A lot of people are inquiring as to why RHC is a scam.  In my case, I joined in Cancun 5 years ago.  I was told that I had rent sure(sell back your unused points for cash).  2 years later we went to Ixtapa and were advised by RHC there that we did not have the rent sure option and in order to get it, we had to upgrade from our existing bronze level.  We negotiated and agreed to a 60,000 points per year contract when they threw in an extra 60,000 points with no fees and no fees for 2011 and 2012 for use of the rent sure program.  For our 2011 vacation, we tried to use the 60,000 points for our vacation and rent sure our alloted 60000 points for a refund.  For 4 months we tried to get this happen and the manager of RHC Ixtapa advised that there was an issue and that he would make good for us the following year.  We vacationed in Ixtapa in Feb 2011 and gave Mr Garcia(RHC manager) a copy of our 60,000 point coupon and signed the required rent sure requests.  MrGarcia swore on his mothers grave that all would be straightened out and that he would apply the refund of our rentsure money towards our maintenance fees and all inclusive fees for our 2012 vacation.  In August of 2011 I requested to book an ambassador suite.  Mr Garcia emailed back advising I had to pay the fees to use the 60,000 points and the rent sure fees.  I reminded him of our signed contract stating that there were no fees for this transaction and reminded him of his promise he had made to us in person 7 months earlier.  No response.  I phoned him on my dime and he once again stated that I had to pay the fees,  I asked him to look at the contract and follow through on his promise.  No reply for 6 weeks despite messages on his phone and emails.  Relatives of ours booked 2 weeks through westjet vacations so we were obliged to be there with them.  So the first week of December I foolishly consented to pay my maintenance fees and all inclusive fees so I could book.  Mr Garcia advised that I had to book on line.  I logged on to the website and they had advertised an ambassador suite for 31900 points, down from the usual 47000 points so I booked it.  Fast forward to our arrival at Park Royal Ixtapa.  We were given 2 studio rooms with a connecting door instead of the ambassador.  I complained to Mr Garcia and because we were VIP members, he would get it straightened out by the next day.  5 days pass and no sign of Mr Garcia.  Finally we meet with him 6 days after our arrival.  When I asked about our room, his reply was, you are not the only member who wants an ambassador.  When I asked him why he did not book our room when we requested it in August he replied it was because we refused to pay the rent sure fees and fees associated with the 60000 points coupon.  I asked if he looked at our contract as I requested he replied there is no such thing as no fees.  I asked him about his promise that he made a year ago and all I got was a blank stare.  I advised him to pull the contract out and then come and see me.  About an hour later he had my points balance on his computer and wanted to confirm how many unused points I had.  I immediately saw that I was charged the full 47000 points for the ambassador instead of the advertised(and confirmed)31900 points.  Mr Garcia avoided me completely for the rest of our vacation and I have still not heard a thing from RHC.  I feel that they broke the terms of the contract and am now in the process of have this contract terminated.  By the way, their promise that the vacation club will save you money, let me point this out.  Our relatives booked 2 weeks at the Park Royal Ixtapa all inclusive including flight for $3750 per couple.  My all inclusive fees, maintenance fees and flight totalled $4210 for my wife and I and that does not include the money I paid for the 47000 points!!  So for those of you who ask if it is a scam, I hope this helps.

You joined 2005...did you have good experiences until that day. We recently purchased and I have indubatle second thoughts, knowing I dont have time to actually fight this OUT...Iam searching for a silver lining. We brought less than two weeks ago,and I had second thoughts immediatly because we are a new family" we saw 30 years as a PLUS....But if we can never book or the axcomadations are continually mediocre I will find the time to secure a way out.

actually I joined in 2007.  The staff at the hotel are fantastic.  It's the RHC program that we have issues with.  In our case, they broke the terms of the contract so we have a legitimate out(fingers crossed).  What level of membership did you purchase?

Why RHC is a scam? For many reasons. All the little details put together. RHC gives us 'lack of information', not propriate servíce...

RHC doenst even set f.e. the interest rates (13,9-15,9% in contract) according to 'their' words. In my case its FNTC which does (according to 'RHC's' words). And RHC is only a company registered in Europe as far as Im considered. Its always about other companies in Caribbean... so called owners of RHC trademark or agents/travel agencies of RHC, but its a company as well at least in Europe.

Sometimes contracts consist false information: address, company..  like mine, but still RHC keep saying theres nothing wrong with the contract.

Here's why it's a scam... we signed then decided to cancel once we finally were freed to do our own research. And, by the way, 90-minute presentation? Try 3 hours.

Anyway, when we asked to cancel, they tried to charge us $1200 for a registration fee. Um, what? Eventually, the sales rep waived the registration fee, but said we had to pay $110... $70 for a voucher which we did us, which makes sense, and then $40 for a voucher that one of their people used (ridiculous). Basically, they gave us $100 toward a local fish fry, split into two vouchers $60 for us and $40 for one of their guys to drive us there and eat with us. The driver got the wrong night and used the voucher without us.

Anyway, whatever, we said we'd pay for his stupid meal even though we weren't even there. We get home and the Royal Holiday Club calls to welcome us to the club. Um... we canceled? They had no idea. I'm sure you can guess what came next: they are going to charge us the $1200 registration fee. When we explained that we had that waived, she said that it's in our contract. When we explained that we drew up our own contract, which their sales rep signed, she said that's not a real contract. Um, why not??? So we asked to have the sales rep conferenced in on the call while we were on the phone, and the woman told us, do you really think the sales rep is going to admit to headquarters that she waived the fee? So we say, are you saying she's going to lie?

Basically, we are still in the middle of all this. But, one thing's for sure: RHC completely ruined our vacation as we were dealing with them more than half the time, and they are being ridiculous now. We have a signed piece of paper waiving the fee, so why are we still fighting this? Shameless.

Oh and they are also trying to charge us for a bunch of other vouchers they gave us - which we RETURNED without using!

I can't tell you how many times the rep told us, "you're straight, mon, you're straight, mon." yeah right. Liars and scammers.

My family purchased a contract on June 2012. With the persuasive talk of the rep we signed in the contract. While we're at the hotel we read the contract again and went to the internet to see the good and bad review. Almost 90% of the review we're bad. So I went to the hotel receptionist asked her if the company is a legitimate. She said it is legitimate. After the review we decided the contract with a writen cancelation letter signed by the manager in Bahamas. The rep I signed in was so ncie and was able to understand the reason for the cancellation. When we got back home I got the bill from my credit card that I charged for paying the fees. So I called my credit company and filled a dispute since the contract was cancelled before the grace period expires that is 5 days after signing. A rep. from the company called me home introducing that she's our contact person. I told her that we cancelled the contract and sent her a copy of the cancellation letter. My credit card company was able to resolve the dispute and was able to cancel the contract after 60 days. During this period of time I always get a bill for my monthly dues. I have to communicate with them everytime I get one and send them a copy of the cancellation letter. Piece advcice ALWAYS HAVE ALL DETAILS OF THE COMMUNICATION AND A COPY OF ALL TRANSACTION ISSUES. Good Luck...

I bought my membership to Royal Holiday at the Wyndham Nassau Bahamas a few years ago.  I paid off the membership in full, When on 2 vacations since then using royal holiday credits.  The places i stay at are beautiful, service was great.  However, it was not cheaper using club credit vs booking package online.  I want to cancel my membership because i don't want to pay yearly maintenance fee anymore.  I was told that the membership can't be cancel.  I did not ask for a refund, willing to take a lost of more than 5000 dollars and still not be able to cancel a service that i am no longer wish to use...it is the most ridiculous thing that ever happen to me...
