Complaints against the number report other telemarketing calls selling security systems, but use of several different names.  https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-502-265-5574

Most likely this is some third party telemarketer paid to generate leads.

Harassing telemarketing is often associated with "bait-and-switch" hard sell sales practices.  The telemarketer can make whatever attractive promises they think will get a salesman in the door, and the salesman can similarly make his own promises, all of which mean nothing once the contract is signed.

You already know the game, but keep in mind that if they are doing this to you, they are also doing it to everyone else they call, so they are probably racking up complaints somewhere, either your local DA's Consumer Protection unit for deceptive marketing, or possibly state licensing agencies.

Here are two such franchised dealers for GE Security:
    http://www.gehomealarmsystems.com
    http://homesecurity.protectamerica.com

It appears that the "GE Security" tradename has been sold off to United Technologies
    http://www.gesecurity.com/

So you may want to send a complaint directly to United Technologies executive offices, indicating that your are filing telemarketing harassment, obscene calling, and Do Not Call complaints against their local franchisee.  Not exactly the image they want attached to their brand.
    http://www.utc.com/Home

In addition, if they are "selling" security services in your area, they are probably acting as agent for some alarm franchise operating locally that would probably be required to be licensed by your state.

Contact your state Attorney General to find out the state licensing agency, and start filing harassment complaints with their state licensing agency.

Also file harassment and obcene call complaints with your phone company, for the record.

I spoke to a lawyer at United Technologies Fire & Security about this issue.  UTC insists that they have not organized this campaign, and they believe that the conditions they have imposed on their authorized distributors mean that its not a distributor.

They are also not happy about it and are trying to determine who is behind these calls.  But they cannot compel phone companies to determine who is really making them - that can only be done with a court order, and so far, no law enforcement agency has been interested enough to pursue the matter to the point of getting a court order.

I've tried contacting a few politicians to see if they could put pressure on law enforcement.  My efforts resulted in a content-free form letter response.

Sounds like crocodile tears to me.  UTC is still making money off this telemarketing.  If they're not willing to get involved in stopping the telemarketing but still willing to sell systems, then it is only fair that their brand be destroyed.  Screw UTC and the horse they rode in on.

I found them.  Free alarms - telemarketers office, 401-434-4585 VMS Alarms.  While I was at it I found the "free" cruise offer and who's responsible at www.thecaribbeancruisescam.com
      They won't stop calling!

I don't think they are planning to sell an alarm system at all. When I reminded them it's illegal to use a recording to solicit in my state he said he could take me off the list but would need my CREDIT CARD number in order to do so. There's no product, just a phishing operation.

So does this mean you're _thinking_ about it...or you'd like to try it out? When would be the best time to contact you?

Actually, there's not much you can do about such calls. And the fact is, you can't legally make them stop calling you. One of the reasons we've set our cell phone to outgoing only is that you wouldn't believe how many cellular calls we were getting trying to sell us something! We'd turn the body thing on, only to see we'd received a dozen calls, none from people we knew. Ever since phone companies began recycling it's numbers, it's been a simple matter to do random crank calls.

Call or write your congressmen and demand the creation, maintenance and enforcement of a strict DO NOT CALL list. Tell them you want a list that's simple and straightforward...if a number's on the list, it's not to be cold called. And if it is, the offending party will face a stiff fine, the funds collected to be used to finance the list and enforcement.

Nothing else will work. Those companies have a first amendment right to make cold calls, but you have the right to not be called.

Actually there already is a national DO NOT CALL registry with the Federal Trade Commission.  Register your phones, wait 30 days and then start reporting anyone who calls you.  Its working for me.  Link:  https://www.donotcall.gov/     Heh don't forget to have fun with the microsoft repair scammers, then report them.   Lead them on like you know nothing about computers, but DON'T do anything they say.   It also works to tell them you have no computer

Turn the tables on them.  Keep them on the line as long as possible.  All the time they waste talking to you is time they aren't bothering  anyone else.  Think of it as providing a public service.

They aren't as bad as Cardholder Services but they are getting there.   I did what you did B.B.  Told them my security system is lots of guns and I just shoot people who enter my home.  The next time they call I'm going to answer the phone by having an orgasm and tell them to hold on as I finish and I'll be right with them and ask them what they are doing for dinner tonight.

I got another recorded telemarketer call from Security Systems offering a "free" GE home security system.  This is the second one this week.  It also gives you the option to press 1 to speak to a representative or 2 to discontinue any more calls.  The first call this week, July 3rd I pressed 2 and hoped to be taken off their list.  Nope, just got another one this morning 9:10 AM July 6th.  This time I pressed 1 for the operator and told her we are on the do-not-call registry and they would be reported.  The only problem is the registry complaint form asks for the phone number of who called, and I don't have caller ID on my phone.  Over the years I have been called several times by this or similar companies all offering a GE security system.  btw, I have 2 large German Shepherd dogs in our home, and they bark at anything or anyone who even drives down the street, let alone getting near the house.

Second this week? Lucky you I get 2 a day sometimes and at least 1 per day. I have a whistle that i blow as hard as I can. F*** the [***] that hang up if you try to get them to help you get off the automated calling machine. The FTC complaint line is useless since the numbers keep changing and /or the cell numbers get disconnected.

Some rude guy that finally identified himself as Jason.  I asked the nature of his call 3 times and he kept asking for the head of the household.  I said I am and I would like my number added to the do not call list.  He actually told me NO and it turned into an argument.   I'll never buy anything associated with GE Home Security.....EVER!  Get a grip on your telemarketers!

They all say their name is Jason, I get em' all the time too - different voices... same name. certainly demonstrates a conciseness of guilt. This company has set the bar for cell phone harassment, the company that contracted them to do their cold calling has got to know how bad they are and simply does not care!

When was the last time anyone heard of the BBB actually pursuing one of these companies and actually shutting them down?

Adding your phone number to the Do Not Call Registry (888-382-1222) will at least give you a leg up should the BBB ever decide to pursue them.

I get them from Jason too for GE Home Security and for Honeywell security ,   oh and then there's Rachel too for both of them.  The do not call list doesn't mean a thing to these people and I wonder  how they make money.   I drag them out when I have the time for ten minutes or so then say someones at the front door and I'll be right back,   then I just sit there until they hang up.

I received two calls this week, 8/8 and 8/9, but two different people.  One was a woman with a very heavy accent and the other was from a snarky guy who, when I told him to stop calling me, asked me why I wasn't interested.  I just hung up.  The ones who have called me are doing something to mask their realy phone number.  In my case, the call came from 301-555-1212 which is an information line.  Somebody is behind these but I doubt there's no way to find who it is.  Just like Rachael!
