Rogers duplicitous customer service

About three months ago, I called Rogers customer service to cancel my cellular services. I was transfered to the customer relations department where I was offered as incentive to stay with Rogers three months unlimited calling. They didn't mention anything else besides that. Sounded good so I went for it. Little did I know that Rogers had cunningly signed me up on a three year contract!!!!!

You can't imagine how enraged I was when I found out. The conniving, scheming and duplicitousness of it all just convinced me I had to get out....I was done with Rogers and no amount of incentives was going to change my mind. I was in for a mega-ton shock when I called to cancel my services. Apparently I would have to pay 400 dollars to cancel...and you know why....because I was on that three year contract.

Let me clarify a few things. About a year and a half ago, I bought my nokia 6682 smartphone full price on no contract. I payed my bills faithfully every single month. I was a free woman, with no contracts. So why in the world would I want to shackle myself to Rogers on a three year contract!!!! Why didn't customer relations mention that the three months unlimited calling entailled a three year contract? Do you see the utter deceptiveness of this all?

About three days ago I called Rogers to sort this all out and thankfully my calling plan was reverted back to what it used to be. But to be honest with you, I'm so angry and tired, that as soon as my account is officially back to a month to month plan, I'm going to get the hell out of Rogers.

Rogers needs to change their policies. Become transparent will all their customers.

On August 10/14 we were heading for the US my son suggested we put roaming on our phone, so we stopped at our local shopping center in Peterborough and went to the Rogers store.  There was one attendant on duty and no one else in the store.  I asked him if we could put roaming on our phone and he abruptly said I can't do it!  You have to do it yourself.  Not being too familiar with present technology, I said well how do you do that!!  He said phone rogers.  I said how much, he said $40.00 I said WHAT!! Then he said there is one for $20.00.  He was rude and not helpful, it would have been nice if he had said I can help you do that, or I can do it for you, instead he said, We are not here to do that we are only here to sell phones and programs. So I left the store and went into the mall and dialed Rogers and did manage to have the roaming put on for$20.00 but that is not the end of the story.  I wear a hearing aid and need to take it out when I am using my cell phone, I was a bit frustrated with his rudeness and took my hearing aid out and put it on my lap.  We then left for our trip, 50 miles out of Peterborough I realized I did not have my hearing aid and knew exactly where it was in the Lansdowne mall out side of the Rogers store. We turned around and went back and a miracle was made it was still on the floor, thus saving my self $2000.00 This would never have happened if the clerk in the Rogers store had been the least bit polite.  If Rogers can't train their staff to be helpful and polite, I think it will be a change of servers for me.

I have read the many complaints and I'm very sickened by all the deception by rogers... I have similar issues with Rogers.  Every time I make a arrangement to make payments on my bill and pay it as promised.. 2 days later I get text saying pay this amount or we cutting you off and I call and say hey I just paid and they say that's not gd enough yet it had been  what they agreed on.. No team players here one department over powers another it's a run around.. I wanted a paper bill sent to me showing every detail the wanted to charge me like 15.00 a page they are money grabbing nothing more I am stressed out beyond words there is so much more to this no energy left to list all the crap ...

Just to chime in here I've been with rogers for over 10 years. I just went through a similar incident . Long story short  was supposed to get new phones for free with no early hardware upgrade fee. Spent 2 hours on the phone dealing with customer service to get the deal. 2 months later and a $1000.00 bill and 12 hours on phone, they still charging me for upgrade and for the phones. Finally my wife phoned and talked to their loyalty dept. and within 20 minutes had  all credits applied. We basically told them and the end of our current contract were leaving rogers

Been a customer for 14 years and now paying $195.33 monthly for 3 services I had many run ins with Rogers like overbilling promising services that were not delivered giving a trial freebies then making them part of your monthly package with an hefty increase on bill, calling customers service getting one story but on the next bill even paid for a sport package in advance and never got the services delivered and given the run around like unplug the NextBox plug it back in check this channel that channel just to find out it was a non existing service in my area so when my next contract is up will cancel everything and start over again hopefully will get a better deal

I was trying to cancel my plan and call the numbers Rogers informed (1.855.381.7834). Waiting 40 min, representative replied he cannot cancel plan, he transfer me on the other waiting line and spend an hour. I have to hang off for my work. I believe this is the way how they keep customer.
