They have sent us a box of toner we did not order!  They are trying to charge us $1361.88 for toner that only costs $122.50.  Luckily I caught it.

Why bother?  Under postal regulations, unordered merchandise is a "gift".  You didn't order it, you have no responsibility to pay for returning it.

Sending invoices demanding payment for it is mail fraud.  Doesn't matter whether they shipped via U.S. Mail, or by common carrier, such as UPS or FedEx, 39 USC 3001 still applies.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/uscode39/usc_sec_39_00003001----000-.html

If they demand payment either by phone, or through sending an invoice, file mail fraud complaints with the U.S. Postal Inspector, FTC, your state Attorney General, and the California Attorney General.

Do not threaten, just do it, on their first attempt at demanding payment.  That is the moment they have crossed the line.

Dealt with Jeff Ryman today, I informed him that I'm aware that his company is a scam.  According to the FTC website I'm well in my rights to keep the supplies he sent and not have to pay the invoice since it was sent unordered. Also informed him that since we won't pay the invoice he can't sue us or send us to collections. I also informed him that I had submitted a complain to the FTC and US Postal Inspector. He said he had no idea why we were billed so much and if I could just return the merchandise I said that I would.

The issue isn't the amount, but the fact they send an illegal invoice in the first place.  He's still trying to turn an entirely unsolicited shipment and invoice into some "agreement".  Once he has "agreement" he can proceed to lie about what it was.  Once he has your "agreement" to return it, he can claim it "never arrived", arrived damaged, etc.  Still fraud, but that is the game, so don't play the game.

The shipment was unauthorized, the invoice is illegal as a matter of law, postal regulations allow disposal at the discretion of the receiver.  They sent it with the intent to defraud you.  You have no obligation to raise a finger or spend a penny to return it.

File complaint for violation of 39 USC 3001, for illegally mailing an invoice for unordered merchandice.

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/39/usc_sec_39_00003001----000-.html

Then file a complaint with the California Atttorney General, for attempted fraud.

Just got a call from them asking to speak to "Terry".  I said that he doesn't work out of this office and he imediately suggested I was lying.  I asked what this is in reference to and he tells me Terry was ordering some toner from him. When I said to give me his contact info and I'll give Terry a call and call him back, he rudely uttered something about us missing out on a great deal and hung up on me.  Sounds like I lucked out.  I'm sure he'll call back next week hoping to find Terry and I'll be ready for him.

I just ran into these bandits. I called their accounting rep. Stated that the toner was NOT ordered by us and he agreed to send UPS for a pickup.

Now, let's see if there is any tricky billing for returns.

    Got Scamed!
Dont ever do business with these people!  They will call and try to talk you into a free trial but its really a scam.  They say they will ship 2 toners but below the product discription it says 1/2PK.  They say that means you recieved half of the order.  They claim the other half was on back order and send you another invoice months later! Karl is either the owner or high level management.  These people are crooks and deserve punishment!

I am making a formal complaint with the attorney general.

Our company just got hit today.  Yup, fake PO #, $643 cost for $30 cartridge that doesn't fit any machine we have.  We will offer to send it back if they send us a return label.  We are not about to pay for this, nor for any "restocking fee."  If they persist in anything, we will file formal complaints and will let them know of this.

A scam artist from this company just called my company. He tried to make small talk with me. It is Monday and he said...one more day closer to Friday huh?
When he told me he needed to mail me some things for our copier I said, I know this is a scam. He promptly hung up.

Bill from us industrial supply called this morning and gave me the same line almost exactly.  He wanted me to pick between a flashlight and a calculator and wanted my last name.  They are a scam, hang up on them.

We just got a scam on medical supplies.  Order shipped and not ordered.
This has been an ongoing scam for the last 3 years, we have never verbally authorized any orders and continuously asked the company to not ship any orders to us without a valid purchase order being sent and mailed.

These guy's tried rip us off for a toner that is covered by a service contract through our copier company, funny thing is I asked a Quill sale's person to give me a list of price's for toner I carry here???

My guess is that Quill is behind this scam, because when they come to visit they don't call and they try to sell you something right there at the door!!  Don't give them a PO god knows what they will send you at some horrible price!!!

Is this from the same company cramming toner, or a different company?

    What types of medical supplies?
    What original manufacturer?

Are they date coded and/or sterile?
If so, they may be subject to regulation by your state health department.

If some company is cramming them, they are probably irregular in other ways, as to source, storage, licensing, tracking, etc.  With medical supplies, if it is outside normal controls, it is generally considered "mislabeled" or "adulterated", i.e. to be raided, confiscated and destroyed, with the perpetrator fined to pay for the "service".

More likely they are just going through lists of small businesses looking for suckers, maybe even just internet searches or lists from on-line yellow pages.

These cheats have been around a long time, and there is no reason they would pay for Quill customer information when they could use other sources for free.

That is exactly what you should do.

Also file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.

Why even offer to send it back?

U.S. postal regulations do not require that you do ANYTHING when sent unordered merchandise.

Give them 10 days to come pick it up, if they want, before you dump it.

These cheats have been around a long time, and there is no reason they would pay some insider for Quill customer information when they could use other sources for free.

Quill is such a common office supplier, it is about as significant as finding an unauthorized charge on your credit card after placing an order with Amazon.

They called our offices in early April and our Business Manager immediately sent an e-mail out to everyone telling them about this scam so we were all aware of it.  All our copiers and printers are leased and all supplies are included in our lease so we all knew this was a scam anyway!

We did receive a toner from this company and it's under my desk, unopened.  We received an invoice on May 4 (invoice is dated 04/05/2010) wanting $685.75 for 1 toner!($629.13 for toner and $56.62 S/H!)  I'm going to call this company today and tell them we didn't order this and we aren't paying this invoice. They can either pick it up or we'll dispose of it but we're not paying for it.

Since they mailed you a fraudulent invoice, file fraud complaints with FTC, your state Attorney General, and the California Attorney General, and file a mail fraud complaint with the U.S. Postal Inspector.
