Outrageous cancellation fees and impossible to cancel

My husband and I joined LA Fitness and then we got him the Body of Change membership, which is their personal trainer thing. Well, he was given a new trainer every time and then, the last trainer of his got fired and no one ever called anc scheduled sessions for him.
Meanwhile they continued taking out $100 a month for the membership and the service they were not delivering. We even called and complained about the service, The customer service person said they will handle it and scheduled a session for us. When we showed up, nobody knew we were coming and there was no one to do the training session.
At the end they made us pay a $500 cancellation fee for over 6 months of undelivered service.
They are criminal and deliver none of what they promise. Please let everyone know - DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF !!!!

I accidentally clicked on the wrong town, so I was never going to visit the location where these persistent and pushy sales team called me from. They asked for my friend's name & subsequently joined me and this hottie in marriage. We were dating and lived 60 miles apart. That meant my records were lost until someone figured it out. I NEVER received a membership card or anything. Nothing was delivered to his home to the attention of his new "wife," for that matter.
But wouldn't you know ... every month, without fail, money was withdrawn from my account. They snagged over $300 by the time I abruptly smacked their greedy little hands. I read their rules & did not like the idea of giving them more money, since I never actually received a membership card or a receipt for these monthly withdrawls.
I had to cancel my credit card so LA Fitness could no longer tap into my account. I don't like doing that, as I heard that opening and closing credit card accounts too often can screw up your credit score. That was the only way, however.
LA FITNESS is evil!!!! YMCAs don't pull stunts like that? However, I'm guessing that hottie men with six-pack abs are probably less likely to join the Y. Is Bally's any better than the evil LA Fitness?
Have a nice day
I'm curious to know if cancelling your credit card worked in the long run. I just cancelled mine. They called me a LOT 2 weeks after my payment was due. Now they call me sparingly and occasionally send bills to my house.
I have now seen the light and understand that LA Fitness is a horrific gym and I plan to never ever sign up for a membership there ever again.
Did cancelling your credit card work to your advantage?
