I had purchased a washing machine (6th Sensation)in Oct 2007 fromm an authorised dealer at Pondicherry. From day 1 this was giving problem of getting switch off frequently. After some time their service engineers told some gasket problem then they have changed the gasket. Again some drum problem which the had attended few months ago. Again drum problem and now they are telling that drum need to be changed just after the warranty is over. I am struggling for last one month but in Whirlpool no body is giving the correct issue. Even though complaint was booked absolutely no response. I have complaint no. with me with other documents.

My Whirlpool Duet had the same failure as everyone else!  Why you have to replace the entire drum for a bad bearing sounds like the worst engineering design ever!  The cost to repair it is more than the entire machine!  Whirlpool really needs to take care of this issue as more and more complaints pile up.

Our Whirlpool Duet washer recently started doing the same thing.  We have had  the washer for 3 years, purchased January 2010.  Bearings have gone out, according to the repair man.  The cost to repair it would be around the same cost of a new machine.  The repairman recommended a top loader and said to avoid the front loaders as they cause a lot of problems.  The repairman recommended Whirlpool, although I am hesitant.  One should not have to buy a new washer after only a few years.  When I was growing up, my parents had the same washer and dryer until I grew up and moved out of their house.  Why is it that today's products fall apart and our parents products lasted forever?  Companies want higher profits for providing junk products and they hold no accountability for the failed products they produce.  More profit to them to produce junk because people will then have to buy the products again once they fail.

Whirlpool?  NOPE  Cesspool is more like it because this Duet washer is a piece of $h_T.  Broken spider from corrosion - Whirlpool won't honor their own 10 year warranty of a 'cracked or broken inner drum'.  THE SPIDER IS PART OF THE DRUM AND IT CRACKED.  Whirlpool NEVER AGAIN.  DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL

The Steel drum has a lifetime warranty on it and since everything is attached to it on the duet, the drum is broken. The spider is a part of the steel drum. I received a free drum and put it on myself just recently but I did have to pay a $83 service fee for the certified technician to come out and tell Whirlpool that the drum was broken. The key to this is the steel drum is broken not the spider or anything that's attached to the drum. They are all one piece therefore it's the drum.

Bought duet washer and dryer 2 years ago. dryer still works. washer tub bearing is out, also leaks on the floor now. whirpool customer service is the most unprofessional cs i have ever dealt with.
save yourself the trouble and stay away from this brand. the bearing in my unit can not be replaced on its own without the whole assembly being replaced.  Get an lg or samsung. DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL

Bought a New French Door Whirlpool fridge. It broke down on 7-28-13 Called it in on Mon 7-29-13  They contacted a repair facility who would try to send somebody out. Never showed! I contacted Whirlpool again at the 866-640-7146 number and they said it would be Thursday. Waited all day Thursday and called the repair store and they said it would be the following THURSDAY! So the show up on AUGUST 8th,and was here all of about 5 minutes and said your compressor is shot! Said when he got back that he would order it. That would of been on the 8th or 9th.Didn't order it until the 12th!!!!!  So I call them and they said that it could take 7-14 days to get it in and schedule the repair!  I had a working Samsung and gave it up for an Ohio Built Whirlpool! Look how this POS Company treats it's buyers! The Model is a GX5F-1DXVQ06
They said unplug it! COL! Will be filing a lawsuit on them as soon as I can find an attorney! Screw Them!

I purchased a new WFS1055CD front loader which also failed (main controlboard) just 2months after warranty lapsed and have noticed many others on many other forums with the same complaint of just out of warranty issues not with just the whirlpool washers this includes microwave ovens also..I was informed by Whirlpool they would send me the part required as I live 1000km from the nearest service agent but I have not seen the part yet and that was 26th of July they suggest it was sent..

I purchased my whirlpool duet from Costco thinking that they sold top line products, our clothes do not seem to be clean, especially our whites. I have resorted to doing small loads with maximum bleach that machine allows and still my whites are so dingy they should be thrown away. I am to the point that I think the only fix is to replace the machine. I would love to take part in a class action lawsuit if there is one in the works. I live in Massachusrttes

I bought the duet washer  WFW9640XW00 and it was delivered the last week in October, 2012.  By December it had already tore up.  Repairman came out and said main circuit board needed replaced.  The part was on b/o so I contacted Lowes and they agreed to replace it since I hadn't had it but a few weeks.  From December to August, the replacement washer started making an extremely loud noise on the spin cycle.  Repairman came out and here we go again.  I'm without a washer and the part to replace it is on b/o.  It is very inappropriate for Whirlpool to treat their customers this way and not call a recall.  I will never ever buy a Whirpool product again'!!!!!!!  I will tell everyone I speak with to never buy Whirpool appliances cause they are unreliable junk.

I purchased a WFW9640XW00 last month from Lowes.  It was a floor model, but still brand new.  I only did about 6 loads when I noticed that the basket is rusting on the edge.  I called for service but was told Whirlpool considers that "cosmetic" and will not fix it without charging me.  What has happened to this company??  My last Whirlpool lasted for 35yrs.  The basket was worn out.  If it wasn't for that, I'd still have it.  Only 1 service call for a belt.  Lowe's wants me to purchase another machine and charge me the difference.  I want them to change the basket on this one.  I know everything else works.

i too bought a whirlpool duet washer and dryer combo. Its been less than 3 years and now the washer is tearing apart our clothes. It also leaves a gray particles a in the washer. i am told it is the cement weight inside the washer that is broken. I am also told that this a common problem, and that whirlpool will not fix. I just don't believe that a company can make such a poor product and still not stand behind it. This will definitely be the last time i buy whirlpool anything. At least theres a site like this to air our disgust with whirlpool.

    Hiya Melanie,
Our duet is only 2.5 years in use, and only upon massive noise issue was it discovered that the left shock was never installed, and that caused the balance weight to shear off of the drum..... Not awesome. Would love for whirlpool to man up and fix this issue.
That was far too much money to spend on a machine that was not even finished being put together.....

We purchased a Whirlpool WFW9640xw00 front load washer and dryer.....after 18 months, it sounds like a plane taking off...we called a technician and paid $80.00 for a service call.  He said the parts and labor are more than the value of the washer.  We called Whirlpool and after getting the run around, they told me there was nothing they can do.  NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL!!!!!!!  You pay extra for quality and they do not stand behind their products......We will be telling everyone we know what a terrible product and the terrible service we received......Whirlpool knows this is a lemon and should provide those who have defective units with a replacement.....I will be emailing the attorney listed above as well as consumer reports......then I plan to share my situation with as many people as possible as I do not want them to make the same mistake.......Jason.

We have a model #GHW9150PW0 Whirlpool that was purchased Jan. 5th, 2005.  All of a sudden it started making a terrible banging noise, being an old Press Mechanic I took it apart and found the spider support for the stainless steel basket had
broken in 2 places.  My warranty was lifetime on the stainless steel drum and 10 years on the inner and outer baskets.
Whirlpool sent me in and outer baskets, and a new stainless steel drum at no cost, I am having to put them in, but will have no out of pocket costs in doing so, this will cause the warranty to be void, but so be it.  The only thing that bothers me is they will NOT sell just the spider support piece, you must purchase the entire stainless steel basket, IF you had to pay for it.
That part is aluminum and it was eaten all up, corrosion big time.

We have the GHW9200LQ Whirlpool. Ours has done the same, spider support for the stainless steel basket has
broken. Front and rear outer drum damaged in the process. How did you get Whirlpool to honor their warranty?
I have had an email in for over a week and cannot get any reply, much less some warranty parts sent to me. I was reading over some of the litigation from the mold lawsuit and it was stated the mold, aka biofilm, corrodes the aluminum of the spider to failure.

Guys, I have the same issue with the Whirlpool #WFW8300SW03 front load Dual Duet. I called the Whirlpool customer service for help. The told me that sending some one to look at the machine would cost $100. Then most likely the cost of repairing it would be $400. The issue is that the machine is making tumbling noises after the cycles end during spinning...Anyone has an insight on how to repair this?....I am not buying a whirlpool if I cannot fix this one. Help!!!!!

Same issue as everyone else Whirlpool Duet WFW9470WW01.  2 1/2 years old the seal went bad ruined the bearings.  The seal is cheap no spring and the bearings are the cheapest that Whirlpool could find.  It appears the Seal and shaft combination are designed to fail so you have to purchase a New Washer every 2-3 years.  The fact that whirlpool does not sell repair parts seal and bearings and one must purchase a 300-400 back basket assembly is a real indicator of the designed to fail and more expensive to repair than replace.  This is a waste of resources for everyone, a throw away society and in this case Whirlpool shafting their Customers.  I look forward to the Class Action Lawsuits for Mold shafting Whirlpool!
