My husband and I joined LA Fitness and then we got him the Body of Change membership, which is their personal trainer thing. Well, he was given a new trainer every time and then, the last trainer of his got fired and no one ever called anc scheduled sessions for him.

Meanwhile they continued taking out $100 a month for the membership and the service they were not delivering. We even called and complained about the service, The customer service person said they will handle it and scheduled a session for us. When we showed up, nobody knew we were coming and there was no one to do the training session.

At the end they made us pay a $500 cancellation fee for over 6 months of undelivered service.

They are criminal and deliver none of what they promise. Please let everyone know - DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF !!!!

I signed up for proresults and had buyer's remorse right away.  I sent a letter saying I did not want to be bound by the contract within the 3 day period that they give you (like it says to do in the contract).  I didn't send it certified mail, but got a certificate of mailing, which says that I mailed a letter to that address on a specific day.  Do you have any idea how long it takes for me to know if they cancelled it?  Can I bring in the certificate of mailing like you said about the certified mail?  With all the bad complaints, I'm so nervous that they will try to screw me over.

Also if you decide to mail out your cancellation form send it CERTIFIED! they will charge you still for the next month when you bring in your proof of certified mail the OM has to refund you back! and if anyone is interested in personal training their sessions go lowest to $26-28 a session! If they refuse to drop the rates its because they want to get more commission out of you!! That goes as well for signing up! Do not pay any initiation because thats how the sales counslers make their commission's

I just sent a message to Orlando G. at LA Fitness about cancelling my trainer.   I'll let everyone know the end result as soon as I get an answer.

For now, I'm keeping my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed in hopes of this being easily resolved.

I just received a confirmation that my membership has been cancelled.  However, it does state that my membership dues will still be charged until my contract is over. I can chose to pay 50% of the remaining balance if I want to opt out sooner.  It sucks... but that's what I'll have to do. I'd rather pay $300 than $600.

Orlando G. got this taken care of in 30 minutes!

We should have a national association against them so they don't rip off more people. We need people know that it is just a band of thieves.

...Now there's a young lady @ the Brandon, FL location who acts as a front desk manager named Jenny Ryan.

Miss Ryan has inappropriately smacked my rear end, followed me in the ladies room to stare at me through the mirror. placed herself within earshot's distance to listen in on conversations I have with fellow clients, and stood behind me just to stand there. She has also told another staff member not to speak to me. I'm being harassed by this woman and am not the only member who's been experiencing inappropriate behavior from her. She has admittedly had sexual relations with another staff member (manager) within only four hours of meeting him and is very sexually explicit in her "recruiting techniques". She has openly admitted to being a former Las Vegas *** and her "resume" looks more like a rap sheet. Various client talk among themselves about various things she's said and done concerning them, myself, and or others. She's completely unprofessional and this behavior needs to be stopped for the well being of the clients and miss Ryan. Thank You

    Wow, orlandog@lafitness.com works!

Got a response back in about 5 minutes.  I was exercising my 3 day right to cancel the Pro Results Personal Trainer contract, but was confused by the contract wording and nervous about making sure I did everything right.

Mr Gonzales cancelled my contract himself, and emailed a response and receipt.  Awesome!

But really, why they just don't make it cancelled by myself via the website is beyond me.  Beats bugging a probably very busy person.

I am a college student. I am about 15 pounds over weight and getting married in a few months so I decided to join LA fitness In January 2012. I went in, the employee showed me around the gym and it looked great. However my university also has a gym, just this gym was MUCH closer and convenient so I decided to join. SO they asked me my goals and when I wanted to lose this weight and I told them, so they told me about the personal training program. I was working full time and also a college student. I didn't know I could fit it into my schedule. I let the employee know that but he said the credits run over to the next month so I thought that was great! He persuaded me into it even though I couldnt afford it and I didn't have enough time for it. But i asked him, if I could do the 3 month membership, he said just do the 12 month, it's cheaper and if you want to change it later on, you can. So I did it. I joined. But 2 months in, I realized I am paying 412 dollars a month to go to a trainer for 30 minutes, 4 times a week and I went maybe 2 times since I joined. I decided to cancel it. I went to the operations manager and I told her my story, she said its too bad, your in a contract. She was very stubborn and unwilling to work with me. I gave her the letter to cancel, since the la fitness website said I can do that. Then I left. I cancelled my debit card but now I am getting phone calls from corporate to change my billing info. I havent answered any of the calls. I just emailed Orlando. Let's see what he can do.

THere is ONE person at LA fitness who will help.  She will set it all straight.  It took me a lot of searching and tearful phone calls for unfair overcharges, but I found the most helpful person in the WORLD.  Here is her name and number: Aylin Medina (phone (949) 255-7330).
As of March 2012 she worked there, and I swear to you she is the ONLY one at this company with a heart.  Don't call her while driving, like I did.  When she refunded me ALL of the wrongful payments they were deducting WITHOUT needing me to explain, I burst into tears of joy and almost crashed my car.  I had no idea how easy it would be once I reached her in comparison to the HORRIBLE costumer service reps when you call the regular line.  If you don't get her, leave a message or call her back throughout the day.  She is WONDERFUL and WILL HELP YOU get your money back!!!!

I just e-mailed Orlando. I hope he can take care of my problem. I signed up at LA Fitness in August of last year because my friend goes there and told me they have yoga classes and a pool and we could work out together. I signed up and while taking care of the paperwork the trainer told me to sign up for personal training its going to be $40 a month and I'll get in shape in no time. I signed up and he charged my credit card for around $200 and told me that's a start up fee. I didn't think anything of it until next month I got charged $120! I called LA fitness and spoke to him and he said that's what I signed up for! I am college student who has thousands of dollars in loans and part-time job. When I explained this to him he said he can't do anything about it. So I called the main number. Spoke to at least six representatives; each one was giving me a different response. I researched online that I have to sent in a letter. I wrote the letter with no response. This is going on for about 5 months now. I called again and they told me they didn't receive anything and I was being charged the amount for 5 months. This is a rip-off firm! I had to cancel my credit card for them not to charge me anymore and keep on getting phone calls from them. I hope he will take this taking care for me. I wouldn't recommend anyone this firm and I hope they will be shut down.

I have a personal trainer from this sad excuse for a fitness facility. I'm 5months into my 12month contract and I find out I have a serious spine injury. I bring in my doc's note and the manager mouth-breathed at me, stating: "so what?" "The only way out of your contract is to pay half of what u owe, $1000." Personal training is not about the client's well-being and fitness afterall, its about MONEY! I'm telling everyone I know! These chumps are unethical, greedy a$$*oles.

Hah, this gym disgusts me. I was 22 years old when I joined and it was my first(ONLY) time joining a gym in my life. The lady signing me up seemed innocent enough and nice, too, but she never told me about the $100 cancellation fee that would have to be payed up-front. In this day and age on minimum wage I would've NEVER joined if I'd known that little piece of information, but I signed the papers she passed to me and worked out for 2 months as well as tanned, but as time passed, things in my life chaned. I moved over an hour away and also got pregnant! Called to cancel but they wouldn't let me unless I payed $100 up-front, which like I said, not on minimum wage in this day and age. So it's now been about 8.5 months since I've stepped a foot in that gym and I've been charged for each and every month as well as late fees. My belly is absolutely huge and I'm trying to work a minimum wage job until my due date next month yet they're still charging me for the membership. This gym isn't concerned about your weight or fitness, all they're concerned about is the money in your pocket. Don't join this sickening gym.
