This number has been calling for a few days now. I called back and heard "you've missed a call from your bank or service provider". I hung up. The next time they called I answered. An auto-voice asked me to press 1 if I was the person they named, 2 if I was not. I pressed 2, and they continued asking for other personal information. They said it was Lloyds TSB Card Services.

    GENUINE!
Having finally contacted Lloyds TSB I found that the numbers are genuine and its a service provided by a third party (First Alert) - see the Finextra.com link below.  They use an auotmated service which leaves a message when any suspicious transactions take place on your account. It appears my bank card had been "skimmed" and used in an ATM in Russia!

If you do therefore get one of these automated messages - I would urge you to contact your bank asap - I left it a day before I rang and in that time the fraudsters tried to put through 4 transactions on my account.

    Not banking with them
I've received two calls from this number. The second I answered and said it was Lloyds. I do not bank with them. Has anyone else found it to be genuine?

    Annoyed
I have been getting calls off this number (up to 5 a day) from MBNA asking for Amy Stirling who is not me! I called MBNA today who say that its nothing to do with them and that they dont even have my mobile number. He also said it sounds a bit dodgy! He suggested that I call my service provider- O2. I just called O2 who are going to investigate the calls- they also recommended that I report to the police!

    These Calls ARE fake.

Ive just had a lenthy discussion with my bank on the phone who can confirm that if any fraudulent activity was going on with your account you would contacted directly by a member of staff and no a prerecorded message.

There are people saying that these calls are real and are from 'First Alert'. TSB have again confirmed only a personal call would take place and they dont dish out recorded messages for this sort of thing. Although 'First Alert' IS a fraud warning system i fear the numbers calling are using this as a smoke screen to gain your personal information.

Once again, THIS IS FRAUD. If you recieve one of these calls just hang up the phone, and dont press any buttons. Do a 1471 and jot down the number who called you and call your bank and pass on the details to them.

NEVER TRUST AN AUTOMATED VOICE WHICH HAS CALLED YOU.

08456306967 has been sending a data call to my mobile for the last 3 days.

Looking at http://www.saynoto0870.com/numbersearch.php the number is related to EGG. There's a local number you can call to moan at them 01332 395919. Seems as if they  are trying to contact someone regarding a suspicious transaction and have got the wrong number. Their "security team are looking into it and it should be resolved in 3-5 days". We'll see...

Hope this isn't too long-winded. I have been receiving these calls and texts for a while now. NatWest they said but as I don't have an account there I knew it was either phony or marketing. However 1471 returned a different number from the displayed 0845 number. e.g. 02079599909, 02079599910, 02079599914, 02089612611. The first of the numbers is from Noodle Phone. I've emailed them but so far no reply.
I also emailed my mobile provider (Carphone Warehouse) and without querying any further they promised to remove my number from future marketing! - (is this an admission?)
remember everyone can opt out of marketing calls through TPS http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/

These calls are genuine.  I got one almost immediately after a transaction was declined on my Lloyds TSB AMEX card as it hadn't been activated properly!

I would still just hang up on the automated service though and ring your card services company instead of passing on personal details!

Certainly genuine from my credit card company - I cancelled an online transaction last month near the end, after my card details were entered.  My parents received a call from what I think was this number (tip - make sure your details are always up to date, I thought mine were!), and I contacted the Halifax, who confirmed the number was used by them, and they put me through internally.

Changed my telephone contact details to my new house, and made two transactions within 30 seconds at a shop this weekend - 1st transaction less than £100, second was several hundred pounds.  My card was rejected with a query code and the store had to phone up to confirm and get a code to override and I had to speak to them to confirm details.

Arrived home - there is a message on the answerphone from this number, and on getting to work another from the same.  At least I know my contact details are correct now!

I've had the same thing for about a week now but the message says its the Nat West calling - I tried reporting this to the local police station but there was nothing they could do, only suggest that I change my number.

I have been getting these calls for weeks and weeks, they claim on their automated message to be nationwide, I always hang up, hating call centres and automated voices, now I find this is a scam, they don't give up they call several times from 5.00pm until 8.00pm (outside banking hours...Hmmm!) when they get nothing from you they give up calling for a couple of weeks then try your number again, crafty. Will now be contacting Nationwide to inform them of this SCAM.

Been getting calls from this number for the last couple of days. Recorded voice saying "Lloyds TSB Customer Services, press any key to continue..."
Obviously, I just hang up every time because a) I don't bank with TSB, and b) I'm not a complete fool....
A quick google turns up this:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/isle_of_man/6899474.stm
Be warned, if you press any key other than hang up, you will get stung for a premium rate call.

I also got this - it's definitely a scam - the owners of the number will get about 6 pence per minute of every call... Don't call it!

Received several calls this morning from 0845 6306967. With all the scams out there at the moment, I hung up as soon as I heard the automated voice mention MBNA.

However, I checked my account online and there were indeed several unposted (fraudulent) overseas transactions for £3K+. I called MBNA fraud department (0800 116 262) who confirmed my card had been cloned and was used overseas.

In light of the many telephone scams that exist today, I asked why they opted to use an automated call to alert you of the fraud. Apparently they use a mixture of personal and automated calls, and the reason for doing so is they don't have enough manpower!!

glad i'm not the only one being plagued by this. all of friday and today they were calling my mobile which i ended up diverting permenantly to voicemail because i was at work and the also called all day on the landline at home resulting in my mum pulling the phone out the wall as the call were happening almost every half hour. again they spent all of this morning receiving this calls.

mum called the operator as i spoke to abbey who i bank with and they have no record of the number, yet the operator said that banks/building socities/unitlity companies outsource fraud investigations and don't even tell their call centre staff/front line staff of it! needless to say its been a pain, and even if they continue to call back, i'm not convinced that its legit and i'm not going to fall for the scam of "pressing any key" and then having all my credit swiped and running up the phone bill on the landline!

this is NOT a SCAM. Its a genuine call on behalf of your bank, building society, credit card company or utility company. If you dont want to take the fine, but do contact one of the above - either its nothing or someone in Russia is having a good time at your expense whilst you are ignoring this and lodging complaints to the police......

    Received the following from Llyods

    Thanks for your recent email.

Having tried the number you provided, it would appear this isn't a Lloyds TSB telephone number.  I'm sorry for any concern this matter is causing you.
