I have a do not call number and the caller from Visa and Mastercard Credit card services refused to remove the number.  They are also trying to get my credit card information to "lower my rates"

They aren't "Visa and Mastercard Services".

They are some "lower your rates" scam, probably from a telemarketer out of Florida.

They deceptively claim to be connected to VISA and MasterCard, so contact those two companies to report their deceptive use of their tradenames.

Scammers commonly use VoIP to make cheap calls from out of the country.  It allows them to easily change numbers, and they can choose what "area code" they call from.  Many scams use "202" so it appears that they are calling from "Washington DC".
For example, this is common with Indian swindlers pretending to offer "government grants".

I have had the same experience Diane. I pressed the caller and she told me twice that the name of the company was "visa and mastercard services" and that they worked with BOA, Citibank, and chase(i think)

As before, as soon as I told them I'm on the DNC list and I instructed them not to call me previously, the caller hung up.

Same thing, every day I get a call.  As soon as I say I don’t want to be called anymore they hand up the phone.

I have figured out that it is when (every time) I purchase something like a new car battery, anything with a warranty, that I start getting lots of the 'lower your credit care limit' scam calls.

I am so sick of these people calling me; I am on the DNC list but one "gentleman" told me they were a govt. service informing everyone how to lower their interest rates. First of all I don't use Visa or MC and I don't have any interest payments, ever! Anyone who will talk to me has refused" to remove my number because "they don't have to" -- they say they can stay according to the rules of DNC.  I don't believe them!!!!!!!!!!

I have just had the same experience as others, I asked for their name and mailing address and the operator hung up on me.  I've received calls from them all summer long and they have not removed my number.  How do we report these thugs?

Well, I guess I'm the latest victim. The same thing is happening to me. I, too, am DNC. Yesterday they called me twice. Before that every day for a week. I want to track them down so the authorities can get to them. The ones that are calling me are doing so from Casa Grande, AZ. If anybody has any further information, please reply.

My mother got a call from them today, as she was about to give them personal info, I took the phone.  When I questioned him he became irate as I could not get an answer from him as to his exact company's name.  All I could get is Visa and Mastercard services.  I asked for a phone number and he gave me Visa's number.  The end result is that he called me a [***] and told me to F off as I wouldn't comply.  I have reported them to visa and the man told me he was from Orlando earlier in the conversation

I received a phone call today re: "lowering your interest rate", I was told they work for Visa and Mastercard Services and wanted to lower my interest rates...I was curious and listened for a minute and that's all it took...

Within a minute of the phone call, they asked for the full credit card number from the card with the highest interest rate.

I immediately refused and he told me they have the information anyways, they were just verifying. I said if you have the info, what is the last four digits of my card...no response..."security purposes"...LOL

I asked for their physical address and phone number and they could not provide either...beware!

i used to get those calls 2x a week. when you question them they hang up. obviously they are not behaving reputably. so what i did is engage them in a conversation and then put them on hold while I "look'" for my card they eventually hang up. they made a few more tries as they thought they had a "sucker" and now they don't call my number. perhaps i am on their do not call list.

I'm so glad I thought to Google this situation. We used to get a call from them a week, then two, and now we're getting two a DAY. Anytime we try to speak with a person about taking us off their call list (we are also DNC)or complain, they immediately hang up. I don't know why they continue to call as we're obviously not interested in their offer. I now see that's it's a scam, but with no way to track down who they really are, we can't move against them legally. I like the idea of messing with them if that really gets them to stop calling. Has this worked for anyone else? Any other ideas?

If you are in a state where recording a phone call is legal, record them and send it in to various news agencies. Make sure to ask for their company name and things like that so it is a good story for the news.
