Call your bank immediately to notify them that the charge is fraudulent and to close that account number to prevent future fraudulent charges.

Follow up with a written dispute of the fraudulent charge sent to your bank.  You must make sure they receive this written dispute within 60 days of the statement showing the fraudulent charge, so send it immediately, and send it certified, to the dispute address on the back of your bank statement.

Do NOT use debit or check cards.  Cancel any you have.  Use only credit cards at on-line or retail merchants, since it is less disruptive to cancel them after a security breach.  Use checks only with rent, mortage, or utilities, etc. (companies that you know).  Use ATM cards with PIN only at your bank's ATM machines.

I was charged and I did not authorize it. And it bounced my account. This is stupid for this company to do this. You try to better yourself by going to school and someone takes advantage of you. It is a crime for them to do that. I live on fixed income and when one thing bounces, my bank charges an exorbitant fee to get straightened out. They should be ashamed of themselves to take from people who can't afford it.

THe same thing happend to us. I called the company and they said that you have a free trial starting the day you ordered you "free" CD. If you dont cancel you get charged.  I didn't get my money back but they did cancel my membership and gave me a cancellation number. I was assured that there will not be anymore charges. Well see. Here is the number I called if anyone needs it. 866-370-7270. You will be talking to someone in India, very hard to understand.

I work for a credit card company. We are not able to just stop a charge from posting. Can you imagine if everyone decided they didnt want to pay for something. This web site states under the terms it is a trial & you will be billed if you dont cancel within a time frame. Most websites have terms/conditions that many people check they read but dont read. More cardholders need to take a little responsibilty here. They do not read before they purchase.

The same thing happened to me as did the other bloggers about this grant search assistance provider. There was no mention of any additional fees to be be assessed to my debit card. My debit card company has blocked any further use of my card. I'm thankful that they have done this for the possible reason that this might be a scam. I'm out of the availability of using my debit card, but on the other hand it is helping to prevent possible theft from my account.

I was charged 39.95 without my approval on my bank debit card. I am a senior citizen on very limited income and am always very careful about anything I look at online to make sure I am not being charged for something I did not authorize.  I only authorized the 1.99 which seems to be a fraudulant way to get your debit card number.

I am pissed off. I opened my online bank account at 5:30 AM before having my morning cup of java, what a way to start the day. I noticed a 39.95 charge to my account, thank God I found these bloggers. Now I know what to do. I'm contacting my bank immediately and I hope that company goes to H___.

I have just finished going through the same thing.  I called my bank to try to block further charges.  I did manage to go back to the Web page where I ordered the CD.  At the bottom they do disclose a fee of $49.95 a month after the 7 day tria.  However, I was billed before I even received the CD and had a chance to try anything.  I called my bank and also a customer service number of (866) 370-7270 and talked to some lady in India who was still trying to sell the program while I'm tellling her I want to cancel.  I did find another customer service number on web page they said to call to cancel - (800) 235-1364.

Thanks for your post.  After reading your comments I went back to the web page and found the disclosure.  You are right there were terms and conditions, however, with a 7 day trial, you are billed before you even receive the "Free CD".  I also agree with you, cardholders do need to take more responsibility.  Like many others, I missed the disclosure.  Lesson learned here.

I don't know if you'll get your money back, but if you call you bank to report the unauthorized charge, they may refund the charge.  I have 2 numbers you can call to try to "cancel" whatever account these people say you have:  (866)370-7270 and (800) 235-1364
After some discussion the foreign lady on the end of the phone did agree to cancel and did provide me with cancellation numbers.

I just got off the phone with some lady from India and did manage to cancel this account.  The number I called is: (866) 370-7270.  There is another number I got from the web page (800) 235-1364.  Good Luck.  If you do manage to get through, you will be on hold for a while and they will try to get you keep you subscription, but eventually they did give me cancellation numbers and cancelled by account.

I just got off the phone with some lady who did NOT want me to speak with a supervisor or manager.  I got a couple of charges for ordering online.  They charged me $1.99 for the product, and 2 $1.00 (which they are calling a "glitch in the system."  Today I checked my bank account to find an additional $39.95 charge. I had to hang up and call the company back.  The numbers I called were (866)370-7272 and (800)986-2640.  I was very disappointed that I had to jump through so many hoops to get this charge taken off of my account.....finally!  MAKE SURE you get a cancellation reference number.  The question most asked by their reps was, "when you ordered the CD, didn't you see the free 7 day trial period you authorized sign up for?"  WHAT?  I am livid about this.  What a long and unnecessary inconvenience this is.

I to have gotten the same cd and have to admit that I did not read any small print.  All I wanted was to see if there were any programs that I could use and to my eyes there are not. I see the same programs that Mr. Lesko has in his book.  The one you see screaming at you dressed in a coat of question marks.   Guess inside I knew but really wanted to believe that there is some help out there.  Thanks for all the advice and will try to get this taken off as it hits me every month  when I don't have any money in the bank.
