scam!

I recently received a phone call from 1-888-279-9221 and also 1-877-855-4547 that told me I had won a $1000 online shopping spree. All I had to do was answer a few questions; little did I know the questions were about my bank account information. Beware, everyone, if you get a phone call from this number(s). It is a scam. After doing some research on the company, I discovered that they use your bank account information to rob you. The report I read was written by a woman who had the same experience with this company. She was told that she would receive magazines in the mail. She received no magazines but money was still withdrawn from her account.
For those that get a phone call from this number, DO NOT answer.

Then they cram through the order and charges as if the victim had actually agreed to them. They might even create a doctored recording editing their "aggreement" to receive information" into a different script of whatever terms they are cramming.
Attorney General fraud complaints have generally been effective against magazine subscription scammers, since they usually don't want closer scrutiny. Their game is intimidating naive victims, not fighting prosecution in court.
The first move with this scam is getting your foot in the door, and there are already a variety of tactics they are reported to use for that. Claiming "your friend John" recommended you "for a great deal" would serve the same purpose.
1) You are a minor, and have no legal power to agree to this alleged "contract". As a "matter of public policy" any such contract is therefore void. (They even claim they don't sign up minors, so they know it's illegal.)
2) They set out to defraud you, deliberately failing to disclose the terms they now claim were agreed to. Failing to disclose such "terms" in their offer, they nonetheless took money out of your account that you never authorized, which is theft.
3) Even though they took your money, they have delivered NOTHING. That is fraud.
4) They are sending you invoices (demands for payment) for merchandise at terms you never agreed to. That is mail fraud.
Contact your state Attorney General for assistance. They are reported to back off immediately once they know a state Attorney General is interested. In addition, file a complaint with FTC, and file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.
File complaints with FTC outlining what they promised vs. what they tried to take, and stop worrying.
There are no indications they have used their deceptive telemarketing "recordings" in any court. They are probably too well known to get away with conning a judge. There aren't even any complaints indicating they have passed bogus "accounts" off to any "debt collector". They are just looking for suckers to bully with implied threats.
If they try again, file complaints with FTC, and your state Attorney General.
i do not recomend them at all!! even if it is a real company they service is crapy!!
You only record what you want to use as threatning.
Get ready R America Hell is coming..
