I am writing this out of shear frustration, I'm hoping that by sharing my experience with others I may find some measure of comfort.

Over the past 6 years my husband and I have been restoring our home to a level of quality we have worked our entire lives to afford. Little by little, from room to room we have had extensive work performed.

We were nearing the end of our restoration when we started to notice a leak  in our living room just next to a skylight.

We called Deegan Roofing Company Inc. of Plainfield NJ to do the work and we were met at out home by the owner where we agreed on a price and signed a contract.

It took them 3 months to show up to do the work after we were told they would be there in 2 weeks. When the Deegan Roofing Company came to perform the work they absolutely trashed our lawn and our shrubs. They left a large amount of debris on our property (which we had to clean ourselves) and it took them 3 weeks to remove a dumpster from our driveway. To top it all off, the roof leaks more then it did before any work was performed. Deegan Roofing Company Inc will no longer return our calls now that they have the check. We had to pay $3000.00 to fix the leaks on our newly installed roof.

I am absolutly livid and disappointed with the poor treatment we received from Deegan Roofing.
To say that I DO NOT recommend them is an understatement.

I feel much better now... thank you for allowing me to vent my frustrations.

    I noticed that Michael Palermo has advertised himself on this website through the negative postings about other companies (he did the same regarding Penyak Roofing....advertised his website when someone wrote something negative about that company).  That to me would be a concern..instead of using his time and effort to advertise in a regular fashion, he is doing so by researching negativity about other contractor companies and posting himself as a way to generate business.  Is he that desperate for jobs???  That would make me stay away!

      Deegan And Penyak both stink...I'm also a contractor who fixes their stuff .Check out how many lawsuits they have against them.They hire anyone who says they can put on roofing..They don't even check on them..Sure, some jobs are simple and come out good..But its when a complicated job shows up is when the dummys don't perform well...Good luck Amy...

    These reviews are all a joke and completely worthless.  One person absolutely hates the company while the next person saying that the company is the best thing since sliced bread.  I wonder if ANY of these posts is legitimate!  I suspect it's ownership vs. competitors.  Anyway, screw you all I'm going to do my own roof...

    no AMY you have it wrong, i am advertising myself because i had to redo poor workmanship of other contractors,,if you read all of the post you will notice that,,i satistfy unsatisfisfyed clients..i was told about this site from other clients of mine. and no i am not desperate for work.

    Hi Mr. Palermo.  What I'm simply questioning is why you have to advertise yourself on a venue that is used to criticize your competitors.  That to me just seems as if you're a company that is trying to gain work from other company's negative feedback.  Quite honestly, there is no reason for you to be writing anything on this website, whether you really have had to fix poor workmanship of other contractors.  It seems as if you are writing to be a hero and are pretending to save the day. Like I said in my original post, your workmanship should speak for itself.

    that's his wife, Diane. They are both EXTREMELY rude and do not care about their workers. If the worker's give you attitude or are rude, it's not excuse, but then again i can't blame them with how Mr. Deegan treats them.

    Please people keep in mind there are 2 deegan divisions. The one located on terrill road have wonderfulservice and unbeatable prices. They were a delight to work with. The owners I believe brothers brien and mike are simply the best around hands down

      That other division is Deegan Brothers and they are in Hunterdon County. They installed roofs on 7 neighbors homes  in our development and it was a professional and pleasant experience. The roofs and all new gutters on all seven homes was completed in three days. We would recommend them highly!

    I wish that I had come across this website before signing a contract with Deegan Roofing in Plainfield. I was shocked at the bait and switch tactics. We agreed to a price and they come back to me with 40 sheets of plywood needed replacement. I had one leak localized in the one area and 80% of my roof plywood was replace. I'm fighting the extras that they want to charge. I now know how to negotiate the roofing and plywood costs.  Lesson Learned and I would not recommend them to anyone.

      at least they put plywood down i wish they would have put plywood down on mine i have a new roof from them that was completely done wrong and cant even put a second layer of roofing it all has to come completely off as deegan roofing laughs in my face because the warranty expired. Lookin for a good lawyer so i can laugh in there faces for deceptive practice i would love to take a a full page ad in the suburban news about there workmanship and there fraudulant practices WATCH THIS COMPANY THEY WILL SCREW YOU WITHOUT YOU EVEN KNOWING IT HALF OF MY UPSTAIRS IS RUINED BECAUSE OF THEM

    I used Deegan one year ago for a roof re-tile...not only were they (brian) professional.lowest price..cared about my choice for shingles (i was a bit nervous as I was changing color, style ect...) they started on the back of my garage so I could see it to make final decision...it was FLAWLESS and THE BEST CHOICE I made...THANK you DEEGAN!!  from Millington, nj

    A very satisfied Deegan Roofing Customer
    I don't know how many Deegan roofers there are but I, and many of our neighbors, used the Deegan Roofers with a Scotch Plains office (the ones with the signs with green lettering).  These people are fabulous.  Mike came out to look at a leak in my living room, which is not even coming from the roof (there is no sign of a leak on the second floor).  I highly recommend these people.

    Lucky you. They repaired mine and it is worse than it was. It cost me yelling and degrading myself for them to come out. Now my problem is worse than ever. Even my bedroom is leaking. With any wind at all my roof shingls fall apart. Mike spoke with me and sent someone outright but the job is not done!!

    Percario was way tooooooooo expensive! He was more than double any other estimate I received and was going to use the same brand, same quality materials as the others!!!

    I had my roof replacd by Palermo some 13 yrrs ago, and never a leak until Irene came to NJ,  called Michael Palermo up and he was at my house by that afternoon to see what he could do to help mitigate any loss.  Fixed the roof, and said he would be back to seal a few things that should just be done at about the 15 yr mark.  Great Contractor great quality work and none of my shrubs got killed in process!!!

      i just called and he wants to charge $75.00 for an "insurance estimate" - but he has listed on his web site "FREE ESTIMATES"

    I just wanted to say there is a Deegan broth in Bloomsbury, and I do not know if there is an affiliation. They also have the green signs, but I do not know their work but I see their sign all over the Warren County.

    A DISATISFIED AND ANGRY CUSTOMER
    BEWARE --
    I would NOT recommend Deegan Roofing.  I had a repair job done in Feb. 2011 after the snow and it is still leaking.  Called them and George came by to inspect.  He said he would come back in a week and surprise, surprise, he has never returned.  I have called at least 6 times and after no call back, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.  The had no problem taking my money.  They have to be accountable for their work !!!!!

    if these jobs are not satisfying to people why do they have an A+ rating with the BBB & why didn't you get a copy of their insurance?  I believe the estimate has that they have insurance.
