These people have been calling ma and my mothers house saying they are pressing charges and I need to call them back to settle these charges!!! I have not committed any crime so they should not be calling acting as such!!! They threatening to come to my job and every thing else!!!

    There aren't any "charges".
    They aren't "coming to your job".

    They are running a fraudulent "debt collection" shakedown scam.
    These scams prefer to contact relatives or employers first, pretending to be a "process server" as part of pretending to "sue" or "investigate a crime", etc. That shows that they are accessing credit reports and pulling skip-trace information to find your mother, which they could just as easily use to find and call you directly.

    It's all pretense, to get you to call back in a panic, and "settle" some alleged "debt" without any proof you even owe it, or that you owe it to them. It's also illegal.

    FDCPA prohibits debt collectors from using deception, harassment, or abuse to collect a debt.  It also requires that they send you a letter within 5 days of first contact notifying you of the alleged debt and of your right to dispute it and request proof you owe it.  These scam collectors ignore and violate the law to evade having to provide any proof you owe them.  Deception, abuse, and harassment, including making illegal threats, or deceptively alleging you have "committed a crime", are all indications of fraud.

    File complaints with FTC and your state Attorney General.

    You might also sue them, for violating FDCPA, and if you win, courts can award you damages and attorney fees, so there are attorneys who take these cases on contingency.  You can find a consumer attorney in your state through www.naca.net

      I have been harrassed afg&associate has called my mother telling her I owe a debt if it does not get paid they will put a lean on my house car garnish wages intercept income taxes, or worse jail. I laughed at them and hung up but they almost fooled my mother which wanted to pay my fake debt. Don't be fooled!!!!! It's a scam

        They're trying to make it look like "skip-tracing", so there appears to be a "lawsuit".  Also, if they find a vulnerable relative, they can sometimes pull the "Johnny's in trouble" con, and get money out of them.

          This is very true they called my boyfriend phone and mom house phone saying I owe them money and also said something about skip tracing

    Paul degeorge is a [***] scamming peice of [***] who claims to be a paralegal and is no more than a debt collector who goes by paul murphy.

        I called them back at the number on the caller ID.  I asked for an address an I was given a PO box 3821 Valencia CA.  But the telephone number was local to my area in TN.  They were horribly argumentative, then she said "you don't have a file here"....wtf.  I know I don't.

          Exact same thing happened to me.  Very rude. And I was trying to get to bottom of it. And they wouldn't tell me anything. Then would continue to hang up on me when I kept calling them back. They said you don't have any case or will receive a warrant or something. I said. Well I will be waiting on them to show up because I have never owed any one or do I now. I just wish I knew where they were. People like this need to be taken care of. Since our government. Want do it.

    They called threatening us over an old sprint bill from 16 years ago. We paid them and now Sprint still show's it as a debt and there is nothing we can do about it. They are a scam.... They just called us back and tried to pull it again regarding the same account. They are claiming to prosecute us and etc... They are using the name AMG i believe. When we asked for their address they wouldn't give it to us. They said all the information we need will be on the court documents.

    I just received a call from AMG &Associates. They used verbage like Criminal Charges, Fraud, Jail and scare tactics like you will be served at your home. Have two forms of ID and make sure your pets are put up because the process server will use force to prevent an attack by your pet . They told me I owed one amount by Jeff Lombardo. I am going to see if there is a class action suit against them.

      they called my cell #  I wanted to speak to them, so made a selection. the guy asked my for my case # then the phone, said is this dan XXXXXXXXXX, I said yes, ss# ending in xxxx. I said NO. he said stop lying...LOL then said the court papers will be served. called back 3 times to him and he would not tell me the SSN # again... they are calling from Vashon Island, Washington.

    They just called me from a local Philadelphia phone number and claimed I owed a VISA bill from 2004!  Said I was going to be locked up if I didn't pay!

    They just called my husband, told him that he owes $400 from a Citibank account from 2001-2005 (which we never had) & that they would settle for $1120.40. They told him that IF he didn't pay that they would bring "Fraud" charges against him. When he asked them to send him proof of what he owes & from whom, they told him that they already did that many many times by mail & since he hasn't responded that they are taking legal actions UNLESS he settles today with them...IF not, that he will end up paying over $3000 with all of the legal fees. They even gave him a case #. He called me all frantic & I told him that we've never had a damn credit card from Citibank, we've never had any credit cards accept for our bank cards from OUR bank. Men. Ugh. I am reporting them to the FTC & State Attorney General for violating FDCPA laws (www.naca.net)...let's see how they like it.

    "Jeff Lombardo" from AMG Associates just called me threatening to serve me papers with the county sheriff and charge me for fraud because of a bill from 1998.  LOL what a joke.  It was a total shakedown, either pay them right now or they will have me served.  The original bill was around $150 and now the amount due is only $2200.

    I was charged erroneously in 1998 and fought it.  I had to pay it off in 2000 when I bought my house.  This bill has haunted me for almost 20 years.  I paid it, never should have owed it and only paid it to get my first mortgage.  It's the only bill in my entire life I never paid on time.  I have a credit score of 831, I pay when I owe.  Can't wait to be "served".

    Some guy calling himself "Jeff Lombardo just called, said i owed Circuit city a debt from 1998-2005 and it was going to court if i did not pay it now.
    The statue of limitations is 10 years..

    I told him i am not commiting to anything, he got real snarky with me and then hung up.  cant wait to see what comes of this..
