This was my note to Maytag Customer online site:
Hello, We love your product, but now disappointed with the dependability of the product.  I just got off the phone with the supervisor (Rachael from Tennessee)  they say they can not assist any further.

I purchased a Maytag front loader washer, Oct/Nov 2009 and the machine worked great for 8 months then started to squeak.  In January of 2011 the machine really had problems and we had to call sevice to find the bearing was bad.  We proceeded to call service companies and found the replacement bearing cost was as much as a new machine.  I was advised to call Maytag and they did send the new part Feb 24th 2011. I paid the $129 service call. A week later we started to hear a small squeaking.  We dismissed the sound to a new part break in period. (PS we understand not to over load machine, and we take our comforters and large blankets to the laundramat to save any abuse to our machine). So I was concerned that the sound started to get a little louder, so I called the SeviceRepair (A&E) in April to inform them. They said its a new bearing and to let them know if it gets to be a problem. Well part is still working but louder. Called A&E again and it was confirmed to be the bearing. They advised to call Maytag to see if any recalls? Called Maytag, No recalls and after talking to 3 different departments they said they can no longer assist us.   Very disappointing. 2 year old machine on it's 2nd bearing no customer satisfaction.
What can be done to assist with my appliance?

Had the same bearing problem with my front loading washer (MHWE450WW00) purchased 04/2010 from Best Buy. Paid $1100. The washer gets so loud during the spin cycle it sounds like a jet is landing in my laundry room. Called Maytag they suggested a repair service. Was told by the repair person that it will cost $1048 to replace the bearing assembly and because it was MOLDED into the inner basket, that would have to be replaced along with the tub. Called to see what Maytag would do about it. They will do nothing - too bad, the one year warranty is over. Seems like this should be RECALLED or something. Obviously a problem with the bearings. I am extremely disappointed. I asked Maytag to help me - at least pay for the parts - nope - can't do that. I always heard that Maytag was one of the best - I saved up to purchase this washer (and the dryer - which I am scared will stop working too). Can't anything be done?????

Why do write like a robot?  Obviously, he has a problem so just tell him to contact you and that you can take care of it.  As if he doesn't have a concern regarding your product.

I am with Tony.  There is an article in the July edition of the Michigan Farmer which talks at great length about this very problem.  The person talks about how they were on their third outer tub with seals and bearings, which cost $178.37 for just the part.  I purchased a Front Loader Epic Z and am having the same problem.  I didn't pay that much money to have it go bad in such a short time.  Maybe if a lawsuit were started Maytag might start going back to building products that really were "Dependable."

Had the same problem! My wife and I bit the bullet and spent 2500 on the washer, dryer, pedestools, and top mat about 2.5 years ago because we were having our third daughter and needed a bigger laundry unit. Just paid a maytag repair man $81.00 three days ago to tell me that the barrings were shot and that it would cost us 1226.00 to repair, freaking sick to my stomach!

I would be interested.  Same problem.  I am shocked on how many people have had problems with this model.   They all seem to be the same.

Troy, so I had the same problem with the main bearing on my Maytag 3000 series front-loading washing machine. I called an AUTHORIZED Maytag repair shop and they told me to call Whirlpool (Maytag's parent company) because Whirlpool and Maytag have been having a LOT of problems with main bearing issues in their washing machines. Not only that, but there are a countless number of complaints out there about bearings going out in their washers as well. The repair shop told me to call Whirlpool and that they would probably cover it under warranty because of all of the issues they've been having with the bearings, even though the washer was out of warranty. Well, no such luck. Whirlpool even went so far as to say that there haven't been any complaints about bearing issues, which is clearly untrue. My $1000 washing machine didn't last 2 years, and now it is looking like I will have to buy a new washer…which will definitely not be a Maytag or any other machine under the Whirlpool umbrella. Is there something that can be done? If you file a lawsuit, count me in.

I have the exact same issue and whirlpool will do nothing about it.
I bought a 4000 series washer and dryer from the local Home Depot and right from the start I noticed that the washer was a bit loud on the spin cycle. Did not think much of it as I figured they say commercial technology so they may be a little louder than should be. It started to get progressively worse and now it is quite unbearable. But guess what, I am 2 months out of warranty and there is nothing that Whirlpool will do for you..oh well there is something..they want to send a tech out to look at it so they can hose you some more. I told the rep on the phone that I already know what the issue is..everyone who bought this unit is on the net and has the exact same issue with the bearings being gone,..the part is garbage and we all know it, and they know it too, but they just play dumb. I told them to forget the tech. After everything I have read here, I decided to put this piece of garbage in the trash and NEVER…EVER BUY A WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AGAIN AS LONG AS I LIVE. Funny, my parents were just on the market for a washer and dryer, and guess what..I MADE SURE IT WAS NOT A GARBAGE WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT. These people think they got one up on us,..well you don’t. If anyone is initiating a class action lawsuit, please let me know..I AM IN ALL THE WAY!
