Your threat would be consistent with some often reported phony "debt collectors" in India or Pakistan known for making threats over the phone, possibly having access to U.S. credit information used to fake "debts".
Caller id may be spoofed, which is easy when originated from call center equipment.
This phone number calls me everyday about 5 times a day, it seems a little unusual for a crank caller to had found my number, first time I picked up, the caller seem to have a static background so I could not hear much, I also had someone else pick up and yet again no response just random noises in the background. I tried calling back but it says the server is discounted. Do not pick up to this phone number if they call you!

My wife receives 2-3 calls a day from this number. I have answered it in the past and there was just static on the line. I answered it today and a male asked for my wife by name. I told him she was busy and asked who was calling. He replied, "The Boogeyman". I hung up without replying. All I can deduce is it is a male, 20-30 yo, talks like he is from The Hood, an ethnic minority, is inside a small building, and the background sounds like bacon cooking.
My question is this. There are alot of idle threats, anger, and heresay about stopping this guy. Does anyone have good information about how we can get the proper authorities involved? I am not taking anything away from those really emotional victims out there. My goal is to take a practical, rational and legal approach to solve this problem. We have been receiving prank calls on our land-line number from this number 718-542-7472. When we call the number back it says the number is out of service. Or when we pick up nobody says anything. Got theses calls on Fri.Feb.17,2012 11:20am & 2:44pm.Again on Sun. Feb. 19,2012 at 10:25am & 11:56am. We looked up the number (718-542-7472). It said it's a land-line and to the name of Felix Ceballos from New York(Bronx,New York). We need to legally stop this crazy person and look into him spending alittle jail time!
I have been getting multiple calls a day from this person for several weeks now as well. I never answer and no message is ever left. After reading posts on several websites it seems I am not the only one and agree with your idea. Although, it does make me curious as to what type of response I would get if I answered. On one website I checked quite a number of people said they started getting these calls after researching collages online. My husband has been doing job searches on line since he got laid off and uses my phone number for contact. He also checks no on the box that asks if he is interested in furthering his education, he is in his 50s, not interested, but we still get numerous calls from colleges and now this, maybe this has something to do with it? I don't know where you are but we are in FLA and complaints seem to be coming from all over the country. Maybe the federal govt has a website for something like this as it seems to be a nationwide problem as opposed to a state by state problem. Maybe that would be a place to start? Good luck, I am going to try to look into that myself.
Interesting...I started getting the same pattern of calls from this number after I checked a box about furthering my education as part of a way to see some job postings. Plenty of calls,but no job postings. Sounds like a scam that just keeps going on and on.
I am having the same problem. At least three times a day. No message, no response when I answer and when I call back it says the number is disconnected. Its more frustrating than anything, at least at this point. However, last year I had a caller identifying himself as a lawyer saying there was a warrent for my arrest for theft by deception, bank fraud all kinds of stuff. Well when I asked which police district they were in so I could speak with the police about these "charges" they hung up on me. I traced the number to NY, spoke with the police and found out it was an identity theft scam, guess people in NY have alot of time on their hands.

I think what it will take to get rid of him is for somebody in New York that he is harrassing to report him to the Bronx Police Department and the local phone company at the address on Beck Street. I don't know how he affords the phone bill he must be running up, as the information I have says he owns a landline phone, but his carrier is Verizon New York, Inc. If he has unlimited long distance calls, as Verizon can provide to their customers, he could be calling people in foreign countries for all we know. But if somebody knows how to find the Bronx office for Verizon and goes to the office manager to report him, Verizon will probably threaten him with terminating his service."

I received a call from this number today and the caller ID said "Felix Ceballos" with the number 718-542-7472. When I answered there was no one there. I'm reporting this because I have been receiving several calls through out the week from many different numbers from all over the U.S. Non of which make sense, nor have anything to do with my family or I. I have received calls from California, Texas, New York, Kansas, and Florida. Unfortunately I did not keep those numbers. Should they come up again, I will post them. When I got the call from California (2 calls within 15 min) The first call asked for Kristen, and the second call asked for Katie. Seemed odd to my husband and I that the names where so similar! I was told that these calls are spoof calls from overseas. They are stolen numbers and the people on the other end are trying to get your number. My suggestion to everyone and I guess myself....don't answer it if you don't know the number or name!

recieved at 10 calls from this number in the past week, no one on the other end just hangs up after about 5 sec. when i call back the number is disconnected i wonder how they are able to do that and i read all the comments and this has been going on for some time and no one can stop this i think thats crazy.

Over the last week or so I have been getting a lot of calls from this number. I have not yet picked it up (mostly cause I get the calls when I am at work) but generally I get called about 2 or 3 times per day. When I try to call back the number does not dial. Comes up as Bronx, New York on my phone.

I am wondering what the common factor is.I do not use my phone for internet. BUT my number is connected to ebay and paypal. The man on the other end asked for me by the right name. My name is unique so I am sure he has access to at least some information about me. My phone is in my husbands name. Is a phishing scam? Like the other people I said that I was unavailable, the caller just hung up, but when I called back the number was not in service.
