My corelle plates now have a dull finish and so does my stainless, as well as my now cloudy glasswear. Everything feels sticky and coated. This happened when I began using cascade from the new box with Dawn marking and lemon scent. I've used cascade for many years before this without a problem.
How can I correct this???  And can I get a refund for this inferior "new" product?

My Farberware pots/pans have turned black on the bottom.  No amount of scrubbing has removed the stains left by the detergent.  I am no longer able to display my shiny cookware due to the damage.  Bottoms are aluminum clad, however with the old formula this did not happen.  I am more than disappointed, My Farberware and other aluminum pans I own are ruined beyond any scrubbing I can do to remove the stains.

    Any advice?

Try vinegar and salt and rub the stains. Cleans copper too.

Since Cascade has switched to the new formulation, my dishes are not getting clean, I have splotches and food stuck to the silverware, and the crowning blow was when it ruined my aluminum cookware which now is covered with black and gray splotches and a dull finish instead of being shiny like it was before.  I've always relied on Cascade as it's been rated the best, but now what?!!  We live in a phosphate free state.

I have exactly the same problem. The "beanpot" my g'ma bought for me 58 yrs ago is now an ugly mess!! It started when I bought the"new" Cascade. I & others complained but P&G just kept saying don't wash them in dishwasher. They weren't LISTENING. We had successfully washed them that way before the phosphate was taken out. They blamed us. I've always used Cascade---now what?

hello, take P&G to court everyone..small claims...do not let them get away with a product that you are informing them that ruined your belongings...its worth it....We bought cascade gel w/lemon..had been using the cascade powder forever no problems, the gel has actually etched the surface of everything leaving all unrepairable/damaged...the inside of the dishwasher and the racks along with the workings of the dishwasher that the gel goes through are all etched, surfaces look like they have been sandpapered to a rough finish from the original smooth coating, the tub the same way, areas of dark to light brown coat the dishwasher and my glasses, my silverware is roughed up and wont shine anymore and has a tarnished look, whitish tinge on all stainless..which is already damaged so cannot be polished...my copper bottom pans are also etched...they are not cheap and should last a lifetime..now needing replacement, my dishes and mugs are also brown and some of my dishset has actually chipped in some areas, this soap is rough...my plastics the same...all brown, it is disgusting..called P&G, they sent me a complaint pkg.sent in letter, gel pkg. good to keep a small amount of product, photocopy the bar code on the pkg.also for your records...waited over 6-8 wk.waiting period, they do not respond..you have to continually call cust.service to find out the status...and they do not know, you cannot talk to the claims dept. either...obviously they have so many claims they cannot talk I guess..so, we waited over 12 wks.for them to say..we have hard water and they sent us a coupon for more detergent...well first..how stupid is that..and I had to call them to even find out that response..they think if time goes by that if you complain to them you forget..probably some people do..but dont, i called them and the cust.service looked up the notes and it said the hard water..well i asked the cust.serv.rep. do you have any notes in there that they took a sample of my water and tested it ...no...well then how in the world would they come up with that conclusion...of course no answer..so a week later i received a letter from P&G stating it was our waters fault and heres another coupon....well heres small claims court....and we are asking in our state for triple damages...everyone else should do the same...you work hard to make money to buy the dishwasher, dishes, etc...and you buy a companies product that should work properly and it doesnt,,,we even gave them the opportunity to fix it or at the very least at least tell us what we could have used to try to clean it up..problem is the etching is non-repairable...unfortunately...do they think we have nothing better to do than complain about dishwasher soap...
i will note the results of the court case so that others in the future can use the comments in their case...as it is nice that we are able to see that we are not alone with this product...and the majority of us seemed to have used the cascade products for years ealier with no issues so it is not a one time used of cascade...but they need to fix all the damaged goods that their supposedly tested products have damaged as if they were tested they would have seen they damage goods...or maybe they did see they damaged goods and just did not care....keep you posted...

    Here is what helped me:

Bought a box of "finish GLASS MAGIC" ( made in Canada ). It is a Hard Water Performance Booster in a blue box. I sprinkled it on the bottom of the door of my dishwasher and mixed some in with my ( now worthless ) Cascade powder in the little cups on the door. WHAT THIS DOES IS ----> puts phosphates back into the wash.

Next, I poured a little WHITE DISTILLED VINEGAR in the bottom of the dishwasher AND placed 2 mugs upright filled half-way with the vinegar on the top rack ( one in front, the other toward the back ). WHAT THIS DOES ----> the vinegar is acidic and helps in the rinse process to keep things from sticking. As the dishwasher runs through it's wash and rinse cycles, water will splash into the mugs filled with vinegar and spread the vinegar around on the other glasses/dishes.

Then, close the door and run dishwasher as usual. Of course, I turn on the hot water in the kitchen sink and run all the cold water out of the pipes to make sure when I press the start button, my dishwasher will fill up with HOT water only.

This process is a pain and extra expense, BUT IT WORKED FOR ME!  Yippee!
My glasses came out like they used to( when Cascade actually cleaned dishes). They were crystal clear for the first time in months - no white residue! Same with my stainless flatware - clean with no more residue, just shine! My dark brown dishes, which I thought were ruined, were clean with no more yukky white powder residue. They haven't had this shine and glossy finish in months. Plus, the inside of my dishwasher is clean again, with no more build-up.

Just wanted to pass this on in hopes it could possibly help other people suffering from this wacko phosphate ban. We need the old Cascade back! This phosphate ban may make the government & corporate environmentalists feel all warm and fuzzy inside as they pat themselves on the back about how they helped the planet - but it is rubbish! How have they helped the planet when people have filled landfills with perfectly functioning dishwashers and water heaters? How many sets of glassware, dishes and flatware were also thrown out because folks thought they were ruined? How many trees have been cut down to make paper plates which can just be thrown away ( more for the landfill )? How much energy was wasted to heat the water we all hand washed and scrubbed our dishes with, trying in desperation to get that white film off? How many people hurt their arms and back with all the scrubbing? OH THAT'S RIGHT, I forgot, people DON'T COUNT, people are the problem - only the planet counts. I love the planet too, but this phosphate ban has had such far reaching consequences nobody thought about. Give us back the old Cascade with phosphates and work on the real culprit - fertilizer runoff. This is one case where, in my humble opinion, the cure is much worse than the original condition.

Oh yes, one more tip ... when you open the dishwasher the 2 mugs on the top rack will be filled with vinegar water. Be careful when you pull out the rack so they don't spill. Happy dish washing in our brave new world!

I have had the same problem for the last 3 months with Cascade Advanced.  I tried Cascade with Dawn, but it does the same thing.  I FOUND THE SOLUTION, WASH YOUR DISHES WITH WHITE VINEGAR.  IT WORKS!

    Angry in Alberta
I'm with the guy who wants to start a class action suit!  I honestly thought it was my dishwasher until I was informed that it was the soap - that Cascade no longer has phosphates in it.  Well, great - now everything I've put in the dishwasher has that awful white, powdery coating on it.  I'm now washing my dishes by hand, which is ridiculous; I have a dishwasher for a reason! Until now, Cascade has always done a great job of getting the dishes clean.  It appears those days are gone and we should all solve the problem by either suing or by simply never buying another Cascade product.  Maybe we should boycott all Proctor and Gamble products if they aren't going to do anything to solve this problem.  How dare they continue to put this product in the market when it doesn't do what it's supposed to do?  I am livid.  I do, however, appreciate everyone's tips as to how to get our dishes clean after Cascade has made a mess of them.  Thanks everyone!  In the meantime, tell everyone you know not to buy Cascade!!  If WE can think up non-phosphate solutions to the dishwashing problem, you'd think "the professionals" could do.  Sadly, it appears that they cannot.

    Better in Phoenix
I bought Cascade Dawn powder and had the same white powder result.  I used vinegar to wash my dishes to get the powder off the plates and cups.  Can not use it for all of the dishes.  I contacted P&G and they sent me coupons and actually a check to cover a portion of my damaged dishes.  I have started to use the liquid and have had no issues.  Good Luck

I have been going crazy til I saw this website. I too have been using Cascade with Dawn and lemon. My dishes, glasses, and two sets of silverware are ruined.  It has taken the gloss off of everything and feels horrible to touch--like fingers on a chalkboard.  Why is this product still on the market?

I posted my comment as a reply but will repeat it here.  I was about to replace my dishwasher because this had never happened.  Dishes, glasses, silverware were disgusting--like fingers on a chalkboard.  I tried everything and always ended up washing the dishes by hand but they still feel deglazed.  If I hadn't found this forum, I would have a new dishwasher and the same old problem.

I put a large towel in my bath tub then laid all my glasses on top of the
towel while running med to high hot water i poured vineger into the tub
let set over night and by morning they were nice and clear. I then placed
them in the dish washer and washed them I've found the cascade  blocks
with the red dot in the middle & the rinse basket that hangs in the dish
washer both works well together. Try it you' ll like it the dishwasher powders
are no good alone any more.

Same problem here....I gave my glasses and other ruined things to good will.  Maytag dishwasher service man knew it was the detergent.  He ran hot water through the machine for four full flushes and I will just use baking soda in the dispenser and white vinegar in the rinse aid from now on.
Arm and Hammer should do a strikingly great new business now.....

I certainly agree with you. My stainless stell pots and pans are ruined. Three months ago I moved to an area that has harder water, and I got some of the detergent you mentioned (Cascade, Dawn, Lemon) and now I have a film all over my glasses and my pots and pans are absolutely ruined. I,too, say - give us back our old Cascade!!!
