I am writing this out of shear frustration, I'm hoping that by sharing my experience with others I may find some measure of comfort.

Over the past 6 years my husband and I have been restoring our home to a level of quality we have worked our entire lives to afford. Little by little, from room to room we have had extensive work performed.

We were nearing the end of our restoration when we started to notice a leak  in our living room just next to a skylight.

We called Deegan Roofing Company Inc. of Plainfield NJ to do the work and we were met at out home by the owner where we agreed on a price and signed a contract.

It took them 3 months to show up to do the work after we were told they would be there in 2 weeks. When the Deegan Roofing Company came to perform the work they absolutely trashed our lawn and our shrubs. They left a large amount of debris on our property (which we had to clean ourselves) and it took them 3 weeks to remove a dumpster from our driveway. To top it all off, the roof leaks more then it did before any work was performed. Deegan Roofing Company Inc will no longer return our calls now that they have the check. We had to pay $3000.00 to fix the leaks on our newly installed roof.

I am absolutly livid and disappointed with the poor treatment we received from Deegan Roofing.
To say that I DO NOT recommend them is an understatement.

I feel much better now... thank you for allowing me to vent my frustrations.

    That's awful to hear.
Did you try to submit a complaint to Deega's?
If not, you should do so to see if you can have some type of reimbursment done.

I was shocked to read the above statements.  We have used Deegan several times and will continue to use them.  Sounds like it may be a competitor.  They installed a new roof last year and we used them for hurricane Sandy damage and we were satisfied.

Just curious, did they charge yu to fix the Sandy damage or was it free?

I  find this very hard to believe, because i had my roof done and it was a phenomenal price and they did an outstanding job.

I too used Deegan Roofing for my roof installation and found the entire procedure completely painless!  They were professional, courteous, my roof looks great.  I was a little nervous about undertaking such a large project as a single woman, my every phone call was returned promptly and both the owner and the staff were more than patient with me!  The clean up was good, I still find a small piece of ashpalt here and there deep in the shrubs, but they are only human.

Deegan replaced my roof in December 2008, and as part of the installation insisted on replacing the attic fan (which was only a year old).  I finally said OK, and they then said that they didn't hook up the electric because they weren't electricians.  Fast-forward to April 2009, it's getting warmer and I realized I needed to get my attic fan connected.  Guess what?  The Deegan guys threw out the thermostat with the box -- so I can't install it.  Called them, after the usual "I'm just the secretary here and someone has to come see it", I take the first appointment, today -- May 4th, 9:30am.  Take the day off work.  At 9:27am, they call to announce that because "it's raining" they can't come.  I just went ballistic -- this is in my ATTIC, not the roof!  I got put on hold, and after 20 minutes on hold I hung up, got someone else on the phone, who gave me the same garbage "We're not like other companies, we don't come to the office if it's raining."  "So," I said, "you just take the money and run."  I suggested they just mail the thermostat to me, but NO, they had to come to my house.  So here I am, waiting for another call back, it's 10:44am, and this is just SHODDY CUSTOMER SERVICE.  Be careful if you contract with this company.  The roof may be fine but your followup service will stink.

I am a little confused with the reviews, since I am on the market for the new roof. There are two Deegan Roofing Companies. One in Plainfield, and one in Scotch Plains. I did read a lot of complains all over the internet about the Plainfield one. I would appreciate if some one can specify which one are you complaining aobut.
    Thanks!

I used Deegan 6 years ago to replace my roof, including any wood that was rotted. The work and cleanup was sloppy, leaks were badly patched with tar, and it became clear it was shoddy work. I just replaced the roof again using Palermo Roofing, since Deegan had failed to replace much of the rotted wood 6 years ago, had used the wrong type shingles for the pitch of my roof, and had not properly prepared it.

We used the one in Scotch Plains, got a guarantee for 10 years on work and 25 years on material.  The same leak appeared after 3 years and it is destroying the ceiling and walls.  The office said they had no records of the work as they had a flood (perhaps from a ceiling leak due to shoddy work.). We found all the old invoices and Brian Deegan showed up and Refused to look at them.  Asked if the leak was in the same place, I said "exactly."  Then he said it could not be from the work they did!!!!  Meanwhile, he did not go on the roof to see where the damage was coming from.  When I asked about the guarantee, he said nothing was covered.  Then on the way out he said "this house if full of shoddy work."  The only shoddy work is from Deegan.  We have called several times and there is nothing but an answering machine and no one returns our calls.  My advice is stay away from them and don't recommend them.

Neither office is good. Stay away from these roofers. They lie and steal your money. Run while you can

When I had my roof done I used F.H. Home Improvements.  They described every process of the renovation from the roofing and siding, making the process incredible.  They take care of acquiring the permits and clean up is a perfect.  Call and as for Esteban 9089061423                   -John Manns

Waited for Deegan twice to see our home for a repair estimate. Never showed up, nor called to apologize. That's not what I call professionals.

This sounds like the Deegan company I know.....nobody returns your calls ...nobody has a straight story for their excuses...and nobody has an idea as to WHAT’S GOING ON. These roofers are prejudice and dishonest. Zero compassion in their customer service. To them it’s all about $ and numbers of clients. They don’t care about the quality of their service

Deegan Roofing came highly recommended.  I wanted someone I could depend on.  BIG MISTAKE.  They kept rescheduling my installation and not because of the weather.  I waited an extra month.  When trying to get a date out of them the women who answers the phones was extremely arrogant and unprofessional.  When they finally showed up the workers were nasty and used horrible language.   BUYERS BEWARE!!!
