Dillards refuse to take returns after 13 days

I bought a pair of shoes from Dillards 13 days ago. When I went to return it today I was told that they have a 3 day return policy and I could not return the shoes. I find this unacceptable as no one told me that when I purchased the shoes. I find this consumer policy completely unacceptable - what recourse do I have?

Moron...read your receipts. We don't have time to explain our return policy to every idiot that comes into our store. The return policy is 30 days unless it's 65% or more off...then it is only 3 days. EVERY SINGLE ITEM THAT IS A 3-DAY RETURN LIMIT IS MARKED IN BOLD ON YOUR RECEIPT!! And I guarantee someone told you that when your dumbass tried to return it, however, you didn't put that on your post because you're one of the losers who thinks "the customer is always right". Don't ever come back in our store.

Wow! You are the one who is acting like the dumb ass idiot! Dillard's return policy does Suck! She  has the right to return her shoes if she wanted to and was not satisfy with the shoe selection she has chosen for herself or someone else! Perhaps it was not as comfortable as she thought, or a gift. It could have been anything! That why I hate Dillard's return policy it does not give the consumer any flexible options like Macy's or Nordstroms wtf 3 day policy jus because it on same gtfoh! Macy's or Nordstroms if it a on sale for. $5.00 you can return them even the same for Saks Fifth Avenue! I worked for all tee company's and we kept happy consumers that gave the flexible reruns options everyday that meet theirsneeds no 3 day policy! Dillard's need to revamp heir return policy and maybe they will be numbe one in the retail change until then I beleive they will always be at the bottom!

FYI, I read my receipt when purchasing at Dillard's and it did say 3 day return right at the top (it was a great sale price).  BUT, no one stated that to me at the time of purchase. I just happened to notice it at home when I was looking for another receipt.  So, whoever started the post here probably was no told by the sales person

“buy them again for the 1 day i will need them and return them again”
You’re the reason strict return policies exist.  Sounds like you plan to wear them for the “1 day” needed and then return. 😡

Wow, service with a smile. Dillards must be really desperate for warm bodies. This is just one example why the store is lagging behind all other brick and mortar retailers. I bet Dillards is proud to have a you as their brand adcocate for their online presence.  Reputation is down the toilet and this is one of the reasons. Return policy is crap, don't understand how this [***] establishment stays is business with the likes of Amazon, Zappos, and Nordstoms. Won't be long until this idiot is ringing you up at Big Lots.

happy for the discount replies to I Hate Idiot Customers
I was made aware  of Dillard's 3 day policy on purchases reduced to 65 percent off by the salesperson who waited on me, and she also advised me that the date of purchase was considered to be the first of the three days. I would never have looked at my receipt, and am indebted to the employee. Now I that I  am aware of the policy, I don't mind it at all. I like getting the discount. I also like their merchandise. However, I have held back on buying some merchandise for someone else as I don't know if I will be seeing them in the next two days, and won't risk the money. I wonder if the policy is good, or maybe should be changed to thirty days.
I am assuming that you are not the official spokesperson for Dillard's, or an employee, as I have thought that they only hired people with class.  I have to say that your response to the dissatisfied customer was not what I would call a professional way of handling the complaint, as I am sure that Dillard's would still appreciate her business in the future.

Really this is how your company replies to and speaks to your customers.  I would not dream of someone working and representing a store coming out of there mouth like that at a customer without receiving immediate termination papers.  You should be ashamed of yourself!  Dillards return policies are unfair and are not on the same level as most other stores.  After reading your post I will be doing my shopping at your competitors.

With that attitude, I'm surprised you still work at Dillard's.  Why do you think it's okay to call any person, whether a customer of Dillard's or not, a dumbass?

No, I cannot believe the AHO who wrote these insults works for Dillard's.  Dillard's is a professional retail company that would hire the best; this insulting jerk cannot represent Dillard's.

Why are you even in customer service??? You're probably the same customer service rep who attempted to "help" us with a return, while stuffing food in her mouth and touching the clothing items we were attempting to return with nasty greasy hands!!!!!   Dillard's should have taken the stuff back based on the customer rep's lack of professionalism!   Does your supervisor or corporate even know how unprofessional you are in your posts with your name calling--Idiot? Moron?  Dumbass?  Loser?  I wonder if you voice these comments out loud when assisting a customer or do you just hide behind anonymous posts with your childish outbursts?  Grow up and start acting like a professional!!!  BTW not everyone reads their receipt before returning merchandise, whether it is in bold or in fine print, and as you claim, not every rep informs you of the three-day return policy.   FYI-your job is to assist the customer with all questions they may have, no matter how "dumb" you think these questions are.  Shame on you and shame on Dillard's for employing you!

Very harsh, can't you explain things without calling names.... customers are customers, if you are a Dillard's employee, you should retake your "how to" communicate with customers.

Customer service is no longer practiced within department stores. Every patron matters and it doesn't take a huge brain to be able to delineate those who are being less than genuine; however, it does require one. Without having specific situational awareness regarding an individual the response is less than reasonable and additionally doesn't require derogatory/demeaning juvenile behavior.

You guys are the idiots, for thinking that we , as customers have to come to dillards to shop. There are plenty of other stores that value their customers , and treat them with respect, not like dillards stupid return policy!  Returning something to dillards is nothing but a hassle, for real. I returned 2 items to dillards the other day, had my receipt, pop labels were on the  items, and items were in perfect condition. Some of the items were paid with a gift card, some with a debit bank card, and some with cash, well , they refunded the 40 dollars cash to me , but would not give me the 100 dollars back, they put it back on my debit card, they said, but would take 4 or 5 days to appear on my account! In other words , they got their money immediately when I  purchased the items, but I have to wait several days , to get it back! Huh I  wonder why that is ? It seems to me , they want to keep your money as long as they can, probably for interest , they can collect on people's money!  I didn,t mind getting a gift card for a portion of the amount, but they should have refunded the debit amount immediately , beings I used a pin #.   They don,t teach their sales help how to do anything , they just turn them loose on the floor, and tell them to sell as much as they can, some of them are so inexperienced , they shouldn,t even be there!  It will be a long time, if ever, that I will spend my money at dillards.!

I am sure Dillard's would not be proud of how you responded to this question.  Why are you so angry and mean?  A little kindness goes a long way.  She has her right to be unhappy with the return policy but she did call anyone names or be disrespectful like you did.  I sure hope your life improves.

This is sad that a person representing Dillard's would respond this way.  I know that you are not using your name, but surely you understand that what goes around comes around.  Not sure if you still work with Dillard's after all this but try to be professional when you respond to others.  This is sad.

If you really do work at Dillard’s. You should immediately get out of the retail/ customer service industry in general. The only thing idiotic is the three day rule, when it is not in fact 65% or less. It’s been applied to a shirt I bought my dad that was half off and in the busy holiday last minute shopping season, looking at the receipt and rather opting for a gift receipt it does not state so. The clerk did not mention it once, making it misleading and deceitful. Maybe instead of being so annoyed by customers because they’re intruding on “your time”, you should state the policy. Just good ethics. I hate idiotic employees such as yourself.
