Rogers duplicitous customer service

About three months ago, I called Rogers customer service to cancel my cellular services. I was transfered to the customer relations department where I was offered as incentive to stay with Rogers three months unlimited calling. They didn't mention anything else besides that. Sounded good so I went for it. Little did I know that Rogers had cunningly signed me up on a three year contract!!!!!

You can't imagine how enraged I was when I found out. The conniving, scheming and duplicitousness of it all just convinced me I had to get out....I was done with Rogers and no amount of incentives was going to change my mind. I was in for a mega-ton shock when I called to cancel my services. Apparently I would have to pay 400 dollars to cancel...and you know why....because I was on that three year contract.

Let me clarify a few things. About a year and a half ago, I bought my nokia 6682 smartphone full price on no contract. I payed my bills faithfully every single month. I was a free woman, with no contracts. So why in the world would I want to shackle myself to Rogers on a three year contract!!!! Why didn't customer relations mention that the three months unlimited calling entailled a three year contract? Do you see the utter deceptiveness of this all?

About three days ago I called Rogers to sort this all out and thankfully my calling plan was reverted back to what it used to be. But to be honest with you, I'm so angry and tired, that as soon as my account is officially back to a month to month plan, I'm going to get the hell out of Rogers.

Rogers needs to change their policies. Become transparent will all their customers.

    My wife had a rogers 3 year contract. Rogers advertises best coverage in Canada. Just after she signed on with them we went on vacation to Newfoundland. In the four weeks we were there we only had service once when we were near St.Johns. Apparently this is the only area in all of Newfoundland that has rogers service. A month before the contract was to expire my wife phoned rogers to inform them that we would not be renewing She was told that she could only cancel on the day the contract ended (14 Mar. 11) She phoned on that date and was told that she had to give 30 days notice to cancel.At that time she essentially told them to shove it. Rogers are still sending bills and we are tearing them up. This is a slimeball corporation that should be put out of business.

    I was told that a rogers supervisor will contact me in 72 hrs to resolve my problem. However no one called me for 6 days, so when I called them, they said that they tried to call me twice and left messages for me. Funny thing is that I dont have voice mail and that's in their log in black and white. All always lie.

    I signed up for a north american plan, supposedly everything covered, prepayed 500 of what should be a 250 monthly bill and have payed another 250 since.  First problem was when i got to the states the phone was locked, i distinctly had this conversation before leaving the store. Took 3 phone calls and 6-8 people to solve my problem. Now last thursday sitting in mississippi i wake up and my phone is suspended, so i call to find out wtf??? My credit limit gets upped after going threw 4 departments at least twice each so 8 people and no answer as to what i have done to go over the limit. Wak up friday with the phone suspended AGAIN!! Wtf is going on??? I call in get the same run around of probably 20 peope who can all tell me its "partial charges" when i ask what a "partial charge" is i am told "we can't see that until it is billed" if you cant tell me what i'm being billed for you really expect me to pay it???? I have since both figured out and been told its for u.s. text messaging, which they just started offering a month to month add on, if you offer everything else u.s.wouldnt that be logical to have?

    Well, my blackberry curve 8520 wasn't working. I am positive an electrical surge is responsible.   I went to the Rogers store to send it for repairs.  Four weeks later, I am told my phone is dead and these are my option.  As the warranty expired in March this year I would get a refurbished phone.  Now, if I wanted to buy a phone outright it would lik $500.00 or more.  Kicker is to cancel my services would cost me $400.00 because I have 2 years left on my plan.  No [***] sherlock, now what am I supposed to do without a phone!!  Then of course they offered me an upgrade to a new blackberry bold of course there was like a $35 fee for this and $280 to upgrade my plan.   No good options for me as I am a single Mother.  I have had nothing but problems with Rogers since day one with my mobile services.   Of course all my other services are with Rogers and I tried threatening to leave but they said oh that will cost you this and that.   They totally have people screwed!  I will never ever deal with Rogers again after my plan is done.  Oh, not that there is much choice as Bell is just as bad.   I am so frustrated!

    I just finished talking to a Rogers customer agent about a 3rd party charge to my account for a mobile messenger 34788 Your lovers name. When I phoned they told me I would have to get in touch with these people to find out how they got my information. I would guess it would be how they got my cell number. I said why should I have to it wasn't they who were trying to collect the money, it was Rogers and my cell was through Rogers.
    I never asked Rogers for messaging in fact I called them once before and complained about a charge before and I was assured this would never happen again. I also stated the first time that I did not want messaging on my phone. I was told that Rogers would not send any messages to my cell. Rogers uncaring attitude has now cost them a long time customer. If you have shares of Rogers I would be selling them now as Rogers will be loosing more customers. Myself and my wife are the only people who use this phone, I am 63 years old and she is 60 I know my lovers name she has been with me for years Mr. Nadir Mohamed ( CEO of Rogers wireless) I do not need someone I do not know telling me. I was told by your customer agent that if I were to come to your office that you would not have the time to meet with me to solve my complaint. With being told that you leave me no choice but to discontinue a long and satisfying relationship with your uncaring company.

    I am irritated with Rogers as well... we should contact the news/media and expose Rogers' scams... this will decline their business... Is anyone irritated enough to organize this???

    just don´t pay. cell phone billings are not a big issue with credit ratings, if thats a worry for you- they KNOW that the phone companies are [***] bags, so don´t give it another thought just don´t pay. When they call for payment just keep telling them you will make a partial payment in 2 weeks for as long as they will accept it and when they say youĺl be cut off tell them you´ll pay in full in 2 weeks for as long as they will let you say that until they cut you off! screw them- fight Rogers lies with lies!

    I am with you, just don't pay,if we don't pay they will come down automatically.so no one will pay,we don't have any consumer protection right only they listen to big Communication companies. we are not small we need big numbers so everybody together make one unity & don't pay to them we will se how this co.can run now I am asking who is with me ?post this type of slogan on facebook ,"REVOLUTION WILL START NOW"

    Rogers pulled the same trick with me said they signed me up for a 3 year contract over the phone. I had to switch to bell because I had no service at the lake. their rep Chris called me a liar because according to there chart there was service.which there is not Any ways they ripped me off for 400 dollars and want 400 each too cancel my other phones.i couldn't beleive how rude their customer loyalty department is.They are CROOKS

    I think Rogers has the worst costumer service  they suck.I think id rather go with fido then I would go with Rogers...I would NOT advise anyone to go with them.

    Prolly because you did not pay your bills.. Or you used someone else credit card to pay your bill in one of your hotels.

    I contacted customer service a week before my cancelation and ask how much it would cost to cancel my contract that day. The agent told me that it would be $20 penalty. Then I went ahead and cancel my contract on the 16th of September. Today I receive a letter from roger charging me a month of service fee including all the extra options I had included in my monthly bill plus a $100 of early cancelation fee, a total of $172. I contacted customer service and they said that I should have read the contract statement that this information is included in there. But Why? Why? Why did the agent not tell me these hidden costs? Why did she tell me that it would only cost $20? How did she come up with the amount $20? I don’t know my contract inside and out that’s why I called, and your agent gave me false information. I only have one month left on my contract why would rogers even consider charging me $172? I feel very angry. I been a customer for 3 years with two different numbers and rogers treats me like dirt!
