My membership got transfered from Bally to Blast and I never was informed, since I didn't care for Blast I asked for a refund of my membership and this has been such a task!!
Bally's states that my membership is no longer with them and I have to call Blast, Blast tells me that Bally's charged me and I have to call them???. So far I have no moneys from either one of the clubs, I even was told by Blast that I have to go to a Bally's club to cancel again (I'm in Tx and bally's is in CA). I wonder if anyone knows how to go about it or how to sue both of this places??
or maybe I'll just take a plane ride to try to get my $181.86 and enjoy the nice CA weather!!!

    another mad texan
We are also having the same problem with Blast Fitness. We never received any notice of the changes. My husband and I were in an accident and put our account on hold for three months. As soon as we could we got back to the gym. The very day I went back, mid July, the hot tub, sauna and steam rooms were all down. A month later.... still down. Two weeks later find out that the steam rooms have been condemned by the board of health and Blast has no plans on fixing it. Told them then and there that we are canceling, they are still billing us and as of today...... all of the above are still not working.

Wondering where to try to cancel but
I want to officially cancel since I also was never informed of takeover.  Once I send a certified letter to the address I will give them a month and then I will ask my bank to hold payment to them.

It kinda makes me sick that there seems to be no law about this.
If the owner changes, then the customer should have the choice to cancel their contract or continue by signing a new one with the new company!
Charging ex-customers well past the cancellation seems to be a fashion sport and nobody cares. How can budget gyms get away with charging people way after their cancellation. This is FRAUD and nobody seems to care. Make some real laws that protect us customers from these law breaking, frauding, budget gym bullies!

I just got off the phone with Blast fitness trying to cancel. The lady says I have to go to the club(where I haven't even been in 6 months) and sign a waiver- then send an email to cancel- then a letter to cancel. And in the meantime I will be charged for another month for me and my son. This is not fair. And what is this waiver for??? I was a happy Bally's member until Blast took over. This is a mess!!!

Wow, EXACTLY the same thing happened to our club on Webb Chapel in Dallas, regarding the condemned wet area!  Every week or so, we go check on the status, and they always have the same b.s. story about it being repaired in the upcoming couple of weeks.  This has been going on for 4 or 5 months now.  I can't figure out how to cancel either.

Wow, just walking from the locker room to the shower and bumped into two male staff in the shower area. No warning no signs nothing! After complaining and receiving an unacceptable response about about the men being accompanied by a female I'm off the fence and want a refund or Ballys back. Blast is so so poorly managed!

We are in Irving and are having the same problems. They renew your Bally membership without your permission. Getting a refund is a big hassle. My partner got his refund for the year and they just charged again for the whole year! Makes no sense!

They notified all members of the Houston Memorial location on February 8th that the location would close on February 21st.  I gave them notice that day I would cancel as their other locations are not convenient to me.  They came back that because I did not give the 30 days notice of cancellation they would charge me for another month dues.  Hello - I cannot give you 30 days notice if you only give me 13 days notice you will close!!!!!

Of course I do not have a signed contract with Blast.  They purchased this former Bally's.  My contract with Bally's was club specific - I did not have the rights to use other Bally's. I've filed a BBB complaint against them.

I had been going to the Bally Fitness Memorial location when Blast took over in May. It has been all down hill since day one. Now Blast has closed the club with only 2 weeks notice. I filled out a form to cancel membership but they said I cannot cancel because there in still another club in my area at Sharpstown. The Sharpstown club is rundown and is in a very bad and dangerous location. I have no intention of using the Sharpstown club. I don't think it's fair to close the club i have using for the last 13 years and then expect me to go to a funky club 8 miles away in a bad area. Don't join Blast Fitness !!!

WOW! I was looking at reviews of Blast Fitness in Minnesota because I wanted to get a membership for my mom. I don't really know about the Bally changing to Blast. But I sorta had similar problems with Xperience Fitness as well. I wasn't able to pay for my membership anymore because I was unemployed, but they made all these complicated steps for me to cancel my membership and everything. Which, in my opinion was completely insane! I think it's ABC Financial Services that makes everything complicated.

I had the same problem with ABC Blast I called the office at memorial area and ask to cancel membership but they did not!! Still they kept taking my money; and when I ask them for refund they said they can't refund me since I did not cancel the membership. So I decided to remove my bank information; now they keep calling me ask for the payment and threaten to take me to the collection. This company is just a rip off...

Same damn problem!!  Before moving out of Texas for work in January I followed all proper steps to discontinue my membership, hitting all possible ways to cancel.  That includes sending a fax letter, email, letter, and called!  Now, after six months, they still are trying to charge me when I cancelled.  I blocked them payment, but now they threaten debt collection. F**k that!! Seriously, that is just wrong. I was a Bally member, NOT Blast.  Very upset.  How could a company like this have the ability to ruin someone's credit for their wrongdoing.  I'm really upset.
