There was an automatic bank withdrawal to this company that I did not authorize. I do not know how they know my banking acct. BUT I want my money reimbursed and this to stop immediately or I will sue this company for theft. I was a member of AOL over a year ago it took me forever to take me off their accts. and stop withdrawals. Now I have to call the bank. This is not right. This is THEFT.

The New York Attorney General reached a settlement with them:

A number of other state Attorneys General also reached a settlement recently with them:

Dispute the unauthorized charge thru your bank, in writing, within 60 days of the date of the bank statement showing the charge. Also, contact your state Attorney General, or one in one of the states that reached a settlement with AOL, to find out if there is a specific point of contact that AOL is required to provide to resolve unauthorized charges for cancelled accounts.
When you were an AOL member, did you pay them thru charges to your bank account to which this charge was made, or by some other means such as another account or a credit card?
If this is the same account that you once used for their payments when you were a member, you may need to close this account to prevent future unauthorized charges.
Also notify them immediately by phone, close that account, and get a new account number, to prevent further unauthorized charges. If requested, send them a fraud affidavit.
You might also notify AOL that they have been making unauthorized charges to your account, that you have filed a fraud dispute thru your bank or CC company, and that they must cease and desist.
Send it certified, return receipt requested:

Keep copies of everything you send, including "green cards", as AOL has a reputation both for resuming charging after termination, and sending alleged "accounts" to collections even when they should have been terminated earlier with no balance due. You may have to obtain help from your state AG, and your documentation should assist you in getting the matter resolved.

The consultant at AOL told me that they will close the fraudulent account within 24 hours. They are mailing me an affidavit and a refund request. I must sign the affidavit and return it along with the refund request and a billing statement within 30 days. The request will then be reviewed and supposedly a credit will be issued at that time. Only time will tell.
Poor girl was young and I didn't make her day.
By the way, I've never had an account with AOL.
I do not know a phone number to contact these people for resolve the problem.
