Recieved a call from a man named John Nelson, with very thick accent. He put his Supervisor, Anthony Johnson, on the phone, upon my repeated request,  demanding $956 to be paid immediately to a business called Cash Advance America for an alleged loan he claimed my wife failed to pay over a year ago. Never had a loan from them, never heard of them. He said if she didn't pay today that another company called American Law Division had a "senior" attorney ready to file suit against her tomorrow in "Oklahoma Court" for over $4000 after attorney's fee's. He had the last four digits of her social security number. He never could furnish our address. He claimed her employer was also being "investigated." He also called my wife at her work place earlier in the day. He told her she had failed to take care of her business and that she would "end up behind the bars."  She continued to ask for a Supervisor and was told by Anthony that he was the Supervisor. She asked for his Supervisor because, while he claimed to be American and had an American name, his accent was so thick she could not understand a word he was saying. He then started talking really quickly and shouting. She just kept shouting back for him to put someone who could speak English on the line and he hung up.  He also told her his company had sent 18 emails that had gone ignored. ROFL! Of course, those types of emails always get deleted!  Not a letter or correspondence one.  Just the emails... which, upon sifting through my past email logs were not found.  My wife was very upset and I told her it was a scam and I'd be able to find something on the internet to prove it. Of course, I have found that proof here. You'll also note, they never put a phone number on their web sites.  I'll have to see if they keep calling before I try to take any legal action, which I doubt would do any good since they are foreigners. I suppose I'll play along and make them mad everytime they call... who know's it might be fun!

Wow! This is rediculous! Lol I'm going though this same thing! I just received a call from a man by the name of James King who claimed to be from the State Investigation department & was the attorney for Cash Advance of America. He claimed that in january I took out a loan with this company and I owed the company a sum of $5000 and is now being sued!  I've never taken out a payday loan before in my life! After reading these complaints from so many others going through the same thing I'm now MORE THAN SURE this is a scam. It's a shame that we are all going through the same craziness. Someone really needs to deal with these guys and put an end to this!

I've been getting calls from them for the past few days.  I actually get calls for a stretch of about a week every couple of months.  I decided to talk to them today.  The person who called me, his name is Shawn Marshall (yeah right with that accent!).  He left messages saying I better return the call if I know what's good for me and all the other BS.  So, today I decided to talk to him LOL!!! I asked where he was from and he said Oakville Law Group.  I asked what company I supposedly owe money to. He said Advance Cash America.  I told him I've never heard of that company and he said they are an online company that is a parent company over many different payday loan companies.  I told him I have NEVER taken out a payday loan.  He verified my e-mail address and I told him anyone can get that information.  I told him if I did take out this loan, I would have had to sign loan documents with the original company agreeing to the terms, etc.  I told him I want the ORIGINAL company to give me my ORIGINAL documents with MY signature on them. He said it was done online.  I told him even so there should be loan documents.  I asked him the original company and he said Advance Cash America. I said no, you just told me that's the parent company. I want the original company so I can contact them b/c I have never done a payday loan.  I also said I wanted a statement from them saying what I supposedly owe.  Well, he said he would consult with his "senior attorney" and get back to me and hung up. LOL...Don't think I will be hearing from them again. They called from 484-361-4801. If you talk to them, just confront them with that info...asking to see your loan documents, etc.  They will hang up real quick.

If you are sure they have your banking info, close your bank acct and open a new one.  Whenever they say they can verify your SS number, it's always just the last 4 digits so they don't have your whole SS number. The only thing they may have is your banking info so either call your bank and put an alert on your acct for unauthorized electronic debits or close your acct and open a new one.

They called my office and got me on the phone.  I told them I wasn't here and they said that they were my brother and my mother was sick.  I asked how come Pete's brother had an Indian accent.  They said He needs to call us back his mother is sick.  My mother has been deaed for 5 years.  Now I call them hourly and tell them I am eating sacred cow.

Becky, I actually borrowed funds from several difference cash advance sources but I contact them directly to pay them back. These people received your information by hacking into the initial site for your information.  The only way they will stop calling is if you get angry back.  They are frauds and will never sue because they have no legal standing.  The next time he calls tell him, "if you work for a lawyer then you know it is illegal to contact me at work." Let them know you are reporting them to the attorney general's office and you have filed a complaint against them.  They'll leave you alone afterward.

An individual at this number called me late on a Friday evening claiming to inform me that to have my attorney call him back because I have criminal charges for fraud for receiving funds from "Cash Advance America" a company I had never worked with nor heard of until the call. The call was disconnected so he called back and I let it go to voice mail. He left me a voice mail telling me it was important to call him back. He called again and I answered which he then told me to be quiet while he read the affidavit. He said he would send a report of the charges to the company I work for and I would also get arrested. He then said that I could speak to his supervisor to see if I could settle it as "Out of Court" restitution. He transferred me to someone who was really rude and would not give me any information as far as the situation. He told me I owed the company over $1100 could settle it for over $800 of which could be sent to them via prepaid visa or master card and or western union person to person or wire transfer and I had to send an apology letter to their company within 15 minutes. I told him I didn't have any money and he said that I was lying because I had gotten paid that day and asked me if I thought he was stupid. He proceeded to be really rude and then when I refused to give him my information he told me to wait 30 minutes and the local authorities would be there to arrest me. This is a somewhat thought out scam that starts with a fear tactic. These people need to be found and arrested.

Here's another number they are using, that comes up as Richmond, VA: (804) 277-9078. I've received three calls thus far from three different numbers. It's most likely Skype/VOIP.

I received a phone call from a man who claimed to be collecting an unpaid cash advance loan from Cash Advance America. He said that I owed 386.00 and that if I did not pay he was going to have me arrested. When I tried to explain to him that it was not me, he became demanding and rude, he claimed he was an attorney for the Kings County Court House in New York. He goes by the name Dwight Johnson. I actually believed him the first night he called, that I could be arrested for something that I did not do. But thankfully I came across these postings and now I know that I am not the only one. I reported the incident to the FTC but I am sure they wont do anything. Thanks.

my wife is getting same calls from rude foreign people. just filed a complaint with our police dept. Now they are calling her work, which is a hospital (total morons). now hospital filled police report with their city. Their actually kind of fun to [***] with as i found out today by pretending to be her attorney. Don't believe em, don't give em any money, and be as rude and out of line as you can be with em. However you may have to change your bank account for piece of mind. Total scam, hopefully these people can be found and delt with correctly.
