I was shocked when I reading Proactiv sold private info. and since I'm a proactiv customer, I called customer service & questioned them & the woman said they actually DONT sell info. to Unknown 'telemarketers' its the SAME company (or woman) that places your order (aka, 'inbound' call) when u 1st call to order that actually calls u back & do whats called 'outbound' calls to try to win back old customers. So, essentially its the same company not 'selling' anything to anybody. Just using the same workers to do all the work......but I can see how u thought they 'sold' info. Now I just feel silly for believing it.

And the reason she told me they call out is just to offer us great offers we "cant get on t.v., online, in the mail or anywhere else." So I would like to be called for a great offer to help me save money! I mean, everyone complains about how expensive it is anyway, right?

I wanted 2 order ProActiv, but googled "ProActiv Complaints" 1st & saw all these negative reviews, but I decided to go on the website & see 4 sure if ProActiv really tells u about shipping u more products & to my surprise it did! So, I thought 'I can place this order, cuz it's telling me plain as day....whatever' Right before I submitted my order there's a paragraph saying something like you'll get shipp. every 90 days a 3 month supply for the MONTHLY price of 19.95 (shipp.$8)So I would assume thats EVERY month that I would be billed, but shipped every 3 months. So, I decided to call the website # online & claify this before placing my order & the women answered my question right away & said "yes, u r billed 3 monthy payments, basically so your not paying $60 at once- unless u want to of course. But this starts out as payments" So she was asking me my info. & I was letting her take a little bit of my order, while I asked questions (cuz I luv to ask questions) & she explained the whole "replenishment program" throughly telling me 'Ance is not curable & will come back if u stop using the product so thats why they continue to ship (which is something I never knew, I thought it was curable; silly me)& I'm an honest person; so I told her about going online & reading ppl being charged w/o knowing it....then she said b/c I gave her my email, I would get a e-mail confirmation telling me the order being shipped @ about the "replenishment" & my invoice when I get this in the mail, would actually say the exact dates of the next shipp. so I would know a month ahead of time when I'd be billed & she said I could CANCEL at any time even BEFORE the next shippment so I did NOT have to get the 90-day supply if I didn't want 2 & they have a 60-day $ back gaurentee (sp?) which I spent lots of $ buying over-the-counter products which I CANNOT return! bla, bla..so I let her take my order & I think the most annoying thing was, even though she explained the "replenishment"; recieving future shipp.in the beginning of the call...she told me again after she took my card # & Again at the end of the call, so I'm thinking, "if I already know about it lady,u don't need to tell me 3x's." which I said nicely (cuz I'm not going to be mean about it, u know, just make a joke)..so she tells me that she HAD to tell me twice! She said "legally" they HAVE to tell u before & after taking your card! Or they cant process your order & they'd have to cancel & she gave me the cust. service # at the end of the call. I wrote it down to have on hand..& guess what?...I got that email confirm. 2 days later & w/in a week, I got my Proactiv w/ an invoice telling me the exact dates of my next shipp.! so I called cust. service & had them put my next shipp. on hold untill I'm ready to call back to order more (2 see how well this works). Which the women in cust. service was nice w/ me & said she understood & put it on hold & reminded me about the 24/7 skin care advisors, if I have any questions about the products.(Which I would never have that option w/ any store brand products)So, I'm thinking are these ppl 'online' NOT reading the whole website (& maybe only reading what they want to read, aka, 'selective reading and hearing') or maybe your just talking to reps. from other countries who dont know how to speak english well, & u cant understand them so u say "ok" to everything...I'm confused...I only know 3 other ppl that use proactiv & upon questioning....they had nuttin bad to say cuz they read everything, understood what they were being told, paid attention...bla, bla.  So I'll see how well this works for my face. I just dont like ppl talking trash when this info. was in my face & was told over & over about future shipp. and had it all laid out! I just set up my acct. online and reviewed everything on the website.

I have been receiving phone calls from 888-888-8888 every night between the hours of 1:00am to 4am.  When I call the number back, it goes to ProActive.  First of all, I have never order this product or any other product from this company.  Secondly, they say it is a hacker, however, my question is still raised, "how did they get my number in the first place?".  Additionally, when I called to find out about this issue on two different days, I spoke to a Troy and a Cameron, who both were very rude.  In fact Troy hung up on me.  Should I ever have the need for acne medicine or have future needs for acne medicine I WILL NOT PURCHASE from this company.  I am in the process of drafting a complaint.

yeah try to cancel your account and then they will CONTINUE to ship it to you and bill you. oh yeah and 60 day back guarantee is bs because it takes 2-3 weeks to get the product and 2-3 weeks for them to receive it. good luck because you will need that with this company. good luck and a good lawyer

Guthy Renker is a scam. If you watch their ads, they basically sell the same products in different packages. I purchased Meaningful Beautiful, which is about the same as Victoria Principle’s product. Only wanted and ordered the 30 trail kit on line to avoid the sales tactics. In bold letters, it states what you get and in small print, says they will start shipping you product every 3 months at a monthly payment of over $50 (w/shipping). I called and spoke to a rude customer service rep. She kept saying it’s on the site. So while I had her on the phone, I went to the site. Sure enough, it was there, which I missed. I asked why wasn’t that statement in bold to make customers aware of this agreement. Her sarcastic reply was she didn’t know and I would have to ask Guthy Renker. I told her to quickly cancel any pending shipments.

I also questioned the size of their 90 day supply. Per the 30 day trail size, the 90 day supply was only double. So they are trying to sell me a 60 day supply for 90 pricing. Her answer was all the products were not to be used every day. I quickly pointed out per their pamphlet, the mask was the only thing not to be used daily. Of course, she had an answer (excuse) for everything. No wonder GR is a multi billion $ company.

I then asked if I could just by the product as needed. I said I did not see it on the site to purchase separate, which is how they make big money. She said I could not online but had to call them direct. NOT!!

I can’t believe Cindy Crawford endorses this product. I really liked her, not because she is beautiful but because I thought she was a genuine good person, unless she is clueless. But I guess what does she care, just more money to add to her millions. After reading several complaints about this company, I read that Cindy does Botox. Is that false advertisement?

I suggest everyone run the any product GR sales. They need to change their marketing. Sure, right now they are raking in big money but it will catch up with them one day. Oh wait, they have billions of $’s to pay their way out of it.

The same thing happened to me. I cancelled them in May and they told me that I was "cancelled". So I wasn't worried about it. Then, they send me a yellow envelope from North Shore Agency that said that they had sent me to collections for forty-five dollars for a shipment in JUNE that I NEVER recieved because I had CANCELLED my account. I call them immediately after I recieve the notice and they proceed to tell me I never cancelled my account. That I only removed my credit card. So they said they had automatically shipped me a package.. THAT I THOUGHT I CANCELLED... and than charged me for it. I spent an hour on the phone with them talking to two managers that proceeded to tell me that they couldn't do anything about it. I paid those greedy mother F*****G scammers and told them that I recorded the phone call and I want my information deleted from their systems and if they ever contact me through phone, email, or mail I will sue them for harrassement. By the way you might want to call them up and tell them to delete all of your information as well because they sell your info. FULL OF SCAMMERS. Gunthy Renker I hope you and your company rott in hell for the bull S**T scams you create. Robbing innocent people for a product that doesn't work.

FTC settlement with Expert Global Solutions and its subsidiaries, including NCO and NOrth Shore Agency.

      http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2013/07/nco.shtm

      "For Release: 07/09/2013
World's Largest Debt Collection Operation Settles FTC Charges, Will Pay $3.2 Million Penalty
Largest Civil Penalty Ever Obtained by the FTC Against a Third-party Debt Collector

The world’s largest debt collection operation, Expert Global Solutions and its subsidiaries, has agreed to stop harassing consumers with allegedly illegal debt collection calls and to pay a $3.2 million civil penalty – the largest ever obtained by the Federal Trade Commission against a third-party debt collector.

In its complaint, the FTC charged that the companies violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the FTC Act by using tactics such as calling consumers multiple times per day, calling even after being asked to stop, calling early in the morning or late at night, calling consumers’ workplaces despite knowing that the employers prohibited such calls, and leaving phone messages that disclosed the debtor’s name, and the existence of the debt, to third parties.  According to the FTC’s complaint, the companies also continued collection efforts without verifying the debt, even after consumers said they did not owe it.

Under the proposed order, whenever a consumer disputes the validity or the amount of the debt, the defendants must either close the account and end collection efforts, or suspend collection until they have conducted a reasonable investigation and verified that their information about the debt is accurate and complete.  The proposed order also restricts situations in which the defendants can leave voicemails that disclose the alleged debtor’s name and the fact that he or she may owe a debt.

Also under the proposed order, the defendants must:  stop falsely representing that they will not call a number to collect a debt; not harass, oppress, or abuse a consumer while attempting to collect a debt; not communicate with third parties about a consumer’s debt; not communicate with a consumer at his or her workplace if it is clearly inconvenient or prohibited by the consumer’s employer; except in limited circumstances, cease communications if a consumer has requested no further contact or if a consumer refuses to pay a debt; and not violate any provision of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  The defendants also are required to record at least 75 percent of all their debt collection calls beginning one year after the date of the order, and retain the recordings for 90 days after they are made.

With more than 32,000 employees and revenues in 2011 of more than $1.2 billion, the Texas-based Expert Global Solutions and its subsidiaries – ALW Sourcing, LLC; NCO Financial Systems, Inc.; and Transworld Systems, Inc., which also does business as North Shore Agency, Inc. – collectively are the largest debt collector in the world.  In addition to their U.S. offices, the companies operate in Canada, Barbados, India, the Philippines, and Panama.

Yeah I did the same thing. I asked a whole bunch of questions. New about the automatic shipments. Was well informed. By the way they only have to tell you twice because of all the customer complaints and because now they LEGALLY have to. I was happy until the product didn't work for me and I tried cancelling it. I cancelled it in May and they claim they had sent me a package in June that I never recieved. I shouldn't of recieved it anyway I cancelled it way before it was supposed to be shipped out. Then they proceed to try to bill me for a product that I never recieved. They even sent me to collections for it. I was forced to pay those scammers an extra forty five dollars for a product I thought I cancelled. Turns out that they said that I didn't cancel it that I only cancelled my credit card not the automatic shipping. Yeah they are two seperate things apparently. And by the way I bet you can read the site thousands of times and not be aware that they sell your info. They sell your cell phone number and address to some of their affliates. Good luck and I hope that the product works really well for you because cancelling it will cost you money.

Proactiv DOES sell personal info. Childrens International, a company soliciting money for children told me yesterday that they bought my information from Proactiv. They sent me letters and I called up furious and demanded to know how they got my info. I will follow through with the FTC and BBB.

Oh, and btw, they also set me another set of products after I cancelled my account and demanded I pay for it. Their products work which make it all the more upsetting that they are so highly unethical.

Several years back I used proactiv's product. It worked wonders for my skin, cleared it up and kept it looking healthy. I ran out of the product and never reordered. About 6 months ago I ordered more hoping that it would clear up my chin. My chin was the only place on my face that had constant breakouts and left scars. After getting the product, I did see that they planned on debiting my card again for me to receive more product. That wasn't happening. I cancelled my membership. I never asked to have a membership. I asked for a product. Well apparently their new formula isn't that great. I had large painful pimples on my chin. I used the "zapping" mask nightly and tried all the oil free products. Nothing worked. My chin pimples did not clear up unitl I quit using ProActiv. When a customer orders, a new formula information should be given to the customer. Change was not good for me. I have scars to prove it!

I was completely unaware that they automatically bill you and send you product so I canceled by account, however the first shipment was already sent and I was in the middle of the process of paying for it. Low an behold the original shipment never came. I called complained and made them re-ship my order. Of course the incompetent morons  shipped me the wrong product. So I called back was promised a product as compensation looked online only to see that they did not ship the compensation item. So I called them yet again and was told that they cannot give me such an item as compensation. Oh and I still never got the 3rd shipment. I am convinced they are both mentally and physically incapable of doing their job. Guthy-Renker inc. should not be allowed to do business in the US.

i attempted to order some proactiv and they declined my card even though it was working.  I cancelled the order and purchase one tube of defining mask at an area mall.  Nearly two weeks later they sent the proactiv--TWICE-- and caused my bank account to go in the negative.  I have called three times to cancel and have spoken with 4 supervisors.  Proactiv has incompetent representatives and they really need additional training.  However, I will never call them again.   I am in the midst of a fight for reimbursement from proactiv.

I never used ProActiv because of a terrible experience with the company in the past. Roughly 6 years ago, my sibling and I decided to try out ProActiv for our acne problems so we sent a check to ProActiv around October. We patiently waited about 2-3 months for the shipment to arrive but it never did. My mom checked her bank account statement and it showed that ProActiv did cash in her check for $30. So, finally in January, I called ProActiv and spoke to a representative about this issue. I asked for a refund because we never received the shipment, but she told us that she wasn't able to confirm our order because they did a clean up of their database recently. So, orders from a while back will not be stored. I tried to tell her that we have proof that ProActiv charged us $30 (from the bank statement) and that we never received the shipment, but she kept on saying that she had no information about this order. We went back and forth and she started raising her voice at me. Eventually, I knew this wasn't going to go anywhere, so I just hang up. Afterwards, I never tried to order from ProActiv again. My sibling is now using a brand sold in local stores and pharmacies.

    Dear Proactiv,    29 January 2012

I am writing to inform you that I will not be using your products any further.  Before I could use them long enough to see if they actually were beneficial, I was unable to get the products I delivered to me. I have been dealing unsuccessfully with your customer service department for two months. Being I have no confidence in your ability to deliver a product, I have no faith in the efficacy of the products themselves.
After receiving my initial order which you know is really consists of trial portions, I considered ordering more. I was unaware that I had signed up for a kit that was sent to me automatically in mid-November, 2011. I receive little mail and did not go to my PO Box for weeks and had no idea the kit was even there.
In the meantime, I ordered my own customized kit and waited for it. After some time and it did not arrive, I was told by customer service that it should have been shipped and they would re-order but that any such reflection on my account via your website would not show up for a few days. I did this three times when finally some rep with at least a little knowledge said it was because of any unpaid balance of my original kit which had shipped.
I paid the amount due once I knew of its existence and tried again to get my own kit shipped. My question to you is what point is there to have an “account” if unpaid balances are not displayed and there was no option to pay it?
Again, my own kit did not arrive and again three more attempts to get it out to me was promised by customer service reps. On the 2nd attempt I was told the holdup was back order status of one of the items but the rep told me she would get the kit shipped minus the back ordered items. Nothing ever arrived so I called again and went through the same wasteful exercise of speaking to another rep knowing they could do nothing. She said no supervisor was available at that time but one would call me, “within 5 days”. This is laughable. This company is obviously not equipped to deal with problems and customers are its last concern. No one ever called.
Never did my order ever appear on the website. The back order status might be something a customer would want to know, perhaps? The ability to know an item is on back order without having to call in to an agent is also something a customer would want to know.
The time and frustration I put into what should be a simply e-commerce activity has been absurd. I believe my automatic kit might ship but I will not pay for it. I do not want to see any collection activity for this either. Your company has wasted my confidence and time. I was not able to get the products I ordered.
Perhaps you’re doing so well, you don’t need to worry about problems like mine but if you do, you had better get them fixed.

Proactive is SUCH A RIP OFF! I love their product but they are scammers. I was faced with the hard decision to quit their product because of the poor business ethics. I was talking so positively about them and thought they may have changed from the first time they scammed me in 2004. You fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame ON ME! Lesson learned they will no longer have my business nor my friends or family. Luckily they sell the same product at the grocer with no hidden fees!!!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!
