"ACS Law firm" is just a bunch of crooks calling from India extorting Americans into paying fake "debts".

    You don't owe them ANYTHING.

Even if they appeared to have information on some debt you recognize, you wouldn't owe it to them.  There are reports indicating that they are obtaining U.S. consumer information from credit reports, skip-trace services, and phony on-line "payday loan" sites, which would allow them to fake claims that you "owe" them some "debt", using information from your own credit report.

File a fraud complaint with the FBI, although since they're in India, it's not likely anything will happen to them.

If they call back, just tell them you have reported their scam to the FBI, and you are recording their call for use as evidence.  Once they realize you can't be conned, they will move on to some other sucker.

I keep getting calls from law Firm of ASC. His name is Justin Crowe telling me I owed over 900.00 for a payday loan..would not give me any verification of debt other than an OOCR (Out of court documant) wanting my cc info.to set up a payment plan. After several calls I asked for proof of debt and they have been calling me at work and my cell.  I told him I was not sending anything..he gat an attitude and told me I would have to deal with the officers of the court and I should have told him that upfront...He calls me from 213-799-2296 but when you call back it goes straight to an extension and then says no messages can be left.

Me too. They have resorted to e-mail my work e-mail and threating me. I don't owe them nothing. The first time they contacted me was on the phone threating me to come to my job and serve me papers. When that didn't scare me into sending them money they started calling me at midnight. This is there second attempt to contact me in 4 months.

It's a con, run by crooks.

All the legal sounding gibberish is just BS.  They lie, they threaten, but that's all they can do.  There is no "payday loan", though they must think every American has taken out hundreds of them, so they can be convinced they "forgot to pay" one of them.

ANYONE can get a cheap cell phone, or a VoIP account, and start running a phony "payday loan debt collector" extortion racket, from anywhere in the world.  The phone numbers keep changing, and it's really low on the priorities of law enforcement in India, for example, if some American gets taken.

There are a lot of people out there doing this, and more every day.  They just keep calling and making up BS until they hit a sucker and get money.

They are probably running this scam from overseas, which makes suing them impractical.

They are, however, vulnerable at two points:
    1)  Their phone provider.  They may be using VoIP, but most likely use the same carrier even though they may change phone numbers frequently.
    2)  Their method of getting the money transferred.

If the scam got that far, how did they say payment should be sent?
    Western Union?
    MoneyGram?
    Other?

Nd claim I have been in jail based on my credit score.  I have never taken a payday load
N so I have no idea where they get there info.  I know it is a scam but it is getting very uncomfortable. I have played there messages to coworkers who agree with me. I just wish it would stop. I put alerts on my credit, my bank account, and my social security number. My work says they will tell these people I no longer work there. I just want to know when this will stop!

The problem with this one, because I have received many calls such as this, is they sound American. They keep calling my house phone saying I owe 758.00 for a loan I took out with cashnet usa. Which come to find out, I attempted but didnt receive the funds because I decided not to do it so didnt fill out the paperwork. I have spoken to my debt consolidation company and they have stated that by law, until they have provided written proof from the COMPANY in which the loan was taken, they can not do anything..... which in fact, they refuse to send anything but emails. They are very rude and like to threaten but until something is given to you in writing, just ignore. Also, if you feel you may have "forgot" about one, call the company they are claiming it is and ask, if you did, they will tell you. Information is never 100% wiped from a system, even if it is sold.

This type of scam uses fake "payday loan application" websites to get consumer identity and account information.

It appears that you may have applied on one of their fake sites, which passed your information to this scam.

The calls started many months ago and after investigating what little information I had, I ended up filing a complaint with the FTC, FBI, Homeland Security, L.V.Metropolitan Police and various other agencies.  I was told it is a scam that is coming out of India and that I should let them know that I knew that they were phonies and to back off.  For a while they stopped calling and now they have started up again.  They change the phone #, and they change the name of the company that I supposedly owe.  I've contacted the companies that they say they represent and they have no idea what I'm talking about and comfirmed that this is not the way the do business.  If you owe a legitimate company, they have their own legal department that handles problems, they do not  hire other agencies to collect, even if they did, they would personally notify you who would be contacting you on their behalf.  They are now calling themselves ACS Legal, I no longer answer any of their calls and refuse to return calls after they have left voice mails.  The saddest part is that the government is aware of them and their tactics and have done nothing to stop them, once again, I am filing a complaint and hoping that someone, somewhere or something will deter them.  The American public seems to be at their mercy.

They are calling me saying I owe 900.00 on a payday loan and several times someone has called and left a msg saying they are a process server and I need to make myself available the next day either at home or work so they can serve me. These are Americans. No accent. If you are going to be served, why would they call you and tell you when they are coming?

I too among all of you get these callers!!! Its an India*n accent, not American,  they leave recordings, they call my cell and my work, out of area, private or unknown number ID.  they also have a woman or two call one sounds American, and the other African American,  now they have said Im goin to get served to wait at work or my house, (where? the first time I called the local authorities and NOONE give you a heads up "call" to serve you papers--and also learned w/in each state there are collections laws they are to follow if indeed you owe a bill or debt.  They call from different numbers and states, callin cards, carrier company phones, and then ACS law firm?  mentioned a Weinreb or whatever via bad pronunciation or on purpose with a file number to cal asap......JUST GO AWAY!!!!!  these dont ever say this is the bill the company name or legitimately state the facts   Id like them to go to FED PRISON, or crawl under a rock they came out of -----they are a nuisance and disgrace and make a living by scamming and stealing from people the number they call from is 877-845-5988!!
