I recently purchased tickets through Cheapoair.com. This is what their website said:

Travel Insurance (Recommended) Coverage includes:
Trip cancellation, trip interruption, trip delay, baggage delay, accidental death and dismemberment. Receive benefits up to $100,000. 24 hour EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE SERVICE is included with Insurance purchase. Yes, add insurance to my flight order.

What it didn't say, is that trip cancellation is only covered under medical emergencies. I have purchased insurance through delta, aa, airtran, sw air, and never had a problem. Not to mention, insurance through most of those is $15 to $20, I paid $30 for insurance through cheapoair.com and got less coverage. When I called them to speak about it, cheapoair blamed it all on the "3rd party insurance" I'm here to tell you that if you sell a product, you have some responsibility for it. To me this is false advertising, and a very shady business practice. I have filed complaints with the BBB.org, and the Federal Trade Commission. I hope you do the same with your complaints.

I just purchased tickets for my partner and myself to Italy and thought it was good/clever to take CheapOair (! how aptly named!) travel insurance. When I clicked on the policy's details, they very clearly stated under a clear heading, "Only applicable to US citizens or US residents". We are Australian and as I entered Australian passport details  how come the ticket was validated?

I emailed CheapOair to say the policy doesn't apply to non-US citizens/residents so I needed to cancel it, and I got a reply to say, "yes it does apply to Australians". Conflict of information and nowhere confirmed. But was given a telephone number to contact TripMate the Insurance Company. When I phoned them, I was put on hold for ages only to be told that the cooling off period of 12 days had expired so I was out of luck. I then phoned a different CheapOair number (all overseas numbers costing god knows what from a mobile phone in Aus!) and was answered by a friendly man who said he'd ask his supervisor and I was put on hold twice, the second time for over 20 minutes, so I have to assume that was intentional to make me go away.

Now, on re-reading the terrible TravelMate Travel Insurance Policy document in detail I see in tiny 7pt font that  one can only cancel  within 10 days of buying a policy,I'm trying to cancel the policy, but because I didn't read the tiny print in it stating one can only cancel  within 10 days of buying a policy, Yes, different number of days too!

So why wouldn't one assume CheapOair are TOTAL SCAMMERS, and that IF you had to make a claim with TravelMate, it would become a nasty unproductive saga? I'm still trying to cancel!

I am not a racist, in fact I completely agree with EOE! But my complaint is with someone who handles phone reservations and can’t speak English! It’s almost worse when it’s very broken English! I’ve had to ask for supervisors just so I could understand what was being said, only to have the supervisor speak in broken English as well! VERY frustrating!

I was late on a flight because my previous flight was delayed due bad weather. I called the Cheapoair ahead of time that I would not make on the flight because the previous flight was late.. And I asked them to change the flight date until after the weather is permit to fly. Although I had insurance purchased, they refused to change the ticket. I had to buy the new one. I lost $560 on the ticket cost and additionally I had to buy a way more expensive new ticket because the urgency. I am going to complain. But I do not know how to do so. Would anybody clarify for me where to file my complaint or claim.

I am curious if this is right. I had a round trip ticket. I was late on the Departing flight and missed it. Cheapoair used this reason to cancel my Return flight. So, because I was late on Departure flight, they cancelled my Return flight. No compensation for my losses even though I had an insurance in place. Is this a right practice?

Yes CheapOAir is the worst company in all aspects Especially during this Covid-19 pandemic. I booked a family trip 0 9 through Cheapoair to  England last Sept to go in May 2020 but of course it has been cancelled, Cheapoair will not help me at all get Ecredits with the 3 airlines, because we want to try the trip 2021, they will not even help me with the insurance.  I WILL NEVER USE CHEAPOAIR ever again. They are the worst company!!!!!
