Same thing with our Maytag front loader. We purchased it at Home Depot in July 2010 by the end of the manufacturer warranty we had the bearings replaced TWICE and the drum ONCE. Now with the extended warranty and a year and a half after the purchase, the bearings went again. Two repairmen (since every time they need to break the machine apart in my garage) came and changed the bearings again. Two days later the machine would not start.Called for repair again. A guy came and "fixed it". I start a washing cycle and the rattling noise starts again. Called the repair service and they gave me attitude saying that "All you guys are trying to do is get a new machine". Acting like WE are the ones doing this to the washer. We had to call the extended warranty people to make another appointment for repair. In the meantime I try to start another washing cycle and the machine won't start again (the lights are on, but same problem as last time). We are going through hell calling/going to Home Depot with the complaint, calling the manufacturer, calling the extended warranty people and everybody acts like WE ARE THE GUILTY PARTY. WE PAID ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A HEAVY DUTY PRODUCT THAT WAS GUARANTEED TO WORK FOR A REASONABLE PERIOD OF TIME. FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS THIS HAS NOT HAPPENED. My mother leaves in Europe and she uses a front loader. Since the time I was 10 years old (and I am 53) she has had 2 front loaders, so she gets an average of 20 years per machine. The drum is 1/3 the size of my drum, and she loads it all the way to the top. SO don't tell me that a bigger drum and a washer supposed to be heavy duty can only take a pair of underwear!!!

Same issues only I have been dealing with Lowes.  I had the 3000 series that was replaced after about 2 years.  Opened it up and rest everywhere.  Repairman said it had to have come from the factory damaged.  Lowes replaced it only after we persisted and referenced what the repairman said.  Got the 4000 series (why I don't know) in June 2010.  Started making a loud humming noise.  So loud you couldn't hear the tv.  We called Lowes extended warranty who sent a repairman (not what I would call him) to our home.  He says the outer drum and some other parts (not sure which since my husband talked to him) and it was a MAJOR job.  So he put in his estimate of the repairs and of course Lowes would want it repaired vs replaced.  So the repairman shows up Friday.  Is here for 4 hours.  Has the machine all apart in my bathroom sink, counter and floor.  Couldn't use our bathroom for 4 hours.  Didn't have the right tools and had to borrow ours.  He leaves and we look at the machine and the drum doesn't look like it is sitting right.  Well sure enough we put a load in and it starts making a loud knocking sound.  Called Lowes and the Lowes extended warranty people and let them hear it for themselves.  As I am on the phone with them we discover that it is now leaking in my finished basement.  When I told the service company that I was told "we don't cover anything outside of the machine".  So now I have damage to my home because of this guy and Noone seems to want to pay for it.  They wanted to send the same guy to my house to look at the machine the next day.  I said no way and I want a new machine.  I'm afraid now if someone else comes in I could have even more damage and no one wants to cover.  Put in a claim and it was denied.  Insisted we had to have service out again.  We had no choice but to let them in.  He said he would not have repaired the machine in the first place since it was such a major job and so labor intensive.  He fixed what the other guy messed up.  So I am just waiting for it to crap the bed again.  From what I have seen from everyone else it will happen shortly.  So I should have learned after the first time and gotten a different machine.  I do know now I will Not be buying another Maytag and will NOT purchase any new appliances from Lowes.  I am getting an estimate for the damages and will be contacting BBB and the attorney general.  I will include a reference to all the complaints about the machine as well.  I too am sick of these companies and the lack of customers service.

I wish this site had been available when I purchased my Maytag washer and dryer front loader nothing but trouble from the very beginning and Maytag customer service was appalling! I thought I was buying the "Cadillac"  of washing machines but I know I got a lemon my relatives have whirlpools and LG and have never had problems yet my appliance repair man will be out again tomorrow, this time for a pump problem. We have learned to live with the bad bearings since about a month or two into our purchase!!!! Shame in you Maytag!!!!

I do not feel this machine (maytag front loader 3000) puts enough water in the machine to get clothes clean. 150 minutes for the whitest white may do the job but that is not saving energy like these new machines are suppose to do. The clothes are so twisted together that they r hard to get out of the washer and the clothes come out of the dryer all twisted together. My old top loader did not have these problems. I wish I had my old machine back. I could soak clothes in water overnight, I clould dye things. I do not over load either although this machine is suppose to do large loads. I never feel like my clothes are clean or rinsed well. Very dissappointed!!!!!!!!

Hello Jobe.  My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Maytag. We are sorry you are unhappy with the design of your washer.  Due to the changes in the Department of Energy Guidelines, any appliance that uses water must limit how much water will go into the unit.  We must stay in the guidelines to manufacture appliances.  Make sure you are not overloading the washer, are balling up the clothing slightly around the sides of the agitator, and you can see the agitator once the washer basket is filled.  It helps to mix pants and shirts to allow proper agitation, and to avoid tangling.  If you have other concerns we can address, please provide your name, the site you were contacted on (Complaintwire), your user ID name (Joby), your phone number, your address, the full model and serial number, and email the requested information to Maytag.Digital@maytag.com.  We would be happy to review your concerns further.
      Sincerely, Melanie.

My maytag 3000 washer started banging at about one year as it got louder i knew it had a problem, now it does'nt work at all. Class action law suit sounds like the right thing to do,but i think places like HOME DEPOT should be included in it.That's where i bought mine and was told by the salesman buy the best and it'll last a life time , well i'm not dead ,but it is. COUNT ME IN.
