Sadly, I must admit that I was also a victim of Freescore/Identity Hawk's scam. Since 5/14/2011 we were happy customers of FreeScore.com. However, it came to my attenttion today that along with our monthly charge of $29.95 to freescore, we were also being charged $29.95 by Identity Hawk. After 5 months, I finally caught it. I would have caught it sooner but it was not my account that was being charged, it was my boyfriend's. Like so many, he isnt always the best at watching his account for suspicious activity. Anyway, I found this today. After researching the company, I found that FreeScore.com and IdentityHAwk.com are pretty much the same company headed by Vertrue, Inc. I wasnt so surprised when I pulled up the BBB website and found that this company is given an F on a scale from "A+ - F". Anyway, if you go to the following web site (http://www.bbb.org/nebraska/business-reviews/ ... ha-ne-107000028) you will see that FreeScore/IdentityHAwk are "alternate business names" for Vertrue, Inc. and that Vertrue has and is being investigated for this specific issue.

I called IdentityHawk today, which ended up being the same number for freescore, and I demanded that my account be cancelled with the both of them. After being laughed at and placed on hold numerous times, I recieved confirmation numbers for the cancellation of both accounts. From what I have read, I can probably look forward to additional charges being applied to my account. Unfortunately, Im thinking we will just have to close out our current bank account and open a new one. LAstly, I did send out Certified letters to both "companies" demanding a "cease and desist" of the billing to our account. Who knows if any of it will work but at least it has made me feel a bit more in control. Oh, I also filed a complaint with the BBB and with the FTC. Next stop, the Michigan Attorney General. I know we wont get our money back but at least we can add another voice to the crowd of this company's victims.

PLease, pass the word to everyone not to use FreeScore.com or IdentityHawk.com. I know, from now on, we will definitely be researching companies prior to opening accounts with them. Oh and I dont know if anyone else has listed it but in my research, this has also happened to Mylife.com customers and Amazon Customers. The difference is that they were only charged $19.95 a month where we were charged $29.95 a month.

    Good luck everyone.

I have a similar story. I used freescore to check my credit score. I cancelled freescore the NEXT day to ensure I would not have any charges to my bank account. freescore has some nerve to give my credit card information to a different website.
I called identityhawk who had charged me $29.95. I thought it was kind of funny that i signed up for freescore on september 12th yet i didnt get billed from identityhawk until september 29, which just so happens to be the day i got paid. as soon as my direct deposit went into my account identity hawk charged me exactly 7 minutes later. hmmmm thats weird.
so i called identity hawk and had to speak to 3 people until i got my money refunded. this is ridiculous and i will definitely be reporting BOTH companies and i urge everyone else to do the same!

Just saw my statement and saw that I have been billed thru identityhawk for 3 consecutive months at $29.95/month without my knowledge. Spoke with a customer service who transfered me to a supervisor in which I lost my cool and ripped him a new one. I signed up for freescore.com in Jun, 2011 and cancelled their membership in 3 days so I thought nothing of it. Didn't realize that it was freescore.com, who basically provided my information to identiyhawk until this forum. This is outrageous they are supposed to provide fradulent charges to your name but yet they are the ones doing it. The supervisor I spoke to said HIS name was Stephanie in which I replied "Are you joking" because he was male, in which he replied I am a female, my wife was right next to me (speaker on) and we both knew this guy was BSing. Finally he agreed to refund my most recent charge, but I am still out $60. I work hard for my money and do not appreciate such illegal charges to be pulled directly out of my account without my approval. If I remember correctly freetriplescore had a class action lawsuit for not informing consumers about membership charges. I think that we all need to do the same and get more back for our time and grief in which we all dont need in our already stressful lives..

yea happened to me with freescore.com but i did just figured out how to log into the idenityhawk account. call the 800 790 4814. and it will ask you how you will be identified. phone, or card number. it wil then give you your membership id and you then will be able to log into your account with them..problem s that it has no link to your billing history with them.. has your ssn and everything but you cant fid your billing history... hrrible scam. calling them first thing for my money back.. ppl please read this and do not.. i repeatDO NOT sing up with freescore.. they will do the same to you.

I too just had this happen to me, I disputed 2 months of charges that I did not authorize with identityhawk for 29.95 each on my capital one card. Funny thing is, although I did use freescore for a couple of months and paid their membership fee, I called and canceled that after I fixed my score enough to buy a house. I was told that I wouldnt get charged any more. All they did was charge me through a different company name, but it's the same company!!! i am so furious! I'm a single mom, every penny counts, so if capital one doesnt refund the charges i am going to sue the hell outta somebody!

Funny you should say that you spoke with a "Stephanie."  He/she also was placed on the phone with me after my initial phone conversation with one of their "stoolies/morons."  He/she said that I needed to fax the page on my bank statement to 402-661-2515, and they would "look into it, not guaranteeing that this charge would be removed." Yep, since I already had read your email re "Mr. Stephanie," I told him that he sure didn't SOUND like a "Stephanie."  He IMMEDIATELY shut me down by saying "thank you very much for calling Identity....."  I piped in before he/she hung up and said with a big chuckle, "You KNOW YOU'RE A MAN, STEPHANIE."  HEHEHE.  WHAT A RIP OFF!!!  I am just going to call my bank and tell them that it was unauthorized (which it was, it was supposed to be $14.95) and I end up getting charged $19.95 by two different entities: Identity Hawk and Privacy Matters. Plus, whomever gets on the phone at this outfit is a MAN pretending to be a WOMAN!!! This is DEFINITELY A SCAM. "Stephanie" just does not want to provide HIS identity in order to very conveniently pass the buck if anybody who has legal authority over operations such as these tries to pin them down....hmmm. how convenient!  Someone needs to threaten to open a can of 'whoop _ss' on Mr. Steph next time he heads to the phone line. i

They stole my credit card information from another company and A PSYCHO WOMAN NAMED CHARLOTTE claimed I set it up on my own.  I called within the one week "trial" period when I found out, but the PSYCHO WOMAN NAMED CHARLOTTE would not reimburse what they stole.  I told her she needs to stop all future transactions at least and she promised she would.  It has been 7 months.  I've called at least twice a month since then to get them to leave me alone, and every time I get THE PSYCHO WOMAN NAMED CHARLOTTE who puts me on hold and never comes back, or hangs up.  IF YOU GET A CHARGE FROM THEM, CONTACT THE AUTHORITIES IMMEDIATELY.  YOU WILL NEED TO PRESS CHARGES TO GET RID OF THEM.  Even if you put a fraud alert on your card or even cancel the card they are charging, they will hunt you down, they will not leave you alone, and they will force you to do business with them, when I have STILL, yet to understand just what service they claim to have offered me.  They are the kings of all all identity theft scams- do everything you can to stay away from them.  This is by far the worst one I've ever seen and I'm appalled they are still allowed to do business.

I think we should flood their offices with calls calling out the scam all day. I just spoke with them about charging me when I've never heard of them, the manager, giggled when I asked for a refund and said, "no, no refund but we won't charge you again." what was I supposed to say, ghee thanks doll. This is ridiculous.

Don't have a complaint just a suggestion...why don't you get together and make class lawsuit against the company? Is that possible. They shouldn't be able to get away with taking your money under the disguise of being a company.

Valid point.  How would someone pursue such an action?  Any advice?

Normally don't pay much attention to my credit card statements.  However, today I thoroughly looked at last month's Mastercard bill and noticed the same as everyone is saying here.  I had signed up thru Freescore for the 5 day "free" trial period. Canceled after 3 days.  This was back in November 2011.  Just took a good look my bank statements for every month since then and "POW"!  I was socked with a $14.95 charge each month, and also a charge from Freescore for the first month!  "You've gotta be kidding me", I thought.  Good news is that I contacted my CC company, Capital One.  I was only on the phone with them for less than 10 minutes and they are processing my refund as we speak.  Seems like this has been a frequent occurrence that, at least Capital One, and I'm sure other CC companies are aware of.

That being said, my advice is to contact your credit card company.  If it is a good, reliable banking establishment, you will most likely get the same fast, effective assistance.

A BIG thanks to Capital One  for taking care of this for me.
