I just received one of those phone calls from a middle eastern accent man/woman claiming to be from the U.S. Government Health Department. They CLAIMED I was selected out of thousands for a grant in the amont of 7500 including the (secrect deposit) for the transfer fee which was 290. She then told me a confirmation of AL235. I was given 3 options one direct deposit, two money gram, or three western union. They wasn't about to get my bank info so I choose western union. I was then told that when I get outside of the currency exchange parking lot to call the (202)640-5471 number to receive further steps. Once I called but not even outside of the parking, a lady by the name of Baniel Johnson told me to hold so that she can connect me to the (higher) "manager". "Patrick Robert" (higher manager) asked me did I have the paper (money gram) and pen, then asking what color was it. At that point my dad had enough of the scam and took the phone, telling them not to call anymore. After that Baniel called back and asked "did we say it was a scam". LOL the whole thing is a mess and someone should really look into stopping these fakes from harrassing and prying on people who's struggling for money.

I am caling the BBB, with the names and phone number first thing in the morning, it's after 4, and they are closed for the day. Something needs to be done. Luckily I knew it was to good to be true, but so many people out here are so desperate for money because times are very hard for everyone. I don't understand how this same scam has been going on for more than 4 years and no one is doing a damn thing about it. I wonder how many people actually got ripped off by these creeps. Yet, you'll find a man starviing from hunger stealing a hamburg, and arrest him immediately. Where are our priorities???

I received one of those calls too. It was a man with a heavy Indian accent. He said i was approved for a us government grant because I paid my bills on time and I didn't have any bankruptcy or collection bills. He new my name and phone number. He said i was going to get 7500 dollars and he wanted my bank account information. I new then that it was a scam but I played with him to see how far he was going to go with that story. So he asked me how do you want your money and I told him you can send me a check and he said oh no the us government doesn't work that way and he hung up on me

I recieved a phone today saying that i was the most lucky lady because i was chosen to recieve a grant for $4,536.00 that i didn't have to pay back and that i needed to send $205.00 thru the western union so my paper work can get processed and they make me a file. First of all, the guy name was Karin Parker (which is a girl name) this is soooo foolish. Well he forces me to believe that i was picked for this grant when i was looking for a house on line. which is funny i was never looking for a  house on line. He then tried to make me believeve that i needed the money because i was poor and that the money will help me. I went off in such the most polite way i could and told him he needs to stop scamming people and he knows damn well hes waiting my time. the number he gave was 818-473-5677 said he was from the Government Grant Department. All Lies. Be careful and don't get caught up.

I just got the same call today saying I was aporoved for a grant for a 7000 dollar government grant because I have no criminal record, I didnt file for bankruptcy.  She knew my name, number but didn't ask for my account but wanted me to send 290.00 dollars to some for a charity.  So if this is free money why would I have to send money to a charity in order to get the 7000. I knew it was a scam... I dont understand how they can get away with these scams

I receive a phone call the last two days stating that I have been chosen out of 1500 people 4 grant money. this lady name hazel Walker said I was chosen because I have no criminal background which is a lie I do I haven't filed for bankruptcy in 6 months. so she goes on to tell me. that I would have to go 2 a Western Union and deposit $250 for down payment to verify my signature. so when I get outside the Western Union to call them and stay on the phone until I send the money. calling them back not really at the Western Union asking for further instructions. hey man by the name of richard Dawson said to get a moneygram form and go into a corner and fill it's out. I'm saying to myself go into a corner and fill it out. I go on to ask questions hazel Walker said oh my god in hang up the phone. I call back richard Dawson answers and he eventually hang up the phone. this is very messed up what is the world coming to. government doesn't have to do anything all they need is a little street justice

OMG! I've been getting these same phone calls for the past 2 weeks. They keep calling back asking me why I am not agreeing to take the grant money. It's from a #202 area code cell phone. I asked for verification and the web site they gave me (www.govtgrantdept.com)lead me right to this scam page of all the same reports.  Anyone with any common sense knows the govmnt websites are all .....gov.org not govt.com. They offered the same grant...$8400 because I had no criminal record and hadn't filed for bankruptcy. And yes, it was a man with an American name and heavy eastern accent. I wish they would stop calling me!

Yeah I got a call from a Hispanic lady who's English was horribly broken 1st Red flag said she worked for the U.S Gov grants program offering me 5000 dollars said it was a once in a life time thing for not having any late payments. She didn't ask for any money just wanted my account info. I said lady ; the government isn't giving any money away their taking it and she hung up the phone. It was a washington# 202 210 0054 People beware in America nothing is free but jail time. People who get scamed usually want something for nothing, its called American greed.be content with what you have remember if it sounds to good to be true it usually is! And besides you and I are not that lucky and if you're feeling lucky play the power ball. ..

I have been receiving the same sort of calls, from the number (202) 666-8041. East Indian accented man says I've been randomly selected by the US gov to receive a grant of $8400. He called just now. I asked him to hold, jumped online and found this page. I told him I'd be reporting him. Now to find out where to report to.

I just got off the phone with someone who told me I had been selected for a us government grant in the amount of 7500 dollars. They had my name and address and phone number and birthday. They gave me the choice of direct deposit or western union or putting it onto a prepaid debit card already in my possession. I told him western union he gave me a confirmation number and told me to call 202-657-6938 so they could release my money. I immediately goggles the us grant that was giving people "free" money each year. This Indian guy was a real smooth talker and is very well practiced. You would figure if the government were giving out that kind of money that they would want the good publicity from it and it would be plastered everywhere on the grant websites. Research everything before you hand out any personal information.

I just received a call from them as well but on my phone caller ID it showed as BLOCKED. I thought it was an ex or somebody playing on my phone. So I answered and it was a middle eastern lady on the line saying that I won 9k. It sounded suspect. So she continued to ramble on and on about how they can send the money electronically and all they need is my checking info and how she was working with the government and saying how they are in Washington, DC, I guess to make things seem okay. I said "before I give out anything for the safety of my information I want a number to your department". She said, "After I get your account information I will give you a reference number and a call back number." I said "No..I want a call back number now or I'm not giving you anything." She said "I'm sorry I'm not authorized to give that number." That's when I caught her in her bluff, so I said "Sooo, you're not authorized to give me a number now but after you get my information you're going to give me a number..That doesn't sound right" I'm guessing she placed me on hold because it when silent then she came back on the phone with an attitude and gave me the number. Then I hung up on her. She called back but I didn't answer. But she gave me a number that I did call back and it just kept ringing. The number was 202-738-4511.

    upset mother of three
I struggle everyday to provide for my family, so when I got this call for the umpteenth time, I listened to this Middle East man tell me I qualified for $8400. He new my address, my phone number, but only new me by my nickname. Now if it was the US gov. and I didnt have to pay back because I was selected out of millions by me paying my taxes and not having committed a crime wouldn't they know my full name! After his script was read he gave me the 202# told me to ask for Marshall Bruce, this guy was foreign too! He put me on hold for 10 mins and didn't come back on, I hung up. I called back n he answered with a hey, then asked me for my grant ID# ML621, told him he read his script n asked me for $214, I said there it is the scam, he told me no ma'am this isn't a scam. I told him get a job like everyone else buddy! He said this is my job! I told him if u worked with the gov. you wouldn't be using a cell#. Thank god I used a expired walmart card.
