The woman I spoke to could barely speak English, so I asked to speak to her supervisor. He went through the same speak about how I had been chosen to receive a grant for $9000 and I didn't have to pay it back. The money was sitting in the federal reserve and it was mine free. They just needed either my bank account information or my credit card information. I asked him a lot of questions and used the time to look up the phone number they called me from. It was a cell phone in the Washington DC area - 202-210-0054. He then tried to have me give him my credit card number and when I said I was comfortable with that, he told me I was wasting his time. So I hung up on them. Why can't the government stop this!

Got a call from the U.S. Dept. of Federal Grants and told me they have $9000 for me, free of charge.  Gave me Grant ID #AM117, and told me to call his supervisor right away at #914-340-3236, and he would set up me to get cash at Walmart.  I didn't call but they have been calling me every day at least 4 times a day.  I hope this makes them stop calling!

I began getting these calls about three days ago.
Each time I cut them off and tell them I will not give any personal information which triggers a quick hang up.
It is nearly impossible to block them as they come from several numbers and any attempt to call back leads to a "This number can not be called from your area" message.
So far I am up to about 10 of these calls per day.

I got the same call...said I needed to register with the federal government before they could activate my confirmation code. It was going to cost $200 for me to do that but they assured me I would get not only the $9000, but the $200 back as well. Wanted me to go to down to Walmart and explain this to someone in the Western Union office there. So before I took the time to even go to Walmart I thought I would look this up online and sure enough! A scam just as I assumed

I got the same phone call at 9:00 this morning, I'm so glad I hung up when I did instead of continuing to verify my information, which she already had.

I have getting 5 to 10 calls a day from these people. I asked them to put me on the Don't Call List and I still kept getting calls from them.  When I told them I was recording them and would report it to the police they hung up on me.  One time I agreed to accept the money just to see what they wanted.  They wanted me to call a 202 area code number and give a code provided.  When I asked the guy who the President of the US was, He laughed and said, "Why are you asking me that?"  I said, " if you are calling from Washington, DC, you must know the President's name.  He said I was wasting his time and hung up on me.

Same call today from (307) 763-3692, but every time there's even a little suspicion I google the subject matter. It has saved me from five different scams.

Just got a call about the "$9000 grant" from 210.217.7794.  Guy had Spanish accent and could barely read the script.  Stated he would give me a phone number to call to verify validity if I listened to him explain and wanted to accept the offer.  While I was on the phone, I checked it out on my computer and told him he was working for a scam and that I was going to report him!

Just got the call today from a woman  , then she gave a number to call and code , I had 15mins to call that number and I did,  the lady was convincing so I did call the second number, right then I knew it was a scam, I couldn't understand what he was saying so he got mad, I repeated back what he wanted me to say at western union, I heard what he wanted me to say, but even though I repeated it different then what he said, he still said yes your right. So the convo continued and he said I had to send 250 , l said like I don't have no money , he stop talking so I said HELLO ARE YOU THERE,  then he said something, that when I told him I didn't want the grant to keep it

Same call...But I told him I knew it was a scam as he got vulgar. The said "I could tell you my name and address and nobody would care". Also folks, the phone numbers are created to reflect your area of. Darby areas. Those calls are NOT Being made by people in the U.S. There are apps that are being used to create take numbers to identify their calls. Be careful do not provide accurate details. If you post resumes or answer are for a job do not include birth dates, social security numbers of home address u til you have researched the company contacting you. Some of those temp agencies are clones and/or not real and created to get your info. When you start getting credit card offers in the mail daily...put fraud alerts on your credit profiles with the CRA's.
