I had purchased a washing machine (6th Sensation)in Oct 2007 fromm an authorised dealer at Pondicherry. From day 1 this was giving problem of getting switch off frequently. After some time their service engineers told some gasket problem then they have changed the gasket. Again some drum problem which the had attended few months ago. Again drum problem and now they are telling that drum need to be changed just after the warranty is over. I am struggling for last one month but in Whirlpool no body is giving the correct issue. Even though complaint was booked absolutely no response. I have complaint no. with me with other documents.

    WHIRLPOOL WASHER CEMENT WEIGHT BREAKING
I bought my washer aug 2008 and not even a few months after purchased the cement weight had broken off inside! Replaced almost 1 1/2 months later spending tons of money on laundry mat fees. About 1 or 2 months after warranty was out I was having rumbling problems again they sent a guy out for free and he ignored what I said it was doing and focused on another problem it was having, then a few months after that what do ya know the cement weight that is inside the machine that weighs like 50-70lbs busted again out of warranty. They will not replace this washer but only fix the problem that this time has caused a lot of damage inside. We have cement dust all over the laundry room. Will not purchase a Whirlpool ever again nothing but problems and this is ridiculous that it won't be replaced. Going to file any complaint I can this is not right, we bought a washer when we could afford it so we won't have any problems with it for a long time but not the case and now with the economy we don't have extra cash to go to the laundry mat whenever, we are on a budget and now we have to worry about getting clean laundry. We have a Whirlpool front loading washer model # WFW8400TW02 if you're having problems with this washer please respond and maybe a recall can be done-

I bought a Whirlpool duet front load washer and took delivery on 01/08/10. The washer worked fine for one year and 3 months, then my wife noticed it was making a loud noise on the spin cycle. We called a repairman to take a look at it. The parts & labor to repair the machine are more than I paid for it. I called Whirlpool to see if they were going to do anything about the obvious defect in the basket & rear tub. They told me it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. This washer is less than a year and a half old. When asked if they thought that a $1,000.00 washer should only last a little over a year, they could not comment on that. My advice is to contact the following law firm. They currently have a class action lawsuit regarding Whirlpool front load washers with mold problems. I have contacted them and asked them if they can add this to the current suit or start another addressing the defect issues that plague this machine. If enough people complain and contact this firm, they will take action. The law firm is Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstiens LLP. Their email address is www.lieffcabraser.com.

Do you know if a class action was ever brought against Whirlpool for the duet 8400TW02 model? Similar issues.  Purchased new in March 2009.  We have had 3 major failures.  Within 6 months of purchase a warranty claim was made.  Drum, bearings and drain pump failed.  Then we replaced the circuit board at about 2 years at a cost of over 300.  Same failure again less than 6 months later.  Has always sounded like a freight train in our house when in spin cycle.

I recently purchased a Whirlpool front loader in August of last year, not even a year ago. We have always noticed that it stinks like mold and we use excessive Downey to get rid of the smell, but it often does not work. In addition, the entire inside broke, and the repairman said that this happens all the time, and that this is a defective machine. He said it will need to be fixed over and over again. When it first started having problems, it sounded like an airplane was taking off, then it destroyed an expensive sleeping bag, literally eating it. We are waiting over a week and are told it will be another week to get the parts and have it fixed. We are going 2 weeks without a washing machine, as a family of 6. I have 4 young children. This is UNACCEPTABLE! I paid $850 for this machine to avoid problems, so I could have top of the line. Lowe's is of absolutely no help. I also purchased a 4 year warranty, and still, I have to go through this. The machine should be replaced. I am so furious. I will never purchase a whirlpool appliance, nor anything from Lowe's store ever again. This needs to be fixed. I am happy to join a class action lawsuit, but I am not sure where to start. I can be contacted at 845-913-6562, Kimberley von Baeyer, 324 Garrison Woods Lane, Wallkill, NY 12589. Model #WFW9640XW00, Serial #CS11801481

I have a whirlppol top load mod wtw4950xw0. It just made two yrs old. The cost to repair is the cost I got it for. The seal went out which made the bearings go out and leak into transmission. I asked the repair man aren't the seal suppose to last 3-5 yrs. He said yes but mines not the first to go out and cause this much damage. It just started leaking on floor last week. He said from rust on plactis gear on transmission its been doing this for awhile. If this is tge case I will never buy another energy efficent machine again. The older ones last much longer than yr and half before parts go out. What are the life use of your seals?

I also have this same model washer, and it just made 3 years old.  An electrical burning smell, and loud noises are coming from the machine when on spin. Although this is an 'EF machine, this washer sucks!!! Clothes aren't clean most of the time, sometimes I need to wash laundry twice. I'm hesitant to call a repair man, because I know they'll charge me just as much as purchasing a new washer.  I'm debating about whether or not to try and troubleshoot my self, but for the price for parts, I'm even wondering if it's worth it.  I'm probably better off buying a new washer.  Bottom line, I'm never going to buy a Whirlpool!

I have the same problem I bought it in 2009 I sent a copy of the warranty stating lifetime warranty on the drum for a wfw9700av01. The bearing chew out the shaft the shaft is part of the drum.  Part number w10159904 the lady told me it was not.  I can not buy the spider assembly by itself
It comes as one part.  The drum comes together with the spider assembly.  I sent copy of warranty and pictures but no progress.  I will go to small claim court with this one.  I did not think this would happen to me with such a large company.  I never had problem in the past.

Ours did the same thing. We have had it for 5 years now and it started making a loud noise at the spin cycle. I called the repair company and was told it had a busted bearing. The cost to repair it $850.00!!! His bill for the 5 minutes he was here $70.00!!! Al  thereviews I have seen on the net all say that watergets to the bearings and that is what causes the problem. I'm sure Whirlpool knows this to. Peoole also say that Whirlpool prices the parts so expensive people simply buy a new washer.I will be buying a new one whenthis one stops working and it won't be a Whirlpool,

I bought a whirlpool duet pair in Sept. of 2010.  About 2 weeks ago, I smelled a burning smell in the basement after doing a washload and found some hard pieces of a substance that looked like grey mesh. Pieces of this substance keep appearing after I do a wash.  Today, there is a banging noise coming from behind the drum, especially during the spin cycle. I called to schedule a repair appoint but i feel that i should get a new machine.

Exactly the same problem we are having! I assume the grey plastic is a bushing.
