Digital Star unauthorized charge

Country: United States
A preauthorization for $74.95 from Digital Star with a bad phone number (208-123-7377) showed up on my debit card account 1/29/12.  Called bank fraud department and had the account killed immediately.  They stopped the charge since it had not completed.  Do not know who Digital Star is or what the charge was for.  I use the card for online purchases mainly through Amazon.  No purchases in the last 30 dqays.  However, I placed orders in the last 60 days from a company called Turncraft (woodworking plans), Personal Creations, and Entirely Pets. I wonder what companies others have used recently.

I'm in Seattle and got the same charge & phone number as you. I called BOA and the person told me they were putting it under investigation. She said I didn't have to cancel my MasterCard but to keep a close eye on my account until I get the next statement. In fact I gave her the name of this website and she googled it as we were speaking.

Thank God I took ALL of my money out of one of the big banks and put it in my local credit union! My only connection to BOA is my MasterCard so there was no $ taken out.

People, take your money out of the big banks if you can! Show them we the people mean business. I was earning less than 20 cents a month interest on my savings acct. Now that I'm in a credit union, I earned $1.76 the first month.

BofA is penny wise and pound foolish.

Have BofA block your credit card and issue a new one.
There are some reports of repeated fraudulent charges to the same card number.
You will still have to watch closely for new fraudulent charges slipping through, but your risk is reduced.

Lisa, my account information was saved on my Amazon account because I recently purchased the Kindle Fire and I had to do that in order to purchase stuff. I am in Houston TX and I was charged for the same amount as you for $149.99 but my bank let me get the money back the same day. Bank of America wanted me to wait until it was processed and then said I would have to dispute it but I refused to let that happen since I did not authorize that payment. It was from Digital Star and they have a website but when you try to go to it there is nothing on there- no webpage displays. When I spoke with the fraud department of Bank of America they said that Digital Star is not in the United States and it is out of the country. I am going to call Amazon and report this because this is ridiculous. I hope everyone gets their money back. I had to cancel my card and get a new one. Good luck to everyone and be careful with Amazon.

Just got off the phone with BOA. Wife's card was suspended as soon as this transaction took place because it occured outside of the US. The description provided to BOA from Digital Star is that they are a Theatrical Production Company in the UK. This morning I had another $2.25 charge from them which was the "international bank fee". Quick word of advice: If you guys don't fill out the paperwork that the bank sends you and get it right back to them, your credit will be reversed and you'll have almost no chance of getting it back. I've been through this with BOA once before. Timing is very important, so do what they say in the amount of time that they prescribe and all should be good.

I had similar transaction -- checked banking online and found $74.95 charged by my debit card. I did not authorize the transaction. Filed fraud complaint w/Bank of America. I'd like to know how my account number was obtained. Some one is hacking, and when I paid my comcast bill online hacked my credentials. Reading this post reveals that the hacker has been busy in the past few days. I hope the law catches the thief or thieves.

Just got off the phone with BoA as well.  Happened to both debit cards associated with my account.  $74.95 charge plus $2.25 fee.  Charges looked the same as everyone's listed above.  Only two charges went thru, although according to the bank representative Digital Star tried posting more. The bank declined the others.  Hope this gets stopped soon.

That's bull, they can take care of it now.  I wouldn't be surprised if they are overwhelmed with the same type of call from others.

Having the same issue, Digital Star charge on my account. 74.95 + .60 fee.

I noticed this as pending on Friday night, and when I did a search for Digital Star nothing came up, but today this thread did.

FYI all that read it. It is listed as a Theatrical Talent Agent in the United Kingdom. That's the +44 Locality Code and Phone Number. Capital One is looking into it!! I had the card cancelled and a new one issued.
