My corelle plates now have a dull finish and so does my stainless, as well as my now cloudy glasswear. Everything feels sticky and coated. This happened when I began using cascade from the new box with Dawn marking and lemon scent. I've used cascade for many years before this without a problem.
How can I correct this???  And can I get a refund for this inferior "new" product?

My dishes all have a film on them that I can't get off! I used a different detergent and my dishes were perfectly clean.  You product is defective and you should pull it from the shelf instead of knowingly ruining peoples dishes and compensating the ones who complain.

I have the same problem.  It didn't occur until I got a new dishwasher 2 years ago.  I finally had sears look at this and they didn't know what it was but said it wasn't the dishwasher.  Did you every find out what is causing this

My dishes are also coated in white film. Plus the dirt is now sealed in I have tried to scrub off with scotchbrite to no avail. If you complain to P&G they want to send you coupons for a product that does not work anyway. If you read the reviews on their page they talk to people in a very condescending manner (don't we all wish we had fairies to do our dishes) I think P&G should be made to pay for replacing everyones dishes their product has ruined.

We've used Cascade for years.  But recently, we struggled for 3 weeks thinking our 1 year-old Miele dishwasher had something terribly wrong with it.  Dishes had a white film.  Plasticware had a thicker film.  Pots & pans had the thickest white film.  Our steak knives with dark wooden handles were getting bleached grey.  We started having food particles stuck to the silverware.

We have called Miele repair 3 times.  The 1st time we were told that it was something we were doing wrong and to make sure we used less dishwashing powder, as it was accumulating on everything.  The 2nd time we were told that a detergent residue had built up on the inside of the dishwasher for the past 12 months and it was now leeching onto the plates.  Miele sent us a liquid to use with an empty wash cycle which would clean the insides.  That cleaned the dishwasher, but the next load of dishes had the white residue again.  Finally a 3rd call was enough for Miele to acknowledge that there might be a problem with the detergent.  They are sending us their phosphate-free detergent.  We'll see if that works.

We are terribly disappointed that P&G let their product on the market without adequate testing.  We have no idea what the 'film' is and how much we have ingested as we struggled to clean our dishes.

For now, we're stuck with this kitchen environmental 'disaster'.  It's much more than a few white blemishes on our dishes and we will not "suck it up" as inferred by many 'Green' bloggers.  But since we are in a no-phosphate state, does anyone know of a detergent that DOES work?  Obviously Cascade is out.  But what can we use until sanity is restored in the dishwasher detergent marketplace?

Try LemiShine.  I had the same problem, and struggled thinking it was the dishwasher.  It is because there is no more phosphate in the dishwasher detergents now and this happens when the water is hard.  We have a water softener and it still happens.  Lemi Shine cleared it all right up.

after much searching on the internet this morning I just re-washed my dishes with straight powdered borax, and white vinegar added to the rinse dispenser. I didnt clean my dishwasher yet..washed on the "heavy" cycle, hot water..about 1/2 of the film I've had for months is gone. I'll NEVER go back to cascade. I'm going to use borax and baking soda, with white vinegar as a rinse aid.  The old cascade was good; the non-phosphorus cascade is the WORST.

My diswasher now has horrid brown stains and it appears that the plastic itslef has  melted. The diswasger is about 10 years olod but had "the works" rplaced about 2 years ago.Never had a problem before. The ONLY thing i changed was Cascade. Using the Cascade with Baking Soda Liquid. HATE THETUFF!!
Have no idea how to get the brown stains out (Actually looks like a spilled coffee on porcelain surface,, but it's plastic) and i don;t wash coffee or tea in the dishwasher. But I think I will try Sunlite  detergent and virgar wash Maybe that will help.
I was going to complain to cascade P&G but that sounds fruitless after readin fg the onine complaints. I kjust hate corprate America. It's a;; about the dollar. Well, I watch where i spend my dollar and what TV programs use what advertisers.
It's the only way i can feel like i have any control over the products they throiw at us.
Hope all have a wonderful day and let's keeop sharing....We are cerainly in this together.

i have good news for you........i had the brown stain too and found out it was from iron, which comes out easily. in the detergent place put a cheap orange drink powder, like tang? it takes out right out, once and done.  i don't think that has anything to do with the white film problem. i was lucky in that 15 yrs ago when i had the "brown stain" show up, people told me right away, and poof, the problem was gone. this white film problem has not been fixed with any of the ideas people have shared, vinegar, etc. so irish 17020, i hope your dishwasher is white in no time!

ALL dishwashing detergents have had the "PHOSPHATES" removed. It's what gets the dishes clean. Problem is that it also is now in our groundwater & destroying the streams and lakes. Here in Ohio we have lakes overrun with algea they say is caused by run off from farm fertilizers and phosphates.

My dishes are dirty when the come out, so I waste more water rewashing them. The best part is the companies never tell anyone the formula's been changed until many of us spent a lot of money repairing dishwashers that weren't broken.

I had used Cascade powder for years, and experienced the same problem immediately after using the new Cascade powder purchased at Costco (noticed the new packaging, assuming it was a new formulation).
At first, I also thought it was a problem with my dishwasher.
Once I switched to the Costco liquid detergent, I had no further problems, but it was a pain scrubbing off the white film on everything.

It's finally here!   For years, some of us who have been
customers of a wonderful company have been teaching our friends and
family about the  negative effects of  phosphates and
chlorine in automatic dishwashing  detergents.  Sometimes
they didn't seem to believe us did they?

As you will learn from the news story below, phosphate-free
dishwashing   detergents that actually work are challenging
to develop.  Wait until you   listen to what Proctor and
Gamble's customers are saying about P and G's new
    product...Not Good!

Even the spokesman from the American Institute of Cleaning
attempts to  defend the major manufactures by stating that
developing a phosphate free   dishwashing detergent is very
    difficult and will take time!

    We already have one!

(I have no sympathy for P & G.  They knew the  negative
effects on the  environment years ago and chose to take the
easy way out  and ignore the damage  caused while still
    putting it in their  products.)

    Check out this video!

    _http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaFD4-5cWOw_

The one we have been using is phosphate free and chlorine free dishwashing
detergent.  It not only works better than
anything on  the market, it is  less expensive...and
MADE-IN-AMERICA. It is four  times more
concentrated as the leading brand.  AND IT  WORKS!

    This company manufactures 300+
    other outstanding &  environmentally sensitive
products!  It would be my pleasure to help you.  Just ask!

Just go to small claims court and sue P&G. You will win, tell the media of your win, but lack of response from P&G to pay up and the local P&G people will respond to get this negetave off their plate.

Same problem here.  We thought is was the dishwasher -- its 5 years old.   But, we thought that it was funny that it started happening the same time as the change to the new box Cascade.  Very disappointed.
