Turned Over To a Collection Agency for 46.00

I am DirecTV customer. My account became past due for the amount of 46.51. That's only one month's service. They suspended my service. Then a few days later I receive a letter from a Collection Agency 'Collectech Systems' trying to collect for the amount of 46.51. Then yesterday, I receive a call from what is identified on my caller ID as DirecTV. Well it's not DTV, it's this pinhead from Collectech Systems. I called DTV and spoke to them and asked them why they placed this with a 3rd party collection agency for 46.51. Man, I could have been in the hospital or something. Anyway, they said that DTVs company policy is when an account has a pastdue balance of $15.00 or more then they turn it over to an outside collection agency and it gets reported to the credit bureaus as placed for collections. I told them to come and get their equipment of my property! Pretty expensive price to pay: Losing a customer for 46 bucks. No wonder why so many of my neighbors have "DISH Network" (who I already have a install date with)and not "DirecTV". So beware people before you decide to get hooked into a 3 year commitment with these snakes.

    Wow - I'm SO glad I read this.  I've had lots of techincal issues with my cable company for about the past year or so & was just telling my husband the other night that we should switch to Direct TV.  I'm glad I read this before I made the switch.  Guess I'll be looking into Dish Network.  Thanks!

      You made the right choice,all I wanted to do was add a room for 2 weeks and was told it would not up my contract,now I am stuck paying 20 bucks a month for 2 years. They are liars and thieves

    Yeah, we were in a declaired national disaster and couldn't afford to pay my bill that month from spending money on repairs for the house, so I called DTV and tried to explain to them what was going on and got nothing but attitude from the woman on the phone. She kept making a point that they were going to send it to collections and that's it. Do it their way or you end up owing them 3 times the amount you started with. My bill went from $72 to $202 in a month and  half. Now I get at Least 10 calls a day from CollecTech and they hang up. I hope this is all worth the *free* Sunday Ticket that my husband wanted. /sigh Just another bill to add to the pile that has been piling up since out ice storm.

    Hello Flyboy28, I also had my DirecTV account turned over to Collectech for $55.91.  I called DirectTV about being overcharged for the plan I signed up for, and asked them to correct their bait & switch sceme.  I was being charged an additional $10 per month and the plan was going to cost me almost $53 for months 13 through 18, even though I agreed to a 12 month commitment.  They refused to honor the agreement, so I refused to pay the bill.  I also had a problem with Dish Network.  Any time I had a problem, I had to argue for hours with someone in India to get the problem resolved.  When I finally called DishNetwork to discontinue service, they refused to process the cancellation. I spoke to 3 different people in attempt to discontinue service, but every person insisted I owed for the following month even though I paid a month in advance.  They have turned me over to a collection agency also.  I attempted to set up service with Comcast before I called the satellite TV providers.  I signed up for 2 seperate promotions with Comcast, neither of which they honored.  Now I'm viewing local channels on rabbit ears.   I hope you have better luck with Dish Network than I did.

    I am also a directtv cusomer. In Feb. 2007 i sent a payment of $64.26. they said that they never received my payment. i called them several times to see if they had gotten it. they said no, i kept argueing with them over the phone. they kept sending me bills for the past due amount which i had sent. they finally shut off my service.then i got a bill from the collection agency. so i sent 143.60 which they said i owed. i paid it june 27,2008.
    i called them today which is july 9,2008. they said that they only received
    $18.00 of my payment. now i wondered where the rest of the 143.60 went. we still havent got no service.

    On behalf of DirecTv, I am hereby authorized to send each and every account that has outstanding balances to CBE for collections. This is my job. Pay your bills on time and in full, and we would not have to do this. Being poor/broke is not an excuss, you ordered the service, you pay the bill.

      Oh your are a real [***]. Most business's would have a grace period. Nothing pisses me off more than listening to some Currie Rice and Chicken eater on the other end of the phone line for support. Your service sucks

        Amen brother this is the worse service I have ever had, they lied to get me to switch from Comcast where I was getting better/more channels, phone and internet for way less than what Directv charges.  I am stuck for 2 years paying for a service I hate.  I should have done my homework.

      Scott thank you for your comment and I agree, but I need to vent to you since the person on the phone, whom i just spoke with, will not listen.

      I had recently moved, CBE and I set up a direct debit from my checking account but this month it did not come out.  Just so happen another call came into my phone from another collection agency, which I called back cause I do not answer my phone at work, I would hold for up to 15 miniutes or just get cut off.  Finally got to talk to "someone" who tells me they have taken your account over from CBE and I needed to set my payments up with them.  That would be fine but I have had no notification from anyone that my account had been "transferred."  The rep said they had mailed me a letter, which I have not received, so I told him would not set up.  He said he would transfer me to a Direct TV payment to make one installment, which I agreed because I intend to pay,  but when I get that connection it does not give me any message of who they are, just automated give me your credit or debit card #, No Way, WOULD YOU!!  Until I get proper notification I will not give someone this info over the phone.  CBE stopped the draft NOT ME!!!

      One last item, I originally set this direct payment up with a DirectTV rep then it is turned over to CBE, why should I deal with them when I owe and agree to pay direct to you?

      go sit on a D***..... because you guys use illegal practices. stating that 8 payments are returned when i faxed in my bank statement showing all were paid, then you still leave my services off.

      that's call theft. and since you can prove your side of the story, good luck....

          How aboit if you paid your bill and the payments magically never reached DirecTv. This was happening on a regular basis for years, especially around the holidays! When I would call "customer service" oh....there was nothing they could do. Really?

          Then, when I finally cancelled this terrible ripoff service, I was told I would be receiving a refund. 3 months later, I get an email saying I owe money. How do you go from refund to owing money. When I contacted your gutless CEOs office (of course a lackey spoke for him as he was too chicken to actually talk with a customer), I was told too bad and they, not only refused to allow me to contest the "bill", they also refused to address other complaints. Oh, I could do it on the phone, but they refused to put anything in writing. And I can tell you why. When criminals know they are wrong, they will do nothing to incriminate themselves.

       Nice attitude you have there Scotty boy.....but classic DirecTv.  I make sure to make scenes at all DirecTv booths as well. Funny how many people walk away when they hear an actual, ex customers experience while the DirecTv rep stutters and scammers.

      Hi scott I do pay my bills on time.. I am trying to get ahold of someone who can actually help me with it bc I was overcharged. My bank disputed a charge and they keep on telling me I owe them for a month that I did even have the satellites for. Is there a direct line someone can help me please? The representatives on the phone keep sending me to a different department.

      DirectTV are the biggest crooks on the planet.  You know people lose jobs....Have health issues...DEATH of spouse, ETC!!!!. S$#% happens and most people NEVER intend to not pay their bills. Just wait til the pebble is in your shoe and can't pay your bills!!!!!!!!!!!

      Scott, I call [***].  I pay all of my bills on time.  In November I cancelled my service and returned my hardware.  I was issued a refund in the amount of $41.02.  Today APRIL 11th - 5 months later I received a collection notice from Diversified Consultants for $42.98.  a) why issue a credit if there's a balance due FIVE months later via a collection agency: b) why not send me an email or mailing, or phone call since you have my phone number instead of going trying to ruin my credit record?  We actually entertained returning to be a DTV customer.  Not now.   Stick it.

      I realize your company is not a bank but your text was unprofessional and callus . Was it necessary? No. Leave your anger problems outside the cubicle. Things happen in life and the contract is between two people one of them being the directv customer. I liked direct tv until I read your text and I no longer feel sorry for you and all other directv employees for the at &t merger. sounds like you two companies belong together.  I think it’s time you quit and get a job that you will enjoy and enjoy life.
