Dillards refuse to take returns after 13 days

I bought a pair of shoes from Dillards 13 days ago. When I went to return it today I was told that they have a 3 day return policy and I could not return the shoes. I find this unacceptable as no one told me that when I purchased the shoes. I find this consumer policy completely unacceptable - what recourse do I have?

Purchased a dress today at Dillard's because could not find what I wanted anywhere else.  Usually shop at Macy's, much better store for customer service
I really hate Dillard's return policy, don't understand the thinking behind it.

Macy's has a sort of unlimited return policy.  Never had a problem!

Well, as a former employee of Dillard's never knew about the three day return policy.  And unfortunately I have a dress I can't return.  Their prices may usually be high but management and store policies are poor. No point in insulting Walmart or employees or degrading either. People are people and idiots are idiots. One day you will find yourself in a situation for something you misunderstood.

I went to get a $340 dress to dillards bought it then I liked a different one, so I was unsure which one was better since I need it for my daughter 15 year party, the cashier told me I could return it within 90 day so I bought both of them planning to return one of them, bought in march i when to return it yesterday and the lady wouldn't give me the credit because she said I have return to many things in the past, which i never have, not only that but she was very mean.

Your return policy needs to expand to at least 30 days. For some of us we live far from a Dillard’s  store.

Dillards store is an idiot. I bought flat shoes online after I injured my foot. The shoes were too small so after about a week (when I could hobble to the store) i took the shoes back. Dillards refused to give me cash. They wanted to give me a gift card or put the refund on the debit card I had bought the shoes with. My debit card was compromised by a skimmer at a gas station. Can you believe Dillards put the refund on my husband's CC. Wow! What idiocy.  Thank God this brick and mortar store will soon go out of business when smart people (which I am now one) realize that Amazon is selling the same clothes sold at Dillards and made in China for 1/6th the price.

I agree that Dillard's return policy is unreasonable.  They want to give you a gift card so you will be sure to spend your money there when you want return to be put back on your charge card.  Will never buy anything at Dillard's!!

I'm new to the area and decided to buy something from Dillards.  I was unfamiliar with their return policy and was relying on the fact they had a similar return policy like some of the stores I would typically shop at in the state I came from.  I was surprised at the 30 day return policy when trying to return an item past the 30 days but within 90 days (still had tags on it and was in great shape).  Surprisingly, if I would have bought it on a Dillards charge card I could have returned the item because it was within 90 days.  Now that I am aware, I will not be shopping at this store and will be taking my business to their competitors.

Bought a Tahari jacket and slacks on the same day, with a credit card.  It was going to cost $75. To hem items properly.  Returned to store 5 days later to return. Had my receipt, only the proof of purchase tag for the slacks not the jacket. Dillard’s would not credit me for the jacket, only slacks. They lost a customer after 40 years. Sad customer service.
