Didn't order Playboy but receive invoices

I never ordered PlayBoy but recently received a threatening letter from Charles Martin. He threatened to send my account to collectors if I don't pay $14.68.  If this is an identity theft why did I receive the bill to my address. I assume this "Charles Martin" sends invoices using addresses from their subscribers database.

If anyone else has received similar letter, what did you do? I am not sure how to deal with this scam and I definitely don't want to be sent to collectors over $14.68....

I had the same problem, but the supposed subscription was in my 5-year old son's name.  I called the number and they supposedly cleared it, but the guy is a real jerk.  He told me they received a card that was filled out.  I think we should be able to take class action lawsuit against these people.  I've never had any other magazine subscription do this, and I am furious.  They should not be able to do business this way!  Anyways, I hope it does clear because if I keep getting invoices for these magazines I'm going to take it to the next step.  They shouldn't be able to operate this way!

Have had the same experience...bogus billings followed by threatening letter from a Sunrise Credit Services, Inc. in Farmingdale, NY and a Mr. Charles (must have dropped the Martin last name).  I called the Attorney Generals Office in North Carolina, Consumer Protection Agency and was advised to file a complaint against Playboy and Sunrise Credit.  Thanks for the Playboy customer service number....will call...and may still file complaint with the Atty. Generals Office.

I just wrote the U.S. Postal Inspector via an online complaint form.  Same thing happened to me.  I actually sent a check (because I used to have an actual subscription to Playboy) and it was cashed.  Same guy "Mr. Charles Martin".  Threatening, non-stop "invoices" for product I didn't receive.

Thanks for the phone number, I called and I hope it helped.  I payed for my subscription last March and then started receiving notes from Charles Martin.  I am a long-time subscriber who just cancelled his subscription.  I intend to follow-up with the Postal authorities.

That 800 # actually does work, they cancelled right away...I must say though, they're good over there at Playboy.  I spoke with "mandy" to cancel my alleged subscription and she sounded so sexy I almost ordered the magazine!  LOL  Nice try Hugh...

Mr Charles is at it again in MA.  Now using Good Housekeeping v. Playboy.
Have reported to state AG, PO and Good Housekeeping.

Been getting invoices from Playboy/Charles Martin for 6 months for a non-existent subscription.  Latest one threatened collection, but of course no phone # listed on the invoice to deal with it.  Quick search on google, came across this thread, called the 800# (800-999-4438) and less than 30 seconds later "Kelsey" had it cancelled.  Thanks everyone.

I fell for it, i filled out a postcard for playboy with my address, checked the "bill later box". Never received my first issue but got the Sunrise credit Services inc. notice of "this is an attempt to collect a debt" for $29.97 for what just so happened to be what playboys cust/ svc rep. quoted me a one year subscription would be. My last copy from my last paid three year subcription had been mailed four months earlier. He said sunrise could not damage my credit if i gave him my c/car right then, so i did. Then did a little shoppin online & found they played me for a chump & i coulda got it for less than half what they charged by ordering elsewhere! really %#&^%* sneaky they are for the trick! i guess their stock is down, so i read lately, so they are getting very creative with their tactics. Guess i know the term "[***]" still exists with dat mag.

I got the same thing and I called the number on the back of the form.  I actually got a person who probably thought that they were going to get some money and I CHEWED him a new @ss for being a phony collection agency who would even attempt to have an option to collect money via western union.  (Big red flashers when you see that).  So immediately he said "maam, are you disputing this charge?" and I said "EFF YES I AM BECAUSE YOUR COMPANY IS COMPLETELY BOGUS JUST LIKE THIS BILL YOU'RE ATTEMPTING TO COLLECT" and he then said "Okay we'll take your name out of our system".  Now, what kind of collector would just take your name off no questions asked.....?  All I can say is FINE BY ME D-BAG, Kharma is a b-tch and scamming people for money will come back to bite you some day!
Finished....sorry for my ranting...I just cannot believe that they can pull this stuff and get away with it....

I suggest anyone who gets a piece of mail from Sunrise Credit Services, take the time to call and speak with one of their very understanding representatives....and then give them a piece of your mind!!!!
