My corelle plates now have a dull finish and so does my stainless, as well as my now cloudy glasswear. Everything feels sticky and coated. This happened when I began using cascade from the new box with Dawn marking and lemon scent. I've used cascade for many years before this without a problem.
How can I correct this???  And can I get a refund for this inferior "new" product?

Detergent makers were recently required to removed phosphates from their products for environmental reasons.  If you are getting a white film, add 1 cup of vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before washing cycle is begun.  As for aluminum,  try soaking in hot water with 3 Tbl cream of tarter.  What you are seeing with both are chemical reactions that phosphate used to inhibit.  The lakes, streams, and waterlife are happier and we are less spoiled.

I tried vinegar, it's my normal go-to problem solver but it is not touching this film!  I tired baking soda, borax, vinegar, lemon juice- none it helped. I am going to try washing in baking soda and borax alone with vinegar as a rinse agent. hope it works

The vinegar works great for the film issue!  What do you suggest to the deglazing/etching issue?  By all means I want to help the environment, but I also don't want to continue to damage all of my dishware!  I have went back to had washing, but would love another solution!  I also wouldn't mind replacement value of all my damaged dishes!  It really upsets me because some of the bowls that got damaged was old pyrex from my mother who died in 1996.  Had the bowls ever since I can remember and now they are extremely damaged!  Makes me sick!

P&G continues to market a product to the public that they KNOW is ruining kitchen ware while they are allowed to sell the product that contains Phosphate to restrants and hotels. If they can't make a formula without Phosphate that doesn't ruin things they should pull it from the market.

This product is horrible. No wonder it was on sale.  Even more frustrating is that I am a single mom on a tight budget with no car and no public transportation, so trecks to the store must be planned and budgeted.  This was a complete waste of time and money, both of which are extremely valuable to us all. I can't believe they are still selling this after all these complaints. I can't just hop in the car and run to the store, so I am stuck rewashing everything until I can. Thanks a lot Cascade makers. You should know this is not a good product.

I changed dishwasher detergent and now the whole inside of my dishwasher is sticky with a gum residue.  I tried to wipe it off and it just smeared and the rag stuck to it. Know my dishes don't get clean and the inside of the dishwasher turned green

OMG!!!I have the same exact situation as everyone else has posted and I am just shaking my head here!! This product ruined my new Kenmoore stainless steel cook set, my plates, cups, silverware, and everything else I use to prepare, cook with and eat with.  I have a new dishwasher as well when I started to use this new Cascade crap with lemon packet and at first I thought my kids where not loading the dishwasher properly.  I have tried to get the crap off my stuff and it won't come off!
Dishwasher problems never happend in the past! I should of googled this a long time ago!! Tell all your family, friends, neighbors, and anyone else not to buy anything from that company hopefully that will send the message. Has anyone made a youtube complaint I wonder?

Did the sunlight & vinegar get rid of the brown stains? All my dishes have stains, bleach wouldn't get rid of them.I never thought that cascade was doing this.

Well come to find out the dishwasher detergent manufacturers took the phosphates out of the detergent, because it is harmful to the environment.  They didn't bother to tell any one.  But that is the reason for the white film on the dishes.  Switch to the Finish Tablets (with the little red ball).  They dissolve much better and clean the dishes every time.

While buying a non stick cookware, the first thing that needs to be checked is the coating which is used.Non stick cookwares coated with Teflon is harmful for Human Body. It has a substance called Carcinogen which can initiate cancer. There are several coating which are 100% natural.Ecolon is one  of them. Neoflam is manufacturing non stick cookwares coated with Ecolon.

Thanks for your comments, Kevin. For the past few months, I have wondered why my 15-year old wonderful Miele dishwasher was accumulating streaks of something all over its stainless steel parts and its plastic parts had become dull and looked as if they were degraded or decomposing - rough surfaces on all plastic parts. Dishes have gotten rough deposits on them. Last night, I removed the filter system from the bottom of the Miele dishwasher and found that it was completely clogged with white gunk. I support the removal of phosphates from cleaning products to protect the environment. But, I blame P&G for not doing adequate testing of their new formula. I am worried about my health, too, after consuming the gunk that has been deposited on my dishes…
I had considered buying a new Miele machine, but now it looks like I'll have to return to washing dishes by hand in the sink, and would rather hire a contractor to install new cabinets and a terrific stylish new sink instead of sinking $$$$ into a new dishwasher. I'm worried about the solution to the problem: adding TSP to the dishwasher - considering the huge number of people who may be resorting to this solution, it would not help the environment...

Last week I too had the bottoms of my skillets turn black.  No it can't be removed.  Yesterday and today I spent a couple of hours trying to remove the film from stainless, rubber spatulas, ceramic cups, Corelle dishes, etc.  All my Pyrex measuring cups are ruined.  All the wood handled steak knives and the wooden spoons are now no good. I think the dullness and cloudiness is a result that the surfaces of each item has been stripped.  I won't even donate them to Good Will because of the potential for germs not being able to be washed off. I am not able to just go out and replace all that was destroyed in one shopping trip.  And since there is no compension coming from P&G I simply will boycott ALL their products.

Has anyone considered suing them SINCE THE PACKAGE SAYS IT LEAVES YOUR DISHES SPARKLING CLEAN? I am VERY VERY VERY irritated by this. I used Finish and one day in between classes made a pit stop at Walgreens for soap and had to get Cascade because that is all they have....Did my dishes that night and found this disgusting white film all over them. Terrible, absolutely HORRID product. I am not washing with white vinegar in hopes it will solve my problem. Also switched back to Finish which doesn't have a lot of phosphates in it according to the package (it's not phosphate free). If this doesn't work I will be buying phosphate at Home Depot as a previous poster mentioned. So irritated by this, I'm sure you all understand -.-

I purchased the berry scented cascade gel paks and all my plastic spatulas and rubbermaid storage containers have been ruined with the strong perfume. All food stored in them was ruined including all my holiday baking. I am so disappointed that Cascade would pput this out on the market. Don't they test their products first? Replacing these plastic containers is going to be expensive. If only it wouldn't have taken me so long to figure out where the awful perfume taste was coming from. Have any ideas how to remove the smell/taste?

Thank goodness that I found this link and all the comments left.  I have been begging my boyfriend for a new dishwasher...I hated cooking knowing what the dishes would look like after dinner.  As I am researching what to do to remove the white film that WILL NOT go away(the wrong soap was previously used by a visitor), I find these posts.  I go to check the soap that we are using and it is the powdered Cascade with Dawn as mentioned above.  Running the vinegar now and purchasing new soap.  Thanks to all that posted!  ;)

I called proctor and gamble last year, complaining about my dishes, and do you know what they had the nerve to tell me...."Wash by hand"....surreal, but when I called Whirlpool about the problem, they told me the same thing...It was all I could do to keep from screaming huge obscenities at them..Arrogant jerks.
