I used People Finders, a one time service charge of $2.95.
A week later Privacy Matters charged my credit card, $19.95 - unauthorized!
I am attempting to have the charges reversed.

This is Bull, Two month,s now I thought this was going to be just one payment for the service not every month thing taking out $29.95 , $1.00,$19.95, $1.00 every month now. I called 877-993-6264 and got a recording could,nt get a live person, give a ID Number to cancel but then I called again and then got a diffent ID number for the same thing,I then called the 888-840-6301 PMIDENTITY.COM and that put,s you back to the 877-993-6264 go figure. I guess l,ll Have to cancel my credit card to get them off my back.

I was hit by this charge on a credit card I rarely use, and was thus hit 3 times for $19.99 before I noticed it (plus a late charge).  I was able to get them off my account, but unable to get my money back.

The enrollment was an automatic part of the signup on ClassMates.com.  I would avoid that website, as they clearly are in with disreputable companies.

The same thing happened to me!  I signed up at classmates.com, and apparently, they automatically signed me up for this BS "privacy matters" crap for the past three months.  Ive since contacted my credit card company to dispute all charges, but what a hassle!

My credit card company also stated that there was nothing I can do to stop them from charging my account, all I can do is continue disputing the charges... WTF??

I ahd the same experience with charges from  PMIDENTITY.com & PRIVACYMATTERS. I had noticed some unknown charges on the card statement.  I had no idea how they got to charge my Visa card.  I canceled my card and disputed the charges.  The credit card people found all the charges to these companies to a total of $557.10  and the credit card people gave me the companies contact telephone numbers. I phoned and said I had not authorized any charges and to that they said they would refund the charges giving me a reference Number for the phone call. I did get the charges refunded after 6 weeks. Still wondering how they managed to get my details......

My elderly parents noticed unauthorized charges on their Bank of America bank statement reflecting two separate $1 charges (9*24 Protect 888-243-6183) and then one for $29.95 (Privacy Matters 877-993-6264). They went to the bank to ask about the charges and were told that they had to call the phone numbers listed on the statement. They called me and thanks to your postings I was able to quickly direct them to report the charges as fraud and close their account before any further damage is done. Their bank account is tied into a debit-Mastercard that they rarely use. How on earth can these scammers keep getting away with cheating the innocent?! My parents went back to their bank and their rep called Privacy Matters ("PV"). After two calls the bank rep spoke with "Christina". She asked for my parents' telephone no. and my parents refused saying if they have their bank account they should have their telephone number. Christina was then provided with the zip code. Christina told the bank rep that my parents applied for the PM service via the internet which is a bunch of hogwash because they haven't had internet service in over a month and NEVER EVER make purchases online. The PM person indicated that their records show my father's name and home address. The bank rep told PM that the charge was not authorized. Christina gave the bank rep her ID no. and said they would credit back the account within 10 days. To be continued . . ."

I am just another person who has been hit by this fraudulant company. I did not authorize a charge on my card. I filed a report on rip-off reports.com about this company and they had the gaul to comment that I did authorize their charge.
I reported this company to our state attorney general's office.
This company needs to go down.
You should see all of the reports on rip off reports.com

I've been charged as well over the last 5 months without signing up for any service.  AP9*PRIVACYMATTERS123.  If someone is taking action on this, please post here.

I'm reporting them to the BBB.

I noted the suspicious charge of $19.95 to my VISA account shortly after signing up for Classmates.com.  I called their number --- 877-993-6264 -- and received an automated walk-through that allowed "cancellation" of my (unwanted) "membership."  I've followed up with an email to them complaining of their practice.  I, too, will submit them to BBB if I do not receive a refund.

Just noticed 19.95 on my statement.  called 877-993-6264 spoke to Dante id#7087 or 700087 he said "seven thousand, eighty seven".  Without hesitation he said he would refund it in 2 days.  After reading this thread, I somewhat doubt that and will have to keep pushing.

How come some AG hasnt shut them down?

Privacr Matters is a SCAM!!!! They deducted my bank account $29.95 for the past 3 months PLUS $1.00 twice a month!!! I never authorized this, and when I called them they said they couldn't even find me in their computer!!! How then were they able to get into my bank account? I closed
my bank account and the bank (Wachovia) put the money back into my new account and they are going after Privacy Matters. I suggest you all do the same. It is also your Bank's fault for allowing them to do this.

I use vistaprint.com quite often to do my printing for a side business. I will no longer use them because they were the ones responsible for the 14.95 being taken out of my account since Feb 09. I called them to complain because it was a banner I accidentally clicked on finishing my purchase in Feb and they sent my credit card information to them. To find out they are partners with the "AP9" company that was charging my card every month with different company names and phone numbers that all go to the same place. I actually got the same person calling a different "company" and she (Miriam, #7035/or #700035) and they refused to admit that the companies were the same. WWW.PASSPORTTOFUN.COM, ENTERTAINMENT SAVINGS, PRIVACY MATTERS, AP9 HEALTHCARE. They are the same and there may be more! Each have each charged me 14.95 or 19.95, whatever made up amount on the same time each month until now when I finally realized to look into the healthcare one.
