Same thing happened to me - phone number that it was sent from was (513) 827-0486 - it also offered a Best Buy gift certificate and I received it on my iphone. When I called the number it says that the user has a vm that hasn't been set up.

This scam has nothing to do with Best Buy, it's a cheesy third party marketer who uses bogus gift cards to legitimate businesses  to get your personal information. Best Buy is fine ... they do not participate in this, nor does WalMart.

Same text message sent to me this AM, complaint page came up first when I googled the address. the number that sent the text was 1-423-807-0628. so I went to Best Buy gathered up 1,000$ in DVD's and walked out. It worked great, sure I had to park around the corner and run a little bit once I hit the door, but I got my 1,000$ worth of [***] from them. I suggest you all do the same!

    sad
Best Buy should look into this scam because it is making there company look sad. Also people might not want to buy at their stores any more or give there personal information at the check out.

I will not do any more opinion survey, or survey to win a free gift card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

     No Thanks

Mine mentioned phone number +15708479732.  This is a # out in China's Far West, in Xingiang near the Russian border. I called ATT customer service to report this; it is a scam.  Call your cell phone provider and they will tell you what to do.  The scam is trying to rip you off a $9.00 service fee I was told.

I got the same text this morning, as well. $1000, Best Buy, code 5555. I'm wondering if any of you posted something on Craigslist (or maybe any other similar site). I've been trying to sell some furniture on there, and it wasn't until I started posting the ad that I got this text and another similar text for Walmart.

Yes, I had bought some items on e-bay about a month ago. I notice the same place in China that was mentioned in an earlier post is where my item had been shipped from.  I got the same message on my cell about 1 hr. ago( $1000 gift card- Best Buy).  My message  was from 786 452 3667 code 5555.

The number that texted me was the same as yours.  I have also recently received items from china on ebay. That is probably the connection.  The point is, for all that get this text, DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER, DO NOT GO TO THE WEBSITE NOTED, BEST BUY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS. The perpetrators are just trying to get service fees from you.

I also got this message, $1000, best buy, Code 5555. from phone # 1-386-506-6486. it is recommended to text back STOP and forward the message to 7726 for AT&T customers. Also I did put an add on craigslist but it was a little while ago! Thank you for all the info.
