They took $79.00 from my account and I didn't order anything. I had actually closed my account with them 2 months prior to this withdrawal.

On 10/23/09 while looking at my bank account i found a withdrawal of $79 made by posterpass.com I had not made any kind of purchase from them I actually 2 months prior had canceled my account with after I had started to do an online survey and one of the things you could do was sign up with posterpass and get 4 posters for $4 each and then no obligation to buy any further u could cancel account with them. as i continued on with survey I realized it was more than meets the eye and immmedatly called posterpass and canceled the woman i spoke to said that monies in the amount of $16.00(4poster x $4) had already beeen processed she said I could still keep the deal if I wanted and cancel my account so i did. Now 2 months later $79 has been taken from my account for no purchases made and an I account i had closed i contacted posterpass on 10/23 spoke with a gentleman named Larry who assured me that monies would be refunded in last couple of day i have tried to call again just to confirm that refund was being processed and i get is a voice message saying first they are busy with other customers then goes to another saying they r closed please leave a message which i have and have not received a call back.

They have numerous complaints of cramming charges onto account information provided for their teaser offer.

Their BBB report notes the pattern of complaints of deceptive marketing and unauthorized shipments and charges.
Don't know how long I will hold, but my next call will be to my credit union.
I recommend calling your bank and having them simply block charges from PosterPass, and most banks will refund the fraudulent charges asap.
I just finished filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Chicago, so hopefully we will see them closed down soon!
"The Secretary of State may refer such evidence as may be

regulation, or order under this Law to the Attorney General or
the appropriate State’s Attorney, who may, with or without such
a reference, institute the appropriate proceedings under this
Section.
(4) In addition to any other sanction or remedy contained in this
Section, the Secretary of State, after finding that any provision
of this Law has been violated, may impose a fine as provided
by rule or order against the violator not to exceed $10,000 per
violation, and may issue an order of public censure against
the violator, and charge as costs of the investigation all
reasonable expenses, including attorney’s fees and witness
fees."
1) Call/leave a message on the company's phone line ASAP explaining everything, including the fact that you wish to cancel your account and return all goods, etc. Their phone line stopped working for me at one point though, so only do this if you can get through. The number I have for them was 1-877-809-4360.
2) Go to your bank and ask to file fraudulent charge papers. You'll show the bank exactly what charges there were and how many weren't authorized. They'll usually take a week or so, but they SHOULD refund all the money you dispute first, and THEN open an investigation in the matter, whereon they'll decide whether you are correct and the charges are erroneous, or you are incorrect, in which case they'll actually take the money back out of your account.
3) Here's the important step: immediately after going to your bank and filing papers, go to the Better Business Bureau website and file a formal complaint. For the purposes of the complaint, Posterpass is owned by Peel.com, and they are based out of Evanston, Illinois. The address is:
990 Grove St Ste 204
Evanston, IL 60201-6512
Here is a link to the proper BBB branch to file a complaint:

Fill out everything thoroughly as they advise, including account numbers, amount of charges, dates, etc. Be sure to include that you want a refund and a cancellation of your membership. The company should get back eventually, and *hopefully* they will say they will refund you. Now here's the cool thing: since you already went to your bank and filed papers, you may have *already* received a refund to your credit/debit card through your bank, so there's no need to mess around and worry if posterpass will go through with what they said or not, because you have the bank and the BBB on your side.
Good Luck!
