I dialed this number by accident trying to reach another company.  The gentleman who answered the phone immediately told me I was selected to receive a $500 grocery gift card.  He convinced me that it was free of charge with no obligation.  I gave him my work address and then he asked for a credit card to pay the $6.95 shipping and handling fee.  I told him I did not have one because I sure as hell wasn't going to give him my credit card!  He argued with me and was very rude and that was the end of the conversation.  THIS IS SCAM...DON'T FALL FOR IT!

I just banged into this group too!!! #@@#**!
I mis-dialed a US company's number, so the number called was either 800-982-4984 or 888-882-4984.

A very Indian accented man started babbling about the >>> $100 Walmart <<<  gift card. I asked pointedly, "What do I need to do for it?" First he said, not to worry, when we're done I can just "call back the number that I had originally dialed." What? CLUE here since my Q was not answered, and my hack radar was "warming up." I asked the question again and he of course lied and said nothing, only need to confirm zip and provide email address.

So asked what they'd do with the email address and he said just to send confirmation. Still not sure so I gave him some fake info but a real email address. THEN, yes, after info provided, was told I have to use a debit or credit card to pay the $5.xx shipping charge.

THERRRRRRRRE it is. So I asked for company name--Reward Hotline--and address. He only said ____garble____ Virginia and when asked to spell it he said, "VA"...duh, and then proceeded to misspell Charlotte. Lordy.

WHY DOESN'T WALMART DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!!?? If he had said gift card from a less known vendor..... <heavy sigh>.... Walmart can afford to pursue this!

PSS: And I guess the recommendation that their phone company question use of all these telephone numbers that so closely resemble actual US company tel numbers is...er...a pipe dream? They have to be requesting specific numbers...
