Receiving calls to lower my interest rate on credit cards

Complaint

Country: United States
I received a call ths morning at 10:40am from 469-544-0742, with a recorded voice telling me that I needed to act now to save money on my credit cards or the offer would expire.  Then I was given an option to press a number to be connected with a live operator and the option to press another number to stop receiving any more "notifications".  I pressed to speak to the "operator" to ask why they're calling me since I am on the Do Not Call list and I don't even have credit cards.  He immediately hung up on me.

I tried to call the number back and learned that it was obviously a spoofed caller ID, the number I tried was disconnected.  This is the third call in just a couple of months like this, each with a different number that is not working.

    Ben getting the same crap myself. Wait till the end and press zero. Obviously they don't care. Reached an operator today and when I explained it to him, he hung up. I filled a complaint with the FTC. Here are the numbers and dates I have received taken from the history on my machine;
    749-000-5263  5/24
    984-000-2231  5/13
    800-442-6002  5/4
    265-000-2899  4/28
    800-442-6002  4/28

Somehow we have to stop this BS since law enforcement and our government, that we pay out of our taxes, aren't going to do anything.
Telemarketers and lawyers should be shot. If you can't do any better than a telemarketing job, you need to just kill yourself. Fast food is more respectable than telemarketing.

      Lovely replies to Sam
Have you ticked off your employer? Or are you new to the company that you work for? Ticked off your client?

I keep getting these calls too so I played along today and said I had more than $5k in credit card debt but I didn't have the cards with me. He said he would call back and asked for my number so I gave him the number to the better business bureau. I don't understand why they want to scam people with high balances. It seems like they would want the people with low balances.

I have been getting these messages for years and the frequency gradually increases.  I know it is a scam and why they hang up when you ask which card they are calling on.  I  DO get tired of deleting the messages and stopping to sort out real calls from the criminal element.  I have almost decided to eliminate the land line after 36 years here.

    Mad.
I have received several calls and sometimes 3 or 4the times Assyrian I have pushed 3 to stop receiving Calla but they continue. I think I need to report the numbers to the FCC and also the BBB maybe then they will stop. I have even spoke to a couple of people and they said they would remove me.

I got four calls in the span of 30 minutes this morning.  The tried to speak to the operator but they hang up once you begin to speak about removal.  The only thing you can do is scream as loud as possible when the operator answers.  Be as loud and offensive as possible, you've got 2 seconds tops.  It's quite cathartic.

I've contacted my local AG's office regarding what can be done and will contact the FTC.  Good luck, folks.

Can add me to the list of complaints, I was just hung up on about 15 minutes ago for the second time.  A recording says I can click number two to discontinue the calls, when I did, a man who spoke in broken English started trying to get info from me.  I told him I pushed number two which means, I want the calls discontinued. I also informed him that I am on the No, Call List.   He hung up on me.   And They just called me back again.  WTH.    I don't have any balances on any of my charge cards. I haven't used a charge card in a few years.  How the hell did they even get my phone number?  I am sick to death of these phone calls, I have been recieving them from diff. numbers now for at least 5 months.  Hung up my phone on them so many times but they still keep calling me back.  They have called my house 4 or 5 times a day.

I also keep getting these calls. Today was the best one yet. I was asking the first woman I spoke with to take me off the list. She kept talking over me with a definite Indian accent, then another man with an Indian dialect broke in and said: "no, we call more". I asked him if he was saying he wouldn't call anymore and he said again: "NO, WE CALL MORE AND MORE" and hung up. All I could do is laugh as I thought it was the funniest thing. The number was: 972-300-0001, Carrollton, TX.

I'm not saying Indian accent to be derogatory just as a point of reference.

    What to do??

I have gotten calls from "Lower Interest Rates" on several occasions. They call when no one is home usually. The funny thing is they leave a message but only the tail end is picked up on the answering machine. I just delete themessage.
Caller ID is the best thing. I simply ignore calls from numbers I don't recognize.

    It worked!
I had this going on for nearly 6 months back in 2011, and I did everything to try and get them to stop. Finally, I decided to scream absolute FILTH to them, and after about 4-5 times, it worked! Haven't had a call since - in about a year. Think up the best you can ahead of time (unless these words are a part of your daily vocabulary ;) What worked for me was 'you m-f'ing-c-sucker,go f yourself you little c' and they hung up! Like I said, after 4 times, they never called back again.

Same thing:  832-377-3059.  They ask if I have more than $4000 in credit card debt... When I say no, they immediately hang up.  Next time I'm gonna act black & pretend I'm [***] so I can keep them on the phone for as long as possible

Hey,  I think I may have a solution.....What if we all contact our phone companies and tell them that we want to terminate their services due to these calls.   I wonder if enough of us did that, if it would make the PHONE COMPANIES get on the stick....Sort of like what happened to Progressive Insurance when enough people demanded action....they listened...We should organize and drop our land lines with an explanation to the companies.....STOP THESE CALLS,or lose our money

THESE telemarketers and similar scams are to be looked upon with disdain, but although general telemarketing is almost always obnoxious and I'll-timed, they are just people trying to make a living how they see fit...the ridiculous "credit recovery company" call for my "Visa" that doesn't exist, however.....they are evil and need to be indicted
