Cancelation Nightmare

I recently moved and are now living far from the nearest LA Fitness center. I stopped by before I moved out to terminate my membership. They told me I need to send them a filled out form by mail. Ridiculous. I printed it our and sent it. A month later I saw I am still being charged. I called them. They said "they have no record of my cancellation". How convenient! I filled the form again and sent it as a certified mail to have the proof of me mailing and them receiving.

The charges continued. I closed my bank account, and now I am getting calls from LA Fitness asking me to update my banking account information. I said I canceled my membership but for some reason it's still open.

I joined LA fitness back in 2010. I cancelled my membership in spring of 2012. I am still getting billed every month since I cancelled. I called my credit card company and we even called their billing department. I have confirmation emails from LA fitness saying my membership was cancelled.  However, they keep billing me. My credit card company has even had them on block but now they are billing it as a "rebill" when they clearly don't pay attention to their records. The guy I spoke to at LA Fitness said that they couldn't refund me all the months that I had been charged but they could refund me 3 months.  I am getting fed up with constantly calling my credit card company to clarify this.  If anyone has any info to get this stopped i would appreciate it.  my email is redpandadoll@yahoo.com

Have you tried having your credit card reissued with a new number?

I want to cancel my personal trainer contract and was not told about the 50% that you have to pay but also I was told that I could cancel when I wanted to. Has anyone stopped the payments with their bank and not gone back? If so has there been any issues since?

I did a stop payment with my credit card company. It went through fine but now LA Fitness is calling me nonstop. Today, I went on the online account info and changed my information. Only thing I was unable to change was my name. I'm not sure if they can send it to collections. I never gave them my social.

I just close my bank account and stop their payment. The bank credit back to me $280 for the second month of PT La fitness took. They must be angry now. Im waiting to see what is next next month to fight again from there. Wonder how was your situation now?

I signed up for La Fitness with my dad because I liked the trainer that I had. I was promised 6 sessions a week by MANAGEMENT for $180 billed every 2 weeks. What they actually did was when I was about to train, they came up to us and had him sign a paper. Then they made their own contract for half the sessions I was promised and did a "Manual" Override on my dad's signature. So, the actual contract wasn't what he signed. When we found out what happened we wanted to cancel and they said you can either do a buy-out or get a medical note but you can't cancel for a year. That was also not mentioned to us when we were signing up, they specifically said we could cancel anytime! When we tried to at least get the sessions we were promised, the guy who signed us up didn't work there anymore! They go through training managers like nothing.. So of course, there was "nothing they could do". We finally got fed up and called our C.C. company and told them to do a stop payment on all LA Fitness Charges. It's fairly recent so I'm not sure what the outcome will be but NEVER AGAIN! LA Fitness is a scam waiting to happen!

I made the stupid mistake of joining LA Fitness in Abington, PA.  I signed up for 6 months of training sessions...I cannot get them to stop billing me!!!  It is long past 6 months.  I went and spoke to the man who signed me up in Feb. 2013 to inquire why I was still being billed 3 months past the contract.  He told me it was no problem to cancel and that when I want a session I can just schedule one...well, another 3 months of billing!  Of course there is "no record" of my telling him that I want no more training sessions.  I have called the corp. headquarters and told them the same thing...no record of that either!  So, I contacted my credit card company and told them to not pay any charges to LA Fitness.   For 2 days I was besieged by phone calls...from all different people from LA Fitness.  I have managed, for the time being, to block the phone numbers - about 6 of them from all parts of the country.
Isn't there any kind of law in PA to stop a piranha corp. such as LA Fitness?

Same. Was told it was month to month, I could skip a month. I TOLD THEM ON DAY ONE that I was only doing it for a month, even my trainer said I told her that, but the head trainer who signed me up is lying and saying I did not even tell him, he heard it from my trainer (bullcrap) and it was not within the 1st 10 days.

He's right. It was on DAY ONE!!!!! fer.

I called customer service and was blown off and hung up on. The last call I did I just said "I guess I am going to have to get a lawyer. Can you note my account?" and hung up.

NOT GONNA let this hit my credit....... it is NOT FAIR.... i was LIED TO repeatedly....treated like crap...hung up on....talked to like dog crap.....promised things that were NOT EVEN TRUE.....i'm done.....

Show me the lawyer... i sent an email to eheredia5@toromail.edu

Just to let u know, even if you cancel your debit card, these pigs will call card services and get your new debit card and charge your fees on that one. Only way to successfully end their thievery is to close your bank account.

Signed up for la fitness. Three days later I went in to cancel membership which they did , but they were going to keep my deposit of $120. Changed my mind but keeping my $120 seems outrageous.is this legal?

Is openning a new credit card and stop payment from La fitness personal contract scam work for anyone? I just did that and wait for the next month to see how it works, cuz i heard eventually they still can bill you on ur new card. Meanwhile, will they able to bring you to debt collection?  La fitness is such a nightmare in the fitness industry! Hope they will be shut down forever so there is no more future victims.
