On Feb 13, 2008 I was charged on my Visa Credit Card $29.95 and the telephone number is 888-999-0564 CT. I did not authorize this and I am therefore filing a complainst against them as a Scam.

Dispute all fraudulent charges immediately with your bank, and have them close that account to prevent future fraudulent charges.  Follow up by sending your dispute IN WRITING, to preserve your dispute rights under FCBA (for credit cards), or Reg. E (for checking accounts).

Do not use debit or check cards, and cancel any that you have, as fraudulent activity drains money directly from your bank account, with consequences in bounced checks and fees.  Never authorize "phone checks", or recurring charges directly to your bank account.  Use only ATM cards requiring PINs at your own bank's ATM machines.  Use only credit cards for retail or on-line purchases, and consider using the one-time or limited payment methods outlined thru the link below.  Restrict use of checks to payments of accounts with trusted businesses (i.e.: rent, mortgage, utilities, etc.).

I too had a charge of $14.95 on my bank account.  I found it was from a purchase of discount restaurant coupons at Restaurants.com.  Once I got the full telephone number (which did not appear on my bank statement) I was able to call and get the membership cancelled and they agreed to credit the charge.

How did you get the shopping essentials membership cancelled? I was tricked into this on the classmates.com website through a survey and a charge showed up on my account for $19.95. I have no idea how to contact the company because I don't have any info on them. I have sent an email to classmates.com as well. Please let me know how you were able to cancel. THanks.

I just found this $14.95 charge on my account too, tracked it down to restaurants.com.  I will keep an eye on my card to see if they refund me as they promised.  I hope it doesn't come down to me having to cancel my card.

If you called "Ap9*pmidentity.com-v 888-840-6301" to cancel "your" account, dail as if you are interested. Strangly enough, the rep didnt care that I was complaining. As if they knew that they were the bad guys.

I tried doing the same thing with "Ap9*yoursavingsclub-v 877-820-7107 Ct $1" but there was no option for if you are intereted.

I used Vist Prints! then this $14.95 Charge started coming in from AP9*SHOPPINGESSENTIA on my visa I called the 1888-999-0564. Was placed on hold for 20 min. Then the rudest person in the world got on the phone Employee #49497 I told her to cancel my account and I was disputing all charges she said she would. Low and be hold I look at my account today and theres another charge for $14.95. So now I have written my bank and filed a dispute with them! I never authorized a membership with these people. dishonest company. FYI if you oder online like I do make sure you read all the oder page before you commit to buy I guess that how they get you fine print at the bottom. NEVER AGAIN!

Found out how this charge happened.  Travelocity has a survey you can take at the end that will give you $10.00 off your ticket purchase if you participate.  The catch is that you are signed up for Shopping Essentials for a 30 day trial which then gets charged to you if you do not cancel.  This is a scam and Travelocity should discontinue using it.  My vote is for Expedia next time.

I discovered the same problem after signing up at Classmates.  I googled Shopping Essentials and then sent a terse email w/ the subject line "cancel membership" and described how I only authorized payment for a Classmates account.  I heard back in two days, promising my account would be credited in two business days and it has been.

I also emailed Classmates but they have yet to respond.

It's always best to get a new card, it's a pain, but it's easier than wondering what else these people are going to charge.

I too was scammed by these people. I bought a gift certificate from Restarant.com. and somehow they got my info. I have a phone number for you people 877-442-5773. I talked to someone Abraham #10345 and he stated that I signed up for some offer. Which I did not. They stole only $30.00 in all from me, but watch out. Never use that site. If you call that 888-999-0564 you really get nothing. I also found there website naturaly no address to submit a complaint. I am still trying to find a way to report to BBB.
