Dillards refuse to take returns after 13 days

I bought a pair of shoes from Dillards 13 days ago. When I went to return it today I was told that they have a 3 day return policy and I could not return the shoes. I find this unacceptable as no one told me that when I purchased the shoes. I find this consumer policy completely unacceptable - what recourse do I have?

If you actually take the time to return a cheap clearance item you probably shouldn't be shopping there in the first place.  Take your cheap poor ass to Walmart where you belong.  And learn how to read your receipt

Before you decide to call someone names, you should learn english. Your title should read "You're stupid", meaning "you are", instead of "your", meaning it belongs to you. You may shop at Dillards - which is far from a high end store, but you have a WalMart education.

I am sorry, there is no recourse for you, Dillard's return policy has been the same for many years, likewise  it is a corporate policy, Dillard's posts the return policy on their website, on your receipt, and in the store, They take this measure to try to avoid people who get angry when they don't understand the policy restrictions, So I am sorry, no recourse.

But think of this as a learning scenario, You might hate the shoes but you've got a good lesson in policy procedures.

I think because it is such an unusual return policy it is shocking when you discover it is 3 days. I don't k ow of any other store with a return policy like that. I just bought 2 items 65 off and nobody told me. Believe me they weren't "cheap" just because they were discounted. Total 90$.

What's worse, is that their 3 day policy is really a 2 day policy. I hadn't seen anyone mention that yet.  I bought a dress on Mar 16 , and returned it on Mar 19, after my daughter found a different one she preferred.  This was 3 days later by everyone's standards, but they refused.  The computer had it already out of their system by that 3rd day. Every Dillards' salesperson and manager I spoke with were all in agreement and were very trained to say that the first day was the day I bought it.  But this was after I was trying to return it, and with no sympathy expressed.  No one bothered to point that out when I bought it.  The salesperson was super friendly and chatty otherwise.  I was so surprised, and frankly inconvenienced,  by the 3 day return policy to begin with.  But being told (when it was too late) that their 3 day policy was really a 2 day, was frustrating .  Just say 2 day on the receipt next time .  Or post a return-by date at the bottom of receipt so everyone is fairly warned.

Dillards is very rigid and the sales associates hands are tied they are just following policy. What happen to you is terrible and shows very little customer service on the stores end .NO CUSTOMER SERVICE !!!!! Shop at Macys they are about customer service and so is Nortroms and Bloomies, which is part of Macys. That is the reason there are very few Dillards left compared to Macys. Show your dissatisfaction by not giving them your business!!!!!

I had the same experience. Customer service is trash and they are so rude about it! I have worked as a shoe associate at Macys and a shoe that doesn't work well for you is returned and damaged but you get an in-store credit for some other shoe. Dillards do not need my money for anything at all. They can eat their shoes all day.

I would also like to comment on the poor customer service I have received from Dillard's in Newnan, Ga. I have a policy: three strikes and you are out. If a clerk is rude I assume he/she is having a bad day and I ignore it. Besides, I used to work in retail and I understand the pressure. If I continue to get bad customer service, I contact management. If I am not satisfied after that, I stop shopping there. I have had three or four clerks refuse to give me refunds for items purchased a day earlier. These items were full price and not on sale either. Bottom line...Dillard's treats employees badly and it is projected to customers. I remember that working in retail meant working on commission. I hated it when customers returned items that were purchased from me because it came from my commission. But, I was never rude to anyone at all. If Dillard's loses enough customers, perhaps things will change. I have stopped shopping there.

I hope Dillards doesn't go out of business! I shop their on-line store all the time and find different brands and styles that Macys and Nordstroms don't carry. Never had a problem returning on-line purchases. Found a beautiful pair of dressy red sandals at 65% off with it clearly stated that they were non-returnable. Took a chance, after-all they were only $35.00 and they are gorgeous. Macys and Nordstroms had nothing like them.

    You're rude
I brought shoes on sale thinking I had three days to return them, however upon returning to Dillard's the very next day a store employee approached me immediately and said I couldn't even exchange the shoes for another pair as they have a no refund or return policy.  I showed her my receipt which clearly said I had three days to return my merchandise.  Her reply was, that should have been marked through with ink and marked no return!

    policy sucks
Wow, I guess I am guilty of shopping and not reading the signs, guilty, but customer service is a thing of the past! This policy sucks when the closest Dillard's is in another city, and when you shop you just pick up what you like because you don't know when you'll return and I dare not go into the dressing room because the associates are very rude.  I don't care if it's just a penny lost due to incorrect size  or just didn't likr, this is a bad policy! For me it's just as easy to shop online at other stores, and deal with the Hassel of returns then drive all the way to Dillards and get disappointed

You know what, the next time I purchase something from Dillard's and the sales clerk doesn't advise me of the return policy BEFORE I purchase, I'm returning it immediately. On the receipt?  Really?  They know you're not going to read it until after you've decided to return it.  Then, they're disclaimer is, "it's on the receipt"?

    Dillard's sucks
I purchased one sale Idem and one non sale idem. Since the sale idem stated 3 day return policy the incompetent sales lady did not want to take back the four day old non worn defected non sale Calvin Klein $59.00 shirt. It just so happens all the managers were in a meeting. I will be returning this idem at my local Dillard's. In my opinions Dillard's will be the next to go bankrupt.
