed this was a follow up on my previous advertisement and left it at that.
I received a invoice for $636.67 that I owed for their services.  I tried to contacted them but could not to anyone directly. Only through emails was I able to contact them.  I received a call from them and they had my recorded conversation.  In the recorded conversation I never authorized any services and we never talk price. I told them I am not paying this invoice will be happy to see them in court.
I have tried to see what service they provided for me and I have yet to see anything on line.

I just received a phone call from Yellow pages online wanting to confirm our INFO. She called from a BLOCKED number saying it had been a 12 month contract and we were 6 months in to it. I stopped her
her and asked what was her call for and she said so she could send an invoice. I said NO I didn't, nor never had I ever had a contract with them and I had NEVER authorized this charge and that I was the one
and only one that signs the checks and that I (we) do not  intend to pay any such thing, she again asked
if I'd like to pay 298.00 by a check over the phone.....Really people find a real job and stop trying to
SCAM hard working people out of their hard earned money. Send me a bill and see what happens with that. I dare you.

We've been dealing with the scam since 2012. Same scenarios, different fake invoices, etc. We refuse to pay and instead send back an invoice of our own for wasting our time with filing complaints against them and making phone calls that never result in any resolution.  DO NOT PAY these fools!!
