Do not...I repeat...do NOT buy a Bluegreen timeshare under any conditions. No matter how sweet it may sound, it is a rip-off. My wife and I bought one, and we are in a continual state of regret about it. It is virtually impossible to sell (the same amount of points we bought for $10,000 are selling for about $3,000 online), plus we have yearly fees of about $700 that must be paid for us to even be able to keep using it.

Here are some of the things you may not hear while you're in a Bluegreen presentation... we didn't:

-each year you will have to pay both "maintenance fees" and "club dues," which for us amount to over $700. If you don't pay, you can't use any of your points at all until you do pay.

-many of the resorts they tell you about can only be booked in 7-day increments, which means you'll take that trip and no others for two years because you'll use up all your points on that single trip.

-we just found this one out... if you don't have the points, you can't book a trip... for example, we get 12,000 new points in July, so I called to book something in August. Well, I can't do that until I "have the points." Of course, by the time the points actually show up, all the places will be booked for the summer. We're all paid up on maintenance fees and club dues, so we will definitely get the points, but too bad... we have to wait. The person on the phone even sympathized with me and said he understood what I was saying, but too bad.

-they say they will help you rent your timeshare, but this is a joke. Your timeshare will never rent for anything near what you need to maintain the fees on it, much less pay it off.

-they tell you that you can book things just a day or two in advance, but this is almost never possible in real life. Things are booked up months in advance.

Owning a Bluegreen timeshare is like a weight that you have to drag around with you for the rest of your life. There are many places that will rent timeshares if you like that kind of thing, and you can usually get them fairly cheap and without any obligation for the future. When I imagine paying $700 a year for the rest of my life, it feels amazingly scary. Don't do it. You're locking yourself into something that will never end when there is absolutely no need to do so.

They give you the free trip, then take advantage of how little you've researched timeshares when you're in the presentation. They tell you this price can only be offered this one time, and that you can't take another trip. It's all cheap sales techniques, and they wouldn't be necessary if it were something people really benefited from.

We even looked on the internet during our sales presentation... if only I had come across a letter like this, we probably wouldn't have bought, and we'd be much better off. At least take a few days to think about it. If they can't give you that long to think, they're tricking you anyway.

Buying a Bluegreen timeshare is a terrible decision. They, like many salespeople, will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to buy, knowing that they will not personally be accountable for any misrepresentations of the truth later on.

One thing they promised us is that we could rent our timeshare. Now they've done away with that aspect as well, so you either use it, keep paying about $700 in fees each year along with whatever you paid originally, or you just lose the points. Every letter we receive is something else they're taking away from us.

The most recent thing that happened was that we had tried to rent ours out for 10,000 points (most of our points) before they decided to stop letting people do that. So I called today, 10 days in advance, to check and make sure it was rented, since this is the cut-off for when I can cancel without losing points. So the guy on the phone told me that yes, it is rented. And I asked, "Well, what happens if the people cancel sometime in the next 10 days?" He said, "We don't have any control over that, sir." And I said, "I understand that, but I don't either. So what happens to my points if they cancel?" And he said, "Well, you lose those points."

So some renter I don't even know can decide to back out at the last minute, and I lose 10,000 points and don't get to travel or make any money from my timeshare for 2 years! That seems fair...

Everything Bluegreen does seems to be a way to get themselves more money and screw over their "valued customers."

And Bluegreen, if you're reading this, don't bother calling me trying to get me to revoke the complaint... we're trying to sell our timeshare as quickly as we can and hopefully never have any interaction with you for as long as we live.

    Bluegreen sucks unless you can go to Spain with 2 days or you could opt to going to Mexico or the Dominican Republic with a week notice and pay more than twice as much for all inclusive resorts.

    I inherited a BG time share. What a rip off.
     I went to a "free" three day stay, had to endure a thee hour sales pitch.
      The pitchman professed to have many PHD's, (one being finance). ,and an ordained Bishop. When, after three hours, yes, I let him run on, and, on, I declined. I called it a money pit. He said he had a phd in finance, and I knew nothing about the subject, to trust What he was saying. BS.

    We bought into this about 8 years ago - believed all the lies... the cruise that we never received...rent it out for MF $.... yeah right.  During the sales presentation at Laurel Crest in Pigeon Forge, TN, we were told that we would never be stuck with the timeshare, that Bluegreen would buy it back any time we wanted to sell - he even held up a paper supposedly showing a timeshare bought back from a widow just the day before.  Well, now my husband has Alzheimers and I NEED to get rid of this thing and can't even GIVE it away!  Tonight I was trying to reserve a unit in TN for a little respite time and kept coming up with nothing available.... then I switched to motels and lo and behold - there was Bluegreen's Mountainloft for $184 a night!!!   Another way they're screwing their "owners" - we can't get the units we want but non-owners can rent those same rooms.   So freaking unfair!  And our MF's and dues come to just over $1,000 a year and goes up every year - and that's for only 16,000 points.  I tried to not pay and just let it go back to Bluegreen but was told I'd be turned over to a collection agency.... this is really scary for me too.  As I get older - my husband passes away and I lose that income there is NO WAY I can keep paying that.....   PLEASE PLEASE post here if anybody finds a way to sue Bluegreen.

    We also have a bluegreen ownership to sell.  We have only owned since January 2012 but have not been able to book in Orlando, GulfShores, St. Augustine, or Gatlingurgh.  We never thought we would fall for a "timeshare" scam.  But after listening for 8 hours of how wonderful it would be... we fell for it.  I am a teacher and my husband is a police chief... educated people falling for too good to be true.  HELP!!! How do we get out?

    We were at the Blue Green, Fountains Orlando, a few months ago for $120 a night, and that was booked through their reservation department.  Why anyone would pay anything up front, in addition to an upfront fee of thousands, when you can get it for $120 a night really baffles me.  Resort was nice, pool was great, location was 10-15 minutes away from everywhere.

    All the complaints I've read are legitimate - we inherited ours. Cannot find one person who can give us a location to go to in order to speak with someone face to face. Yet when they wanted to upgrade my in-laws to sell them more, there sure was an office full of people, shallow smiles and cheap refreshments. They are wanting to charge us for "inheriting" the timeshare. Our attorney told us to have them send us the by-laws.  Four weeks and 8 people later and STILL no can help us with anything.

    BLUEGREEN IS A RIPOFF AND THE ONLY ONES WHO THIN OTHERWISE ARE ON THEIR PAYROLL. PERIOD.  The complaints online and with the BBB far outweigh the few positive comments left by their employees.

    Oh boy, I signed up for a presentation next week!
    Big Cedar Lodge looked like a great place we would love to vacation once a year, but sounds like we shouldn't buy.  We only vacation during July, August, September, does anyone know if it is difficult to book a place with BG during this time?  THX for the advice everyone.

      The secret is booking early otherwise it can be difficult. We've called at the last minute and gotten in due to someone canceling. It's a great place especially if you have kids. I have 20,000 silver points we'd like to sell for the price of the anual maintance fee if you are interested, just don't travel much anymore.

    I was invited to a timeshare meeting with bluegreen. I asked if i could have a day to review all of the details before i signed. You would have thought i had committed a murder. They made me feel like some kind of criminal. I told them that i do not buy a car without a test drive ams i wasnt locking into a contract for a timeshare. They made me feel like crap! I feel for all of the people hurt by bluegreen. I am glad that there r a few people not hurt by bluegreen. Like someone said earlier.....if it sounds too good to be true..it probably is!!!!!

    I paid $10,000 for 8,000 points every two years with $650 yearly maintenance fee. I can never find any place available and don't want to stay a week at a time. I wish every time I think about that $10,000 , I wish o had not made that hasty decision.

    YES IS TRUE!! BLUE GREEN IS A SCAM!! THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIARS!! THIS IS A SCAM!! FIRST THEY SHOW YOU THIS GORGEOUS ROOMS AND TELLING PEPLOPLE THAT ALL THE ROOMS ARE THE SAME.. THEN YOU YOU RETURN THEY GIVE YOU THIS NASTY ROOMS... THE TV'S ARE FROM THE 70'S THE ROOMS ARE NASTY... THINGS DON'T WORK.. NOT ONLY THAT THE MAINTANENCE FEES... BLUE GREEN RESORTS IS A SCAMMMM PEOPLE... I AM SO PISSED OF...
