I just got off the phone with these jerks. This time, an actual person was on the line. It's usually just the robo. I told him that I'd asked to be taken off the list numerous times, and again, take me off your list. He said he would if I'd "just answer one question". Well, I didn't give him time to ask, I just started yelling at him, yelling about contacting the FCC, you name it. We mysteriously got disconnected.  I assume he'll call back later, when he regains his hearing.

    >>>> The ONLY way to give it BACK at these marketers is to ….. be very nice to them, tell them you are very interested, but ask to hold while you get your husband or wife to talk. Then put down the phone and make THEM wait. They will have to decide how long to wait before hanging up.
… I get satisfaction doing this to them !

Have had almost daily calls to have a sign posted in my yard.  Have tried many times to get my name taken off calling list.  No luck so far.  Have looked up numbers on reverse directory, and have called these numbers, to no avail.  Calls come from Detroit, or Buford Georgia, etc. etc.   Last number that called came from Buford and was 678 804 4024.  Other numbers have been (Detroit) 313 355 5254.  .

I get calls from 1-405-418-6197 every morning. They won't quit calling me, no matter what I do. Today, I called the number back and left a message asking them to take me off their list. When the phone answered it was a robot something like "The google subscriber you have contacted is not currently available." Is there not something that can be done about this harassment?

The “home security” scammers are harder to nail down than the “Rachel, from card services” scum.
Some older posts with info from 800Notes.

“Most of these calls are from authorized dealers of one of the major alarm system companies (ADT, Monitronics, Vivint, etc.). These companies perform "free" installations of security systems conditioned upon signing an extended monitoring contract with the alarm system company. The dealer is then compensated for the sale by the alarm company.
These "authorized dealers" are permitted and encouraged to advertise aggressively under the alarm company's banner, and are notoriously abusive telemarketers.
They are careful not to reveal the company's true identity until after you have been "qualified" as a sales lead, if ever. Properly prosecuting them requires answering the call and "feigning interest" long enough to get a live representative on the line and convincing that person to admit who they work for. Sometimes it is necessary to go as far as making an installation appointment and photographing the installer and his or her documentation.”
“You should see the look on their faces when I pull out my camera after first getting their biz card and contract - often appointments are the only way to find out who actually called or on whose behalf a call was made. An ADT dealer junk faxed my former office - got a lead generator's # from the salesman - it seemed as if there were 3-4 layers to get through to find out who actually sent the fax. Monitronics has known for years, as has Dish Network, that many of their sales come from illegal telemarketing - it will be good to see some more published appellate decisions on this topic.”

Today I pressed 1 again to speak to someone. Kept the young man on the line for a few minutes.
Then I told him "Thank you for taking the time to speak with me.It gave us enough time to record your voice and trace your location. We will be in touch shortly. "
Then I hung up on them.
Sometimes best defense is offense. Waste their time and mess with their minds. Maybe if we play their games and waste enough of their valuable time they will realize this crap they pull is not profitable.

    3/5 - (678)804-4024    Buford, GA (2 calls; one had a voice mail)
    3/6 - (269) 804-3326   Hastings, MI (2 calls)
    3/6 - (213) 330-8278   Los Angeles, CA (4 calls; one had a voice mail)
    3/8 - (718) 737-7160   New York, NY
    3/11 - (425) 390-8920 Renton, WA (2 calls; one had a voice mail)
3/12 - (406) 577-1215 Bozeman, MT (actual live person; I said I had received 11 calls in past week; he told me
that it wasn't from his company; told him BS and hung up)
    3/13 - (317) 759-7561 Indiana (call left a voice mail)

**ALL WERE FOR GE HOME SECURITY SYSTEMS. SAME BS, JUST ALL COMING FROM DIFFERENT NUMBERS. EVEN IF YOU DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE, THEY LEAVE VM.

WHAT GOOD IS THE DNC LIST IF YOU CANNOT GET THESE PEOPLE TO STOP? BEEN ON THAT LIST SINCE 2009 AND THIS AGGRESSIVE HARRASSMENT, HAS JUST GOTTEN WORSE IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.

"GE Security Solutions" scum has a FaceBook page, but you have to join as a member to post something. Otherwise, for what good it does, the FTC and FCC also have FB pages. At least more Consumers can read complaints about these bottom feeder criminals.

A live person instead of a recording! "Chelsea" from Home Protection wanted to know if I wanted a GE home protection system if I would be willing to have them put up a small sign in my yard. I asked if her company was in New York (due to the telephone number on Call ID) She said she was calling from Brentwood TN and the company was "The Home Protection" I asked her how long the company had been in business and she said she was not allowed to answer any personal questions. I told her I had not asked her age or any other personal question, then I asked again, how long the company had been in business. She hung up.

These are scam  artists. They are in direct violation of federal laws. And they're "spoofing" call ID. number they called from today is 718-737-7160 (a number provided by Time Warner Cable in NYC).

I, too, get these calls almost daily.   I've turned it into a source of entertainment though, rather than anger.  Every time they call, I press one, get someone on the line, and then start giving them phony names, like Harrison (Harry) balczak (ballsack).   I see how long I can keep giving them ridiculous info before they get mad and hang up.   It's like a reverse phony phone call.   I love it.   Now I look forward to their calls.

I'm getting up to 4 calls PER DAY from these jerks. I'm at the end of my rope. I've reported them, begged them to stop, tried everything I know and they persist. They are coming from too many different numbers to block them all. Why won't the Do Not Call laws do something to stop this. Increase the fines if they can't support what it costs to prosecute them. This and the Card Services calls are unbelievable. I'm thinking of getting rid of the phone it's so bad. I get at least 20 calls a week from the two combined.

Call 'em back and press "0" while it sounds like their phone is ringing. The ringing is actually their "answering machine" message! wait for an answer, or I found that by pressing 1015# works. See my post. I think they all use the same ploy. You can call them at all hours and give them a taste of their own medicine. Post the numbers that call you and I'll give 'em a few calls myself. See my post. Cheers!

Like the rest of you, I loath telemarketers.  However, I may perhaps go a step further than most.  If I receive too many calls, I set up an appointment.  That way I can waste a significant amount of their time and I can have the satisfaction of swearing at them in person while they can't hang up.

I just received 10 or 12 calls from GE Security within the last week.  Each time it was a Seattle area code. On one occasion, I tried calling the listed number and got a recorded message that to be removed from their list I must provide both my number and the number that was calling me (despite the fact that I had just dialed that number).  Obviously I didn't believe anything at that point and hung up.

Today, I was fed up and I listened to their pitch and pretended to agree.  I was then told that I would receive a call back from someone to set up the appointment.  A few minutes later, I received a call from a "Steve" who wanted more info and finally said that I would receive a third call from the actual installer to establish an actual time.  On the third call, they said that I sounded a bit annoyed and perhaps I didn't really want their service (amazingly intuitive for a scumbag).  Anyway, I captured both the second and the third numbers and discovered that I could call those numbers and annoy them.  After I called and swore at them (and they hung up) about 12 or 15 times, "Steve" swore that I would never hear from them again.

If anyone would like those numbers, the first solicitations came from (206) 445-6351.  As I said, it is pointless to call that number.  However, the second and third numbers were from a Connecticut area code and were (203) 891-7887 and (203) 535-0514.  I immediately rang through on both of those numbers and discovered that sleazy telemarketers are somehow offended when others call them.  Perhaps you would like to also annoy them.

I get calls from these GE bozos every couple of weeks. A caller id number comes up 312-219-8246. If you call this number it will "ring" 10 times and you will hear a message about nobody available - BUT... If you press "0" while the phone is "ringing," you will get a prompt. I pressed 1015# and got someone answering "Promotions." Aha! a fake phone ringing sound as a phone system (or probably just an answering machine) prompt. After pressing "0," if you wait, "Promotions" will pick up also. Hmmm... 3:00 am, Pay-as-you-go cell... Have fun! I'm testing this fake ring ploy on some other numbers. Enjoy!
