CDWS was the biggest scam.  I had the warranty for about 5 months and had gone 4,000+ miles when my fan clutch and heater core went out on me.  I contacted CDWS to see if I could take it to the dealer to have it checked out.  They told me yes.  So when I did the michanic found that my heater core was going out and my fan clutch was also almost toast.  Then when the mechanic countacted CDWS and told them the problem they said no we will not pay for what is covered he asked why and got no response.  I myself have tried to contact them and have got hung up on givin wrong numbers, and treated rudely.  If anyone else has been treaded this way or been scamed by this company then let me know my email is sharkasurf@comcast.net  I would love to file a class action lawsuit against this company, and get them shut down.  Thanks

No insurance or warranty is any better than the integrity or financial strength of the company that stands behind it.

If you don't know from its track record whether they actually stand behind their promises, then you are buying a "pig in a poke".

Ok. So I have my car in the shop now for a repair that is listed covered under the contract. So far the dealership and I can not talk to a live person and they have the dealer ship jumping though hoops to file claim. They can only be reached by fax or by internet. All I get is voice mall.  If this doesnt get covered I will be contacting my congress and rep also the BBB and consumer reports. My attorney will also be contacted. I hope for there sake it is resolved soon!

With all due respect to the people who complain, look at their BBB rating its still A-. I had no problems getting to my agent that sold my policy and getting my claims paid. Your either doing something wrong or filing claims against non covered components. The 2 people abpve are probably rude and inconsiderate to begin with. I recommend CDWS to anyone looking for a Extended warranty for their vehicle. Look at the BBB rating....A- thats incredible considering they sellover 3000,000 policies a yr. 2 people above complaining out of over 300,000? Ill take those odds any day.

It is unfortunate in today's economy that CDWS still tries to take advantage of the american people. New cars are expensive and with unemploement at all time high's people like me purchased a vehicle protection plan from CDWS to minimize debt and drive a used vehicle until economic conditions improve. I am a recent victim of this scam. First denial came from "oversize tires". I called the GM dealership and they confirmed the tires on the vehicle were the correct size. I even took pictures of the specifications on the door jam confirming the correct size tires. Claim was re-opened. I have now been denied 3 seperate times for a sungear failure in the transimission. ASE certified transmission specialist (over 20 years experience) stated the condition was a mechanical failure. Broken pieces were found in the pan. Pictures were taken and faxed along with written statement. Claim was denied 3 seperate times. I'm seeking legal council now. I had the policy for over a year and had driven 5K miles when the failure occured. I feel sorry for the people in the claims processing center who have to deny these claims knowing it is a scam. For certain CDWS does not discriminate. They have pushed their warranty services on the young, veterans, disabled, and senior citizens no matter of financial status only to breach the contract when a claim is submitted. I would like to ask CDWS of all the claims submitted how many are denied?

I purchased this warranty while my vehicle was still under factory warranty. I had an issue with my vehicle that was strictly mechanical failure and they deny my claim because i have not maintained my vehicle to their standards. My vehicle is only 15k miles out of warranty  and i can assure that i have maintained it properly. This is a SCAM. I feel cheated and will report this to the BBB.

I was going to Warrensburg Mo. for a 10 min. meeting with a client  yesterday May 25th. I was 10.5 miles out of town when my 2004 Dodge Neon suddenly lost power. I pulled over to the shoulder and opened the hood since I THOUGHT I smelled gas. (Could this be a fuel pump?...) A tow truck was only 2 min. behind me and stopped to ask if I needed help. I was busy on the phone TRYING to contact CDWS with the number provided on their card. After SEVERAL tries, I contacted a friend who looked for their number online. I was finally able to contact a LIVE human being and advised them of the problem. SHE said "have the car towed to a dealership nearby and get the claim started it shouldn't be any problem". ( I did so at the cost of 100.00...a little costly only being 10.5 miles out of town. It was towed to Warrensburg Chrysler Dodge for repair. It took them a while to get connected with them but after 2 hours, they told them ** I ** had to agree to pay the 335.00 tear-down fee to see what was wrong. I agreed (what choice do I really have) and off they went to see what the problem was. Come to find out, the timing belt had broken and needed replaced. The dealership TRIED to contact them but a claim form was to be sent within 24 hours. NOW I am stuck in town and need to check in to a motel. The next morning, they still had NOT heard from the people at CDWS so I called. I was very polite and asked them if they could please look in to this situation. Her name was Sarah and she was helpful but she also advised me that she was only a 3rd party service rep. and couldn't do too much. When I went BACK to the dealership around noon, the mechanics inspection (ASE certified), advised me that upon further examination they had found that the valve had been bent in the No. 1 cylinder and it would take more than just another timing belt. The cost would be around 3500.00 for repairs (a new engine with 35k miles...warranted. The dealership faxed ALL paperwork that CDWS had requested. I had even contacted our local mechanics for further proof that the car had been VERY WELL maintained and had it faxed to the dealership knowing that it would probably be needed. The dealership received a call back about 2 hours later (approx. 3pm) and was advised that the claim was DENIED !! since it was a "Maint. Item". I am now forced to either have the car repaired or trade it in on a NEW Dodge from the dealership. I feel I have been "Scammed" since in their commercials and Ads, they say "You will never have any out of pocket expenses" which is a CROCK. They will only pay up to 100.00 for towing (lucky me) and up to 150.00 for a rental car while your vehicle is being repaired. What about the hotel bill since I was stranded there overnight?? NOPE...not a chance. I have seethed over this entire episode since I left Warrensburg Mo. back to Maryville. I feel cheated, violated and totally ripped off. If ANYONE is considering a class action suit, let me know. I will be the 1st to sign on. I WILL get justice in this matter. I DO have friends in HIGH places in our Mo. government and I WILL (if need be) turn it over to them. I can be reached at  skcurry99_lmtd@yahoo.com. Lets get this show on the road. I will say that the dealership was very helpful in this matter. However when I told them WHO the warranty company was, they rolled their eyes and chuckled. Seems this is NOT the 1st time they have had to deal with these people. I guarantee you this, they will NEVER get another red cent from me. I have contacted my bank and STOPPED all transactions to them. My auto insurance company ( American Family ) is going to reimburse me for the towing on Tuesday after Memorial day. The rest...I'm out of luck...for now. I will be contacting them one last time tomorrow (May27th) for one last chance to make good on this claim. IF it is denied again, Katie Bar The Door. Any and ALL responses will be appreciated.

I have also had the misfortune to have bought one of these bogus warranties.  My situation is the same as described before me, only difference I filed a complaint with the BBB in 2/10, and had been corresponding through the BBB to try to resolve my situation.  After five months of responding to their legal department, Jennifer Shaw we were scheduled to go to arbitration, but just days before arbitration CDWS cancelled; so my case was closed with no resolution.  I too would like to be included in a class action law suit against them.  You can email me Tanbennett@ymail.com

i just checked the bbb rating. D-! they have 221 complaints against them in the last 36 months. the woman i spoke with said her name was jennifer and she would not give me a physical address. when i asked her what her job was ,she said she was an administrator. this is not true. when i looked on the bbb web site she is listed as jennifer shaw, legal supervisor. this "company" is just a bunch of crooks who cooked up a scam and duped a bunch of us into sending them money! lets keep the pressure up and get our money back!the bbb has taken their "accredited" status away as of 6/16/10. looks like the tide is turning in our favor.lets just keep bugging the bbb until they answer US! does the tactic sound familiar?

May I ask what the outcome of your problem was? I am about to take the same route you did. They just denied my legitimate claim based on something they say is in my warranty documentation, which is not.

    Sincerely,
    Scottye

I should have known there was a problem when I sent in my coupon for a free oil change and it was returend by the post office.  Now I'm ready to file a real claim and, just like everyone above, my dealer cannot reach anyone.  They need to be shut down so they can't rob anyone else.

Are you seeking action? Contact your states office of insurance commissioner. In California, and most recently in Washington State, CDWS and WAS have been served a cease and desist order, for operating without proper regulatory licenses. This means that a contract you have with them might be made voidable on your part, and recovery of all payments may be possible. A copy of the Washington order may be found here...
    http://www.insurance.wa.gov/oicfiles/orders/2010orders/10-0018.pdf

Also, some addresses may help you in your plight:

Attorney representing CDWS: Denis S. Kenny, Scherer Smith & Kenny, LLP, 140 Geary Street, Seventh Floor, San Francisco, CA. 94108

CDWS CEO: Robert L. Chapman, 3790 Sunday Court, Redding, CA. 96001
CDWS CFO: James C. Sletner, 15676 Old Stage Coach Road, Redding, CA. 96001
CDWS Inc.: PO Box 993520, Redding, CA. 96099

Our state agencies are here for us, and indeed by us. These are valuable resources that are at our disposal. Remember, justice delayed is justice denied.
