I had purchased a washing machine (6th Sensation)in Oct 2007 fromm an authorised dealer at Pondicherry. From day 1 this was giving problem of getting switch off frequently. After some time their service engineers told some gasket problem then they have changed the gasket. Again some drum problem which the had attended few months ago. Again drum problem and now they are telling that drum need to be changed just after the warranty is over. I am struggling for last one month but in Whirlpool no body is giving the correct issue. Even though complaint was booked absolutely no response. I have complaint no. with me with other documents.

I too have a duet sport washer with a broken spider arm. Washer only 5 years old and 5 days after extended warranty ended it broke. Cost to fix......$800!! Your repairman explained the broken part they can not get off therefore the whole drum unit needs to be replaced. The part sells at Sears for $91. This is unreal. Is Whirlpool willing to work with us or lose us as customers? I am (now depends) a avid customer.

      Please respond,

diane if your machine is anything like mywhirlpool duet wfw9200sq02 the spider arm is held on by a 15/16 nut that can be removed with a socket or box wrench . the nut on my washer had loctite on the threads so it may start to back off hard at first. my problem is the bearing that is pressed into the drum. you have to replace the whole drum at about 800. i paid that for the whole washer about 7 years ago. good luck.

OK Melaine how about me.  I had purchased your duet three yrs ago and have had mold and smell problems from the start.  I had called whirlpool while my washer was under warranty.  I asked if there was any problems with smells and they said no.  I had a plumber dig up my dry well thinking that the smell came from a back up into machine.  there was not.  I am really upset and I will not let this go.  The smell is getting so bad that I fear for my health.  I have a duet purtchased in 2009.  Serial #LSW2613151 MODEL #WFW9200SQO2. Please I have tried vinegar and plenty of afresh and nothing works.  I called just today to your company.  Three times I called becasue they kept cutting me off.  I am a comsumer that will not let this go., I spent over 800.00 for just the washer and my clothes have that odwer as well.  I made an appiontment with a plumber who suggested I look on the internet that there were other people who had this problem .. What an eye opener.  I will call consumers and speak my mind to anyone who will listen.  I would appeciate you contacting me to rectify this problem,now..my name is CM I can be reached at my home 631-549-3889.  you have my email address. I live in NY.  I  await your response.  It would be refreshing for me to finally get something resolved at whirlpool.

I have Whirpool Front Loader Washer #WFW9200SQ02, that is 3 1/2 years old, paid $1,000.00 for it, and it just won't turn on, and silly me, I thought it would last longer then 3 years so we didn't take out the extended warranty.  Called last week, on 6/14 to talk to someone about the washer and all they would do was offer a extended warranty for 299.00 + tax for 1 year.  I told them I needed to discuss this with my husband and would get back to them, call on 6/18 to take out the warranty, and the price went up to 425.00 + tax.  Doesn't matter that I called last week, doesn't matter that the person I spoke to didn't inform me the price would go up Monday.  What happen to companies standing behind their products, I am very disappointed with Whirlpool, and will never buy another product they make.

Hello I would google WFW9200SQ02 WHIRLPOOL will not turn on. After finding what causes the problem go to Sears part direct find the part number and go to ebay and find the part at a cheaper price. If you what to save money you can go to youtube and enter the WFW9200SQ02 WHIRLPOOL and how to replace the part. I have the same machine that my friend gave me and he tried to fix it and made it worst. I invested one hundred dollars on it and it works but has a miner leak. Once I fix it my daughter and  will get good use of it.

The problem may be the control board on which there is the ON button. Moisture and such may have corroded the switch so that it will no longer switch the machine on. The control board will have to be replaced or repaired. My control board had this problem within the first six months.

I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport, purchased new from American TV & Appliance in August of 2009.  I would jokingly tell my husband he stunk, but it was our clothes.  We have a slimy black mold stain on the rubber inside of the machine.  I've used bleach on it regularly but it doesn't go away and our clothes smell terrible.  I use a lot of fabric softener and dryer sheets.  I also keep the door open when the washer is not in use, hoping that it dries it out.  Clothes never seem to be spun enough because we almost always need to dry each load at least twice.  On July 19, 2012, the washer stopped completely.  The door was locked and I had to unplug the machine to get the door open.  When I did, water poured out onto my floor.  I tried to restart the machine to Rinse and Spin, all the lights worked but the machine did not start.  The Add a Garment light is stuck on and the door locks.  Again I had to unplug the machine to open it up.  I let the water pour out (what a mess), but I needed to get my clothes out.  Then I had to hand ring each clothing item before drying them so they would not ruin.  Now I'm stuck with a washer out of warranty, the electrical system clearly doesn't work, water is pooled in the drum of the machine because it doesn't work, all of our clothes smell.
I'm thankful I bought GE appliances for the rest of the house and I'm crossing my fingers that my Whirlpool Dryer is of better quality than the washer.  I too will NEVER purchase Whirlpool again!

I grew up with a home full of Whirlpool appliances and they were very reliable, so as an adult, I too filled my home with Whirlpool. I have to say, they have been, for the most part, very reliable, until we purchased a Whirlpool Duet pair (washer#WFW9640XW00). It sounded like a jet plane was in my laundry room and seemed to get louder and louder with every wash. My husband, being a mechanical-type, said it sounded like a bearing.... whatever that is. As a 47 yr old woman, I know how to do laundry, I did not overload or abuse my machine. And, it's just me and my husband and we live in Arizona so all our laundry is quite lightweight. Rarely do we even have jeans to wash.
Our purchase from the local Lowe's was in Dec of '11 and by June we had repairmen in our home. That's only 6 months! To add insult to injury, the parts that came to our home a few days prior were damaged, so now they had to reorder parts and we wait yet again. Oh, joy! (sarcasm) Finally, after the repair guy's 3rd visit, the washer was once again quiet. But, that was short-lived. It began to sound loud again, same familiar jet coming through my laundry room in July.... just weeks after the repair. Really?? Yes, really. (again, sarcasm)  So, here we go again.... calling Lowe's (they can't help us), calling the repairman (he'll be out again $$), and calling Whirlpool (who transfers the call to so-and-so, then to another so-and-so). UGH!
OK, so if the washer is an "Edsel", give us our money back so as consumers can repurchase another brand to our satisfaction. I'm just not satisfied with a defective appliance OR a laundromat. Isn't that why we buy washers for our home?

I can't believe there's not a class action suit on the Duets for the door lock failures.  There are hundreds of complaints and fix-it forums on this thing, for every model of the Duet washer.  A washer should not require major control board repair two weeks after the warranty expires.

Think a lawyer is in order.

Duet washer the handle snaps in two every time you open the door. i bought one dozen new handles at 15 bucks each and used them all up in the first year.  i have a block of wood i carved with tie straps on my thousand dollar washer.  they call me mr. moldy at work.  clothes are ruined.  my Duet drier has a ghost in it.  it starts up in the middle of the day and flashes 8888 in the display.  repair man told me it is how wrinkle guard works.  idiot.  buzzer beeps and bops intermittently. i have to unplug it from the wall to get it to turn off.

We also are very disappointed with this purchase.  Less than1 1/2 years old and rear bearing caused major damage to internal, external tub and sealing. Whirlpool will not cover any of the parts and quoted 1200-1500 to repair (more than cost of machine). The repairman stated he sees this manufacturing flaw often

This is completely unacceptable!  We will never again purchase Whirlpool. Our last machine lasted 17 years with no issues.  It's disappointing that they will not stand behind the product. We will happily join any class-action suit around this manufacturing flaw

I have had major drum issues with my Whirlpool  front load washer. I have had it repaired three times. Good thing I have a home warranty on it.

We also are very disappointed with this purchase.  Less than 2 1/2 years old paid $970.00 for it
My washer will not turn on. I have loaded it. Pushed the control on button and pushed and held the start button, but no light is coming on, nor is it showing any signed ofo starting. The door is shut and locked and the machine is plugged in. Nothing that I know has changed since the last load was run two days ago. It's disappointing that they will not stand behind the product. We will happily join any class-action suit around this manufacturing flaw

I have a 2 1/2 year old Whirlpool duet washer.  My wife told me there was water coming out of the washer so I went to investigate.  There are small piles of grit under my washer.  Upon opening the front panel, I found the concrete collar that surrounds the front of the drum has broken into many pieces.  This has resulted in enough friction against the drain pipe that the plastic tubing now has a hole in it and is leaking water to the floor.  I have heard the washer making tons of noise in the spin cycle, but didn't think anything of it as it has always been ridiculously loud(even leading me to sound insulate my entire basement to try not to disturb the rest of the house.  I have never had a washing machine go out like this, cheap or not!

I also had numerous problems with the Whirlpool Duet washer (front loader).
Within a few months of use, it required repair with installation of a new door latch and motor control.  It soon thereafter failed and required a motor drive.  Several months later it broke again and required yet another two new parts.  Waiting for the parts each time.  In total the machine was out of commission for weeks.  The debacle required no less than eight appointments in lieu of work hours waiting for service to diagnose and later try to repair this machine. During this period, I learned of two other people in my neighborhood with failed Duet washers as well.

Of all the appliance manufacturers I have dealt with, Whirlpool's customer service has been by far the poorest. It is clear that they do not care about the reputation of the brand. I will never purchase another Whirlpool or Maytag which they acquired.  I will also never, ever, purchase a Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Brastemp, Consul, Bauknecht, or Gladiator.

Electrolux, GE, LG, Samsung or Kenmore for me.   They still care about their customers.

I too have a whirlpool Diet that now sounds like a train. Found out that when a manufacturer has items that are problematic, they sell them at discount places like Brandsmart. Well the Whirlpool Duets are pieces of crap. dryer has to have a whole new front panel replaced and now the washer and I am a few months out of warranty.

    Beware...do not buy these.

I also have a Whirlpool Duet and its AMAZING how the stories just seem to echo each other, mine failed also at less than 6 months old, circuit board! Also the mold smell if clothes are not removed IMMEDIATELY AFTERWASH CYCLE AND DOOR HAS TO BE LEFT OPEN TO KEEP THE SMELL DOWN. Now the Pulley or Spider as they call it has failed on the back of the washer and the shredded plastic from the tub surround filled the load of clothes in the washer when it occurred and had to be Hand picked out of the clothes. This Washer dryer set cost me $1,700.00 when purchased and now the washer is Junk more expensive to fix than it is worth and I have to purchase another GUARNANTEED IT WILL NOT BE WHIRLPOOL, GUARANTEED! This is the WORSE DESIGN I HAVE EVER SEEN, THE NEW ERA OF LAUNDY, MY @&$,

Well, same problem here, bearing failure after just 18 months and the dealer quoted nearly $200 to replace the whole drum assembly! Good thing we have a talented appliances repair technician on our community maintenance staff. Cost of new bearing and washer seal, $ 43..... his repair charge $ 37 plus a six-pack of Amstel. We so informed trhe dealer, and also that we would NOT be purchasing any more Whirpool products in future. Ariston perhaps?
