I purchased the Google Home Business Kit for $1.95 from Pacific Webworks.com, Profitstudiolearning.com.  Supposedly this is a legimate company that sells these kits.  They turned around & charged me $69.90 without previous authorization.  The terms only said a charge of $1.95 one time setup fee.  This is a scam & Google is also a party to this for allowing this company to sell with their name.

"Supposedly this is a legimate company that sells these kits."
"They turned around & charged me $69.90 without previous authorization. "

There is your answer to how "legitimate" they are.  This is exactly how this sort of scam operates:  make a "teaser" offer for a "free-trial" or just "shipping and handling", to get account information, then pile on the charges until the "mark" (you) catches on.

"This is a scam & Google is also a party to this for allowing this company to sell with their name."

Google has nothing to do with them.  They just "borrow" their name to make them look legitimate.  Common fraud tactic.  Just like the "Wal-Mart shopping spree" scams.

Although you might as well send a complaint to Google's legal department, there is no legal obligation on Google to stop all unauthorized use of their name.  Fly-by-night scammers use legitimate companies' names all the time.  If they are engaged in one form of fraud or deception, you should not be surprised they are engaged in others.

Dispute the charges as fraud with your bank and closes the account to prevent additional fraud.

If you can't verify who a company is, you can't assume they are legitimate just because they have a web presence and can take your money.  Just because you authorize a payment doesn't mean they won't take more.

If they don't respond to or honor your request to cancel, or you cannot even contact them, treat their charges like any other unauthorized or fraudulent charge.

Contact your bank immediately to dispute all unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and close the account to prevent future fraudulent charges.  Follow up by sending your dispute IN WRITING to the dispute address on your bank statement, and make sure they get your written dispute in less than 60 days from the statement date showing the fraudulent charge to preserve your FCBA dispute rights.

It is important to cancel the card number they charged, and not just block charges from that company, or you may find additional charges under this or other names, later.  Also, be sure to watch you statements for your replacement card closely, since unauthorized charges to your old card can roll over to your new card for a few months even when they don't have your new card number.

I think this is a scam as well.  At first I was really excited about making this kind of $$$ working from home.... the cost of $1.95 was a little suspect, but I started to sign up any way.  I got as far as putting in my cc information and I stop to read the terms of agreement. As you should, and I found that I was agreeing to have my credit card charged $79 monthly after 7 days, if I failed to cancel this trial for the $1.95.  Yep there it was buried in this long legal contract of terms. They don't tell you on the main website. So be very careful when you see this kind of offer that sounds too good to be true.. and worse of all I still don't know what I would be getting for the $1.95 or the $79 the would have charged to my credit card... that list on the website is weak and misleading.  Times are hard and they are taking advantage of us.  Wake up people, there are some very dishonest people out there thinking of ways to separate you from your money 24X7.

I too was scammed.  I even had a third party call me to discuss what I was suppose to be receiving.  When he mentioned the 69.90, I informed him that it was only suppose to be 1.95.  I told him I wanted to cancel if it was 69.90.  He said I didn't have to do the 69.90 offer, I could just get the kit for 1.95.  I said I would like the 1.95 kit but not the other offer, and we ended our conversation.  A couple weeks later, I was charged 69.90 anyway.  When I called the company, they said this was "just a third party selling our product" and that they had "no authorization to cancel anything."  They refused to give me a refund and stated that all the information was in the terms and conditions.  I have NEVER had problems with internet purchases before and am very saddened that this is what our some companies have resorted to.  If anyone has any ideas of how we can fight these people and destroy this scam business, please post.

Total scam. There is no such thing I have tried to cancel my subscription and my call keeps getting "dropped". When I finally did get through it sounds as if they are on a cell phone. The woman I spoke to took my number, name, and address, then asked for my e-mial account. She stated that my account would be closed and I would receive a cancellation e-mail in the next 24 hours. I guess I'll have to close this credit card account too in order to stop the charges, if they do not go through with their word. I have also found that they use several different address which are not legimate. I hope whoever is doing this gets punished to the fullest extent!!

    Me Too!
I can identify with any number of the previous comments.  Since we don't seem to have received the "packet or CD" promised for the $1.95, isn't there some legal recourse that we can take?
